Additionally Interporto Bologna will invest for the developemntand management of a new portterminal in TRIESTE
The Transport Domain inefficiency The inefficiency of the freight transport provokes loss for 160 billions of Euro and generates1,3 % of the CO2 emissions over EU27
Freight Transport scenario, challenges and opportunities Distribution of tons and ton*km over transport distance for road transport in 2030 Modal Split in the EU 27 for freight transport over 300 km in 2030 Source: ACEA 2011 figure shows that for road freight transport only 11% of the volumes are transported over distances over 300km but that these transports generate 56% of the tonne-kilometres 11/07/2014 4
HUB s requirements and needs coordination of infrastructure capacity as well as better management of existing infrastructure and broader attentions on future investment in new infrastructure; The need to reliably and flexibly respond to changing requirements with seamless and integrated coordination of freight and equipment flows through various modes; understanding, measuring, and responding to the role of intermodality in matching customer requirements over the integrated supply-chain approach; knowledge of current and future intermodal operational options and alternatives, as well as the potential for improved information and communications technology.
The innovative Perspective NOVEL HUBS have to operate as more than isolated collections of resources, equipment, and functions, each independently pursuing its own activities and goals. Collaboration and network integrations are two major patterns of thenewroleofthehubs. NOVEL HUBS have to support the need to rethink Supply Chains in order to remain agile without assuming that main features passes just over the maximization of efficiency and reduction of operating costs. They drive innovation by transforming their traditional supplier of nodal service into integrated value chains. 11/07/2014 6
New challenges Exploiting and integrating ICT ICT applications. ICT technologies are a key factor for the improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of terminal operations. Main issues are standardisation of technologies, harmonisation of information, regulations on security and confidentiality. Lack of capacity LAND PLANNING mega facilities thus perform completely different functions. Mega HUBS and Extended Terminal Clusters Improvement of the co-ordination and collaboration between actors. Operational framework for Horizontal Collaboration Making the supply chain sustainable with long-term contractual relations Increase the utilization of assets with secure volumes and contracts Lack or inadequacy of interoperability between modes and loading units. INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES in transport means and equipment; in transhipment techniques; in load units; information technology and telematics systems (inside the terminal).
Towards the Physical Internet create a more efficient, sustainable supply chain by using new modular load units & smoother supply chain interfaces Nuovo concetto di unità di carico modulare Interfacce fluide lungo la supply chain Vision Modular dimensions from cargo container size to tiny Modular box system Optimised space Open networks & pooled resources Less network complexity Key attributes Easy to handle, transport, store, interlock, load, construct, dismantle & decompose Smart tag enabled + sensors Standard sizes & dimensions Unit loads along entire supply chain Common communication, planning & monitoring Interconnected comms Modular logistics units New handling & storage technologies Co-operative logistics networks Potential PI savings: 22% freight km 50% CO 2 15% efficiency 20% loading Smooth interfaces along the supply chain Within inter plant operations During trans-shipment Save CO 2
