1 CDUfiles User Guide Chapter 1: Accessing your data with CDUfiles Here are the first steps to using CDUfiles. Sign In Open your web browser and enter cdufiles.cdu.edu.au or Note: Use cdufiles.egnyte.com on mobile device applications. Enter your address and password to log in. CDUfiles User Guide Page 1

3 Chapter 2: Working inside the interface Uploading files Select files from your desktop and drag them anywhere on the screen. Alternately, drag files directly into a folder in the directory on the left side of the screen. You can upload files up to 10 GB in size this way. Drag and drop is available for Firefox, Chrome, Safari (versions 6 and newer) and Internet Explorer 10. Note: You can install Google Frames support plugin to use drag and drop on earlier versions of IE. A second way to upload folders is via the Browse for Files button, accessed through the Upload dialog. As with drag and drop, you ll be able to upload multiple files as long as each one is smaller than 10 GB. Selecting Files You can select all files (1) or individual files (2). Depending on what has been selected the options in the "Quick Menu" (3) will vary. CDUfiles User Guide Page 3

4 Download Download files and folders by selecting them and clicking Download in the file menu (1). You can also access the Quick Menu of any file to take file actions, including download (2). Navigate To get back to the start click the home button (1) You can navigate back to previous folders by clicking on the previous folder name or the back arrow in the folder path (2). You can also click the back arrow in your browser to return to previous folders in CDUfiles. To move through folders in CDUfiles, use the folder list (3) or click on folder icons to access them. 5 Preview Files (Online) To view a file online without downloading it, hover over the files icon until it changes to an eye (1). This feature works with most file types. Bookmarks Bookmarks are shortcuts that allow you to navigate to a folder quickly. To navigate to your bookmarks, click on the bookmark icon (1) and select View Bookmarks. (2). When a folder has been bookmarked a bookmark icon (3) appears next to the folder icon. The bookmark folder view shows all the folders that have been bookmarked (1) and (2) and the location of each folder (3). CDUfiles User Guide Page 5

6 To bookmark a folder, select it and click the bookmark option (1) from the action menu and select "Add Bookmark" (2) Or you can select the folder (1) and choose "Add Bookmark" (2) CDUfiles User Guide Page 6

7 Chapter 3: File Collaboration Share files with outside business partners, work together with colleagues in the office, and share folders with new users in CDUfiles. Share Links If you want to share a few files with a colleague, use a file or folder link. This is more secure than ing an attachment, and the recipient does not have to be an CDUfiles user. To share a file or folder link, select the folder or file (1) or click the action menu (2). When the sharing dialogue opens you can set the options. You ll also be given the option to either copy or the link. You can get the CDUfiles system to send an to the addresses you specify (1), choose the options of who can view the link (2) and change the advanced options (3). CDUfiles User Guide Page 7

8 Once this has been done you can either get the link (4) (to send a link through your own client, or embed it in a document or website, (click Copy Link and paste it)) or send it as an . Note that any settings you choose will still apply for this pasted link. The options for restricting viewing (2) include ; Password-protected link: Anyone with the link s password will have access. Account users only: Only users of your CDUfiles account can access the link. Account users you the link to: Only users of your CDUfiles account whom you specify can access the link. The advanced option include; (1) Specify when the link will expire (2) Being notified when the link has been clicked (3) Including the folder name in the link to make it clear where the link links to. Once set click the back arrow (4) The recipient gets an with a link to an CDUfiles page which has a link to download the file. CDUfiles User Guide Page 8

9 If you selected "Notify me when the link is clicked" you will get an when the file has been accessed. The other options under Change link options allow you to set an expiration date for the link (by date or # of clicks), configure notifications whenever the link is accessed, and include the file or folder name in the link. For file links, you can also choose whether the link will always reference the most recent version or refer to the version of the document that existed at the time you created the link. (by default, the link will take recipients to the LATEST version of the file). CDUfiles User Guide Page 9
