1 Instructions for Department of Public Health (DPH) WebConnect (Mac) UCSF at SFGH Computing and Network Services Hours of Operation: Monday Friday 8 AM to 5PM Pacific Time Website: Phone: (415) We highly recommend that you use a Windows computer to connect to the DPH WebConnect website. Macintosh computers are not recommended and not supported by DPH IT. Although we have been able to successfully connect to DPH WebConnect using Macintosh computers, we do not guarantee that they will always have a successful connection. In addition, there are known issues related to Apple and Java updates that often break a previously successful connection. Minimum Requirements Use of the SSL VPN requires a Mac with a broadband Internet connection and the following minimum requirements: Hardware Requirements Software Requirements Intel Core 2 Duo processor or higher 1 GB RAM or higher Video adapter and monitor with Super VGA (800x600) or higher resolution Mac OS 10.6.x, 10.7.x, or 10.8.x Safari or higher The latest Java and Citrix Receiver client Symantec Endpoint Protection Notes: 10.5 is no longer supported. Web Browser: Safari Other browsers (Firefox and Chrome) are not compatible at this time. Page 1

2 Install Citrix Client for Mac OS 10.6, 10.7 and Open Safari and go to > Downloads > Most Downloaded > Citrix Receiver 2. Click Download Receiver for Mac 3. The file will begin to download to your computer 4. Click on Finder and open your Downloads folder. 5. Double click CitrixReceiverWeb.dmg 6. Click Install Citrix Receiver.pkg 7. Click Continue 8. Click Continue at the Citrix Installer Welcome Screen Page 2

3 9. Click Continue to accept the Software License Agreement 10. Click Agree to continue installing the software and then Click Install at the next screen 11. Enter in your computer s administrator account password the username and password one uses to log into one s computer. Click Install Software Page 3

4 12. Choose Close Page 4

5 Make sure Java is updated and enabled (10.6 Snow Leopard). As of 2/5/13, the latest version (for 10.6 Snow Leopard) is Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 12. See below for Java instructions for 10.7 and 10.8 (Lion and Mountain Lion) For Snow Leopard 10.6, Java is located in the Utilities folder Make sure the Java applet is enabled. Check off the box, Enable applet plug in. Page 5

6 Update Java for 10.7 and 10.8, Lion and Mountain Lion 1. You ll either need to install Java or update it from the Java website, 2. To install it, go to > Click on Free Java Download. The latest version as of 2/5/13 is Version 7, Update Click agree, and start free download. 4. The file will begin to download to your computer 5. Click on Finder and open your Downloads folder. 6. Double click the file, jre 7u13 macosx x64.dmg 7. Double click the icon, Java 7 Update 13.pkg 8. Install Java 7 9. Click continue, and install Page 6

7 10. Enter in your computer s administrator account password the username and password one uses to log into one s computer. Click Install Software 11. After Java is installed, click reload (command + R) or quit (command + Q) to enable Java in your browser. Page 7

8 Login Procedure Open Safari and make sure Pop Up Blockers are off: For Snow Leopard 10.6: Go to Safari Menu > Uncheck "Block Pop Up Windows" For Lion and Mountain Lion, Go to the Safari Menu > Preferences > Security Make sure Block pop up windows is unchecked. Make sure other boxes are checked. 1. Go to 2. Use your IN Domain Active Directory user account Username: FirstName<space>LastName Password: Your IN Domain Active Directory Password 3. Click the Sign In button Page 8

9 4. On the next page, press the button on your white Entrust Token. Enter the token number displayed on your token and then click Sign In 5. For Java on 10.8 and 10.7, you might see this window. Check Always trust content, then Run 6. You might see the HostChecker Setup Control Warning window. Choose Always. HostChecker will download and launch the application. 7. Please wait, the next step might take a few minutes. Page 9

10 8. You may be prompted to enter in your operating system password to allow java to make changes. Enter in your computer s username and password 9. Depending on which version of Java, you may see this window 10. Click on Citrix Web Portal 11. Another window will open and you ll see the SFDPH Web Application Portal! Page 10

11 Troubleshooting If you are unable to login, please review the information below for known problems and resolutions. Problem/Message Nothing happens after clicking on Sign In. Or, inactive plug in (see picture below) Solution Check to see if Java is installed or needs updating. Check Java preferences. In the Finder go to Go > Utilities > Java Preferences.app. Check box to "Enable applet plug in and Web Start applications" Stuck on Host Checker or nothing happens after signing in with token code Also see document, WebConnect Troubleshooting for Macs pdf for instructions with pictures Make sure pop up blocker is turned off. Uncheck "Block Pop Up Windows" Refer to Host Checker Troubleshooting document. You ll need to enable the Java plugin. You may receive this window: "Java requires that you type your password." You may receive this window: "An applet from "webconnect.sfdph.org" is requesting access to your computer." You may receive this error: You are not allowed to log in. You are not authorized Enter your computer account administrator username and password. Check off the box, "Allow all applets from "webconnect.sfdph.org" with this signature" and choose Allow. Check to see if Citrix is installed. Security group permissions need to be modified. Please contact the Service Desk at Page 11

12 If you get to this page, you need to make sure you re adding /myucsf at the end of the URL. The correct URL is Edit your Safari bookmark to reflect the proper website Verify that you have one of the approved Anti virus packages installed and that you have updated the virus pattern files within the past 15 days.
