2 Befre Yu Begin Abut This Guide This guide will walk yu thrugh a basic installatin and cnfiguratin f the DcAve File Share Cnnectr mdule fr yur SharePint envirnment. This guide is meant nly fr SharePint Farm Administratrs wh have advanced knwledge f SharePint and wish t cnnect and manage their data stred in Clud r Netwrk strage thrugh SharePint. DcAve File Share Cnnectr Overview DcAve File Share Cnnectr allws yu t present and cllabrate upn netwrk file shares, FTP data surces, and clud strage resurces directly thrugh SharePint withut having t migrate the dcuments r cntent in t yur SharePint cntent databases. Cnnected cntent will appear in a dedicated SharePint dcument library, and can be leveraged exactly as if it were residing within SharePint. All f SharePint s pwerful dcument management functinality, including permissins management, wrkflws, alerts, and versining can be applied t the cnnected cntent. Page 2

3 Cnnectr System Requirements Supprted Platfrms: DcAve File Share Cnnectr utilizes EBS/RBS technlgy and requires SharePint Server versins which have this capability: Micrsft Office SharePint Micrsft Office SharePint Server (MOSS) 2007 (x86 and x64) with Service Pack 1 (r higher) Windws SharePint Services (WSS) v3 (x86 and x64) with Service Pack 1 (r higher) SharePint Server 2010 Release Candidate Build (ther versins have nt undergne full QA testing) Micrsft Windws Server Windws Server 2003 (x86 and x64) Windws Server 2008 (x86 and x64) Windws Server 2008 R2 (x86 and x64) SQL Server DcAve Requirements SQL Server 2000 (x86 and x64) SQL Server 2005 (x86 and x64) SQL Server 2008 (x86 and x64) The fllwing DcAve Manager Services must be running and prperly cnfigured (thugh it is recmmended t run all DcAve Manager services): DcAve Manager Cntrl Service DcAve Manager Web Service DcAve Manager Media Service The fllwing DcAve Agent Services must be running and prperly cnfigured: DcAve Agent Cnnectr Service Security Permissins The accunt perfrming the installatin must be the farm administratr accunt. The accunt running the Cnnectr Jbs must have: Read/Write access t the SharePint Cntent Database. Page 3

4 Installatin and Cnfiguratin DcAve File Share Cnnectr must be enabled frm the Agent Cnfiguratin tl befre it can be cnfigured. This is dne either during the DcAve Agent installatin, r can be perfrmed later frm the DcAve Agent Cnfiguratin tl by fllwing the steps belw. Enabling the Cnnectr Mdule First, pen the DcAve Agent Cnfiguratin tl: 1. Click the Start Buttn > All Prgrams > AvePint DcAve 5.4 (r yur versin) > DcAve Agent Tls > DcAve Agent Cnfiguratin. 2. Under Agent Type, Click the Strage Optimizatin tab. 3. Select the Cnnectr checkbx, and the Cntent Library checkbx belw it. 4. Click Cnfirm, and clse the tl. Once the DcAve Cnnectr mdule has been enabled, yu must next cnfigure the external strage lcatin prfiles fr the devices yu wish t cnnect t SharePint. Cnfiguring External Strage Settings Prfiles External Strage Settings prfiles allw yu t custmize hw the external strage drives will interact with yur SharePint envirnment, fr example hw illegal characters in SharePint are treated r hw security permissins are mapped frm the file system. These prfiles shuld be cnfigured befre cnnecting any external strage systems t yur SharePint envirnment; hwever, the pre-created default prfile will suffice fr testing purpses. We will first walk thrugh cnfiguring a Net Share Settings prfile, if yu are cnfiguring a Clud Share Settings Prfile yu may skip t that sectin belw. Net Share Settings Prfile Frm the DcAve Welcme Screen: 1.) Click Strage Optimizatin > Cnnectr > Cntent Library > Settings. 2.) By default yu will be taken t the Net Share Settings tab. Frm here there are fur additinal sectins t cnfigure: Functin Settings, Prperties Mapping, Cmmn Mapping, and Security Mapping. After yu have cnfigured yur desired settings frm each f the previus fur sectins detailed belw, yu will cmpile them in t ne aggregate Settings Prfile. 3.) Click the Functin Settings sectin. Enter in a Prfile Name at the tp and cnfigure the settings belw. Mst are self-explanatry, hwever, mre infrmatin regarding these ptins can be fund in the DcAve User Guide. Click Save t save this Functin Settings Prfile. It will nw be selectable frm the Settings Prfile sectin. 4.) Click the Prperties Mapping sectin. 5 in the DcAve User Guide. Click Save t save this Prperties Mapping File. It will nw be selectable frm the Settings Prfile sectin. 5.) Click the Cmmn Mapping sectin. Enter in a Prfile Name at the tp and cnfigure the settings belw. Mst are self-explanatry, hwever, mre infrmatin regarding these ptins can be fund in the DcAve User Guide. Click Save t save this Cmmn Mapping file. It will nw be selectable frm the Settings Prfile sectin. 6.) Click the Security Mapping sectin. Enter in a Prfile Name at the tp and cnfigure the settings belw. Mst are self-explanatry, hwever, mre infrmatin regarding these ptins can be fund in the DcAve User Guide. Click Save t save this Security Mapping file. It will nw be selectable frm the Settings Prfile sectin. 7.) Click the Settings Prfile tab. Enter in a Prfile Name at the tp and select a functin settings prfile, a prperties mapping file, a cmmn mapping file, and a security mapping file. Click Save t save the Net Share Settings Prfile. It will nw be selectable when cnnecting a Net Share drive. Clud Strage Settings Prfile Frm the DcAve Welcme Screen: 1.) Click Strage Optimizatin > Cnnectr > Cntent Library > Settings. 2.) Enter in a Prfile Name at the tp and select a functin settings prfile, a prperties mapping file, a cmmn mapping file, and a security mapping file. Click Save t save the Net Share Settings Prfile. It will nw be selectable when cnnecting a Clud Strage drive. After yu have cnfigured yur external strage lcatin prfiles, yu may nw install the File Share Cnnectr fr any SharePint web applicatin thrugh the DcAve Interface. Installing the File Share Cnnectr Mdule Frm the DcAve Welcme Screen: 1. Click Strage Optimizatin > Cnnectr > Cntent Library > Installer. Page 5

6 2. Select yur farm frm the clumn n the left. This will ppulate the Install Cnnectr clumn with the web applicatins in this farm. 3. Click the Install Feature buttn. DcAve will install the Cnnectr mdule t be available acrss each f the web applicatins in yur farm. Click the OK buttn nce the installatin has cmpleted. 4. (DcAve 5.4) Yu may ptinally click the Cnfigure buttn under Net Share Server Cnfiguratin and enter in the cnnectin infrmatin t any Net Share Drives yu will set up cntent libraries fr. Click Save after yu have cmpleted entering a prfile, and clse ut the windw when yu have added prfiles fr each f the net share servers yu plan t cnnect t. 5. Click the Activate buttn in the Active Feature clumn fr each Web Applicatin that yu wish t enable the File Share Cnnectr fr. 6. After yu have activated the File Share Cnnectr fr a web applicatin, yu must cnfigure it by clicking the Cnfigure buttn under the Cnnectr Type clumn. Select t enable a Net Share drive, a Clud Strage drive, r bth fr this web applicatin by checking the crrespnding checkbxes. Yu must als specify a previusly cnfigured Settings Prfile that each shuld use in their cnnectin. Click the Apply buttn when finished. 7. If any file share cntent management will be perfrmed utside f SharePint, it is recmmended that yu schedule a sync data interval by clicking the clck icn Data clumn. in the Sync (SharePint is unable t track events nt initiated by SharePint, fr example file changes initiated in the file system r items being deleted in the clud. By syncing data n a regular interval yu will ensure that SharePint is wrking with up t date infrmatin.) Cnfiguratin fr the DcAve File Share Cnnectr is nw cmplete. Yu can nw create special cntent libraries in SharePint that can hst their cntent externally. Creating a Cnnected Cntent Library in SharePint Frm yur SharePint Site Hme Screen: 1. Click Site Actins > Create. 2. Under the Libraries clumn, select Cntent Library. 3. Cnfigure the New Cntent Library settings. Mst f these settings are the same as a typical dcument library, hwever in the Cntent Library Template rw, specify whether yu wish t cnnect a Net Share drive, a Clud Strage drive, r a Net Share drive with Windw Media Service enabled. 4. Click the Create buttn. Page 6

7 Cnfigure the Cnnected Cntent Library Settings The next screen will allw yu t specify the lcatin and lgin credentials fr the type f drive specified. We will first walk thrugh cnfiguring a Net Share Drive, if yu are cnfiguring a Clud Share drive, yu may skip t that sectin belw. Net Share Settings 1. If yu cnfigured a server prfile frm the DcAve interface, yu may select the Use Server Prfiles Checkbx. Select the desired prfile frm the drp-dwn bx that appears, cmplete the path t where the dcuments resides n that server, and enter in a dmain\username and passwrd t cnnect t that lcatin. 2. If yu did nt cnfigure server prfiles frm the DcAve interface, enter in the desired server path, and a dmain\username and passwrd t cnnect t that lcatin. 3. Cnfigure the remaining Cntent Library settings: Basic Lad Cnfiguratin: If selected, uplads the rt flder. This will cnnect all f the current dcuments hused in the Net Share Strage device t SharePint, if this ptin is left unselected, nly newly upladed dcuments will be displayed in SharePint. Lad Permissin frm File System: If selected, the permissins set in the file system will verride the permissins given t SharePint users. Lad Metadata frm File System: If selected, lads any metadata fund in the file system. Keep Name Cnsistent: If selected, renames the SharePint flder t match the Net Share flder name. 4. Click the Save buttn t cmplete the cnfiguratin. DcAve will autmatically stre any new files upladed t this library in the specified Net Share flder. If the cnnectin prfile yu specified in DcAve fr this web applicatin includes a data sync interval, it will als cntinue t re-sync the data at that interval. Clud Strage Settings 1. Enter yur desired cntainer name and the username and API key given by yur clud service prvider. 2. Select the Cntent Library Permissin Settings. 3. Cnfigure the remaining Cntent Library settings: Basic Lad Cnfiguratin: If selected, uplads the rt flder. This will cnnect all f the current dcuments hused in the Net Share Strage device t SharePint, if this ptin is left unselected, nly newly upladed dcuments will be displayed in SharePint. File Lad Limited Number: If selected, yu may specify the maximum number f sub flders and files t uplad per lad peratin. Page 7

8 Keep Name Cnsistent: If selected, renames the SharePint flder t match the Net Share flder name. 4. Click the Save buttn t cmplete the cnfiguratin. DcAve will autmatically stre any new files upladed t this lcatin in the specified Clud Strage lcatin. If the cnnectin prfile yu specified in DcAve fr this web applicatin includes a data sync interval, it will als cntinue t re-sync the data at that interval. Cngratulatins!
