2 PORT OF RIJEKA AUTHORITY Founded by the Croatian Government to manage, develop and use the Port of Rijeka, as a port open for international public transport; Main activities: management and planning of the strategic development of the Port of Rijeka - economic functions taken over by the numerous concession holders, i.e. private enterprises;

3 PORT OF RIJEKA Port of Rijeka is the largest seaport in Croatia, second economic centre and third largest Croatian city Port of Rijeka is the most convenient transit hub for Croatia, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, the western part of Ukraine, the southern part of Poland and the southern part of Germany Geostrategic position of Adriatic Sea as gateway to Europe represents a huge potential for transport and logistic activities

4 PORT OF RIJEKA BASINS Port of Rijeka is a multi-purpose port facility capable of handling almost any type of cargo Port system operates within the Kvarner Bay at the following locations: Rijeka conventional general cargo, grain and phosphate terminal, fruit terminal Sušak / Brajdica container terminal, conventional general cargo, timber Bakar bulk cargo terminal, Ro-Ro terminal Omišalj oil terminal Raša - Bršica livestock terminal, timber terminal and hinterland warehouse Štalije

6 NORTH ADRIATIC PORTS POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENT Potential Development Scenario for North Adriatic ports based on: Trade growth & larger ships at all European ports Deeper water facilities at North Adriatic ports & competitive market to attract more direct calls Longer trains for inland distribution from all European ports Expected total growth of 227% for North Adriatic ports compared to 66% market growth to reach 6 MTEU per annum by 2030 PORT OF RIJEKA ADVANTAGES Port of special economic interest for the Republic of Croatia Extraordinary position and conditions o sea depth, good sheltered from seaside, o positioned deeply into the European continent meaning a considerably shorter and faster land transport route to the markets of the highly developed countries

7 CONTAINER TERMINALS IN PORT OF RIJEKA North Adriatic Ports market growth potentials secure smooth and continuous development of both terminals in the Port of Rijeka. Start of operation of new terminal is targeted to cover increase of market demand and lack of capacity New terminal will represent added value because of its characteristics 20 meters deep sea, longer pier, wider area and good railway connections. 8 ADRIATIC GATE CONTAINER TERMINAL Port of Rijeka Authority mission is to answer the challenges of instability by successful completion of its plans and projects. Adriatic Gate Container Terminal with pier length of 628 m and sea depth of 14,2 m, stacking and handling area covering 17 ha and annual handling capacity of TEU, represents significant continuity of development of the Port of Rijeka.

9 Project NAPA STUDIES successful partnership TEN-T call December 2013 NAPA STUDIES - Development of North Adriatic ports multimodal connections and their efficient integration into the Core Network Action No EU S Project partners from 3 countries: Croatia, Slovenia and Italy 4 North Adriatic Ports and their partners Croatian partners: Port of Rijeka Authority and HŽ Infrastruktura d.o.o. Preparation of preliminary and main design documentations and construction permits for reconstruction of two railway stations (i) Rijeka-cargo, and (ii) Rijeka-Brajdica Activity 2.: UPGRADING AND EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENTS OF PORT-RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE...foresees studies and design to support the realization of new railway facilities and connections included in the Development plans of the ports of Rijeka, Koper, Trieste and Venice.

Project activities: Construction of the new intermodal yard Upgrading of the railway station Rijeka-Brajdica Construction of the new track in the connecting tunnel Project aim: To provide upgraded railway infrastructure conditions to attract modern vessels with additional cargo volumes in the Nord Adriatic; Consequently, a further ports integration in the European transport network, with a final effect of re-balancing traffic between different European regions.
