5 About the Conference The CPV-13 Conference carries on the tradition of being the world-wide leading scientific conference relating to CPV technology, which began in New Orleans, USA in 2002, followed by Alice Springs, Australia, 2003; Scottsdale, USA, 2005; El Escorial, Spain, 2007; Palm Springs, USA, 2008; Freiburg, Germany, 2010; Las Vegas, USA, 2011; Toledo, Spain, 2012; Miyazaki, Japan, 2013; Albuquerque, USA, 2014; Aix-les-Bains, France, 2015 and most recently Freiburg, Germany in The CPV conferences provide the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge research, industrialization and the market for concentrator photovoltaic technologies. The scope of the conference is devoted to in-depth technical discussions on the science, engineering, performance and economics of CPV systems and its components. The objectives of the CPV-13 conference are to: permit the sharing of new and critical research information leading to higher performance and lower electricity cost from solar concentrator photovoltaic technologies; encourage discussions of field experience of solar concentrator projects for the development of more reliable technologies and improved technology standards; stimulate an exchange of views concerning entry and large-scale markets appropriate for concentrator photovoltaic technologies; provide insight for further research on solar concentrator photovoltaic technologies.
