2 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Tuesday s Child s Celebrating Achievement is an exciting fundraiser which supports its vital programs. Tuesday s Child s programs help families address behavioral issues through individualized training for both parents and children. This year s event will feature three honorees that represent the scope and impact of our program on Chicagoland. A: Recent program graduate who exemplifies Tuesday s Child values Former child alum that demonstrates the ideals of Tuesday s Child Chicagoland business that share s Tuesday s Child s passion for children and families The fundraiser is networking-oriented with passed appetizers, buffet, beverages and music. There is also a VIP champagne reception for sponsors and a short program for our honorees. By supporting this event, your company will have an opportunity to reach over 2,000 of Tuesday s Child s closest supporters - including executives, businesses, nonprofits and young professionals.

3 ABOUT TUESDAY S CHILD Tuesday s Child enables families to thrive through positive parent training, inclusive behavioral classrooms and support services. Our proven model impacts home, school and the community. Our mission helps families address behavioral issues through individualized training for both parents and children. We work with families who need more than standard parenting advice. Our evidenced-based program centers on an individualized approach that enables our team to address each family s specific situation. Tuesday s Child was founded in 1980 as a research project at Children s Memorial Hospital. Today, as an independent agency, we are widely recognized as one of Chicago s premier child development resources. Tuesday s Child provides family with the following services: Behavioral Intervention: Offered in both 8 and 12 week sessions in both English and Spanish. The program is delivered in group sessions for working parents and one-on-one sessions delivered through trained past program participants called Peer Mentors. While parents work with peer mentors, children receive behavioral intervention in our behaviorally focused classrooms working on Time On Task, Compliance, Participation and Socialization. Outreach: A combination of multi-week and one-day training programs, based on the model of the centerbased behavioral program, presented to families and service providers at schools and other human service organizations. Outreach Services may include parent training, child development and professional staff training. Summer Camp: A day-camp that mixes educational field trips with developmental intervention and behavior management for children 3-6. IEP Support for Parents: Assists parents with navigating schools service offerings and advocating for support services to qualifying children. Prevention Initiative: In-home parent education and childhood development support for low income families.

4 STATEMENT OF NEED Tuesday s Child addresses a number of community challenges that directly impact children, parents, workers, families and their employers. The numbers of children impacted by various mental health issues is staggering: The proportion of children in the U.S. who have a developmental disability such as autism has increased 17% since the late 1990s (2011) 7.6% of children have been diagnosed with ADHD (2008) 8.8 per 1,000 youth had a diagnosis of autism (2012) 9-12% of children under 18 receive treatment for emotional or behavioral problems annually Untreated mental health disorders among youth can lead to academic/vocational failure, social isolation, substance abuse, health problems, suicide, and incarceration Workplace Impact Behavioral and childhood mental health problems, can also dramatically impact their parents and thus - the professional workplace and a company s bottom line. The dual responsibility of caregiver and employee can affect an individual emotionally, financially and physically. On average, children with behavioral health disorders cost $937 annually for outpatient care and $5,384 annually for inpatient care A family with a child diagnosed with ADHD spends over $400 annually, on average, for prescription medication 42% of families with a diagnosed child report spending more than $500 out of pocket 17% of caregivers of children with behavior health problems have stopped working

5 The Grown-Ups Ball: Celebrating Achievement will be the 33rd such event since the founding of Tuesday s Child. This longevity exemplifies Tuesday s Child s programmatic success by impressing new donors with efficiency, frugality and, most important, results. The event not only provides guests with delicious food, music and a selection of fine wine, beer and a signature cocktail; but also with real-life stories of the lives Tuesday s Child touches everyday through storytelling and firsthand accounts of families. These stories are presented in a unique way that maximizes guests opportunity to network with friends, colleagues and others, resulting in an enjoyable experience while informing attendees of the important work they are supporting. Sponsoring the event provides you a number of benefits especially the opportunity to reach out to over 200 event attendees and over 2,000 supporters of Tuesday s Child.
