All connections must be initiated through standalone Citrix Access Gateway Plug-In application. Please follow instructions below carefully.

2 1. Download and install one of these free products unless the there is a need to install McAfee (purchase) a. Avast - b. Sophos - avast! Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS Xstandalone startup guide Specific installation available in separate documentation Make sure at least File Shield is turned on, and the virus definition updates are not older than 30 days. After download, the Avast! install image will be mounted and visible on your desktop. Double-click it, and then drag it to Application folder to extract. You will need to install Avast! by double-clicking on Avast icon in Application folder (You can get to Application folder by selecting 'Go' from main Mac OS X menu at the top, then Applications).

3 2. Make sure the Mac OS X Firewall is turned on. From the Mac Launch bar at the bottom select 'Settings' > 'Security & Privacy' > Firewall tab.

4 Download and Install the Citrix Access Gateway Plug-In a. b. Choose Install for all users of this computer > Continue Click Install

5 Macs always present a login screen for installs. The username and password are ONLY known to the user. The user should enter their Name and password here. Click Install Software Finish the install c. You need to have the Citrix Online Plug-In installed. We prefer you use Citrix Online Plug-In available through citrix2.akerman.com or citrix.akerman.com. NOTE: Please note that the latest version of the Citrix Receiver 11.8 and 11.7 are not compatible with Citrix Access Gateway Plug-In on Mac OS X 10.8 (will prevent it from executing). d. If you already have the Citrix Online Plug-In installed, you need to do nothing. If you have the Citrix Receiver installed you might need to uninstall it, if it is a version 11.8 or e. To uninstall Citrix Receiver, download the latest Citrix Receiver client install from

6 Click Download your file manually to go immediately to the download. Launch CitrixReceiver.dmg. Running the dmg will mount the drive and initiate the Citrix install window. As this is an uninstall, click Uninstall Citrix Receiver

7 After the uninstall completes, go back to the desktop and unmount the Citrix Receiver drive by Right clicking on the icon and choosing Eject. You don't need the Citrix Receiver, unless you use Google Chrome as your default browser, which we don't recommend or support. Please note, there are numerous issues with Google Chrome and Citrix. IT only supports Safari and Firefox. Set Safari as your Default Browser Open Safari (Blue Icon) Looks like a compass. From the menu select Preferences > General, and set it as default.

8 Select Safari. Then close the window with the red circle on the top left. 5. To establish the Citrix session, please launch the Citrix Access Gateway from the Launchpad (or pin it to your Mac toolbar by dragging it from Launchpad). Launch Access Gateway The first time you open the Access Gateway Plug-In, you will see a connection settings window.

9 Select Edit and create a new connection: the name can be anything that means something to you, for connect specify citrix.akerman.com. Close the Create New Connection Interface box > select the newly created entry under connection settings, and click Connect.

10 If the EPA analysis is successful, you will be presented with authentication prompt. After authentication is complete, you will be redirected to the browser and your normal Citrix screen will open. NOTE: Access to Citrix is only support through the Citrix Access Gateway; it is not supported through the browser on the Mac OS X or using the Citrix Receiver. If you are having difficulty accessing Citrix and have followed the instructions as to firewall and AV, make sure you are using the Citrix Access Gateway and not the browser.
