2 1 RULES FOR TRANSPORTING DANGEROUS GOODS IN SMALLER QUANTITIES 1. Limited amunts accrding t ADR Exemptins accrding t ADR On the next page is a list f the demands fr the tw different set f rules fr dangerus gds in smaller quantities, while there is a blck flw chart fr the determinatin f regulatry f carriage n the last pages. 1.1 Transprting limited quantities f dangerus gds accrding t ADR 3.4 The driver must have an ADR chap. 1.3 training, which has t be dcumented. Max. 1 litre in inner packaging and ttal grss mass f 30 kg in uter packaging, which must be UN certified. Several uter packagings can be carried. The inner packagings must be securely packed in intermediate packaging material, absrbent if necessary, in rder t be prtected under nrmal cnditins f carriage. Outer packaging must be UN certified. Marking f uter packaging/package with: The marking fr limited quantities (3.4.7), Overpack 1, Directin arrws n tw ppsite sites. The uter packaging(s) must be placed in the vehicle accrding t the directin arrws. The uter packaging(s) must be secured inside the vehicle. Smking is prhibited when handling dangerus gds, nearby the vehicle, and inside the vehicle s carg space. 1 Overpack indicates that additinal uter packaging is used. The marking must be used when packagings are packed in additinal packaging in the frm f bxes, drums etc. r is wrapped in fil. Overpack is als used in ther situatins than carriage in accrdance with the regulatins in ADR

3 If dangerus gds are spilled in the vehicle, clean up after the unlading. It is allwed t bring passengers n a carriage f dangerus gds when driving in accrdance with the regulatins in ADR 3.4, since part 8 in ADR des nt need t be cmplied with in principle. A check list has been prepared in appendix 2 in rder t secure that the varius markings are nt frgtten etc. befre the carriage starts. REMEMBER: If yu d nt have UN certified packagings fr yur wn slutins yu must drive accrding t ADR 3.4. Only bring packagings cntaining up t 1 litre packed in a certified uter packaging. 1.2 Transprting dangerus gds accrding t exemptins ADR : The driver must have an ADR chap. 1.3 training, which has t be dcumented. Crrect packing in UN certified packaging. Classificatin and preparatin f a transprt dcument fr all chemicals and substances. It must be summarized in a table r such that there is being transprted a maximum f 1000 units. Marking f each packaging/package with danger placards etc. (fr UN 1170 with n. 3), Directin arrws n tw ppsite sites. Bring at least ne certified fire extinguisher weighing at least 2 kg. The extinguishing agent must be suitable fr use n a vehicle and cmply with relevant demands. The prtable fire extinguisher must be prvided with a seal, which indicates, that it has nt been used. The prtable fire extinguisher has t be easy accessible fr the driver f the vehicle. Bring certified spark free flashlight. 2 2 ) Spark free flashlights are equivalent t the prtable lighting apparatus in ADR. 3

A check list has been prvided in the transprt dcument in rder t help remember everything as well as being a tl fr calculating units and thereby a dcumentatin f cmpliance with the amunts being transprted. In sectin 6 there are examples f transprt dcuments and appendix 1 is a master fr the transprt dcument fr an ADR transprt. 2 PLACARDS The mst cmmnly used placards in carriages frm SDU are: Class 3 liquid desensitized explsives Class 6.1 txic substances Class 8 crrsive substances 4

5 On the fllwing 3 pages there will be a list f placards with a descriptin f the symbls. The list is frm ADR chap Nte that in sme cases different clurs f the symbls are allwed i.e. placard 3 shuld have a red backgrund while the flame and the number can be either white r black. 5

8 3 CARRIAGE OF CHEMICALS - CAMPUS ODENSE AND EXTERNAL ADRESSES When carriage f dangerus gds internally between SDU s departments at Campusvej, Niels Bhrs Alle, Windsløwsparken r special carriage t anther address, i.e. in cnnectin with field wrk, a transprt dcument must be filled in and brught alng during the carriage f gds. The fllwing sectins 3.1 and 3.2 are lists f chemicals, which are being transprted in cnnectin with field wrk. In each table is listed the name f the chemical, the descriptin f gds, if it is dangerus gds, the marking, and in the last clumn the packing rules and classificatin cde. Fr the preparatin f a transprt dcument there is a spreadsheet prepared in Excel with a cmpiled list f the dangerus gds chemicals. Besides the general infrmatin in the transprt dcument, state in clumn: - C with a X whether r nt the chemical is n the transprt - J number f packagings f the chemical - K type f packaging crrected if nt crrect - L the amunt f chemical - M the unit fr the declaratin f the amunt f chemical And clumn N then indicates the calculated number f pints fr the particular carriage. After filling in the relevant data fr the particular carriage, delete rws which are nt relevant, print the entire transprt dcument, and bring it alng n the carriage f gds. The transprt dcument can be fund in appendix 1.

A transprt dcument must be prepared in accrdance with ADR (see appendix 1) fr these types f carriages and the driver must have the ADR 1.3 training. 4 CARRIAGE OF BOAT FUEL FOR FIELD WORK SDU s main activities are educatin and research while transprting bat fuel in cnnectin with field wrk is ancillary t the universities main activity. Therefre, the exemptins in ADR (c) can be applied. The general regulatins in ADR d nt apply fr (ADR text): - The carriage undertaken by enterprises which is ancillary t their main activity, such as deliveries frm building r civil engineering sites, r in relatin t surveying, repairs and maintenance, in quantities f nt mre than 450 litres per packaging and within the maximum quantities specified in Measures shall be taken t prevent any leakage f cntents in nrmal cnditins f carriage. Bat fuel is petrl with UN number 1203, and is a Class 3, packaging grup II. 13

14 Accrding t ADR yu can transprt maximum 333 litres f petrl fr SDU s wn use f bat fuel in cnnectin with field wrk. REMEMBER the bat fuel HAS t be n the same carriage as the bat! As is als mentined: - The cntainer r cntainers must be secured frm leakage during the carriage as well as - the cntainers must be fastened during the carriage. Yu d nt have t bring alng a transprt dcument r ther dcumentatin fr the carriage f this gd (bat fuel). But REMEMBER anther car cannt bring fuel fr the bat! Then it is distributin and this exemptin des nt apply. 5 CARRIAGE OF CHEMICALS OR WASTE, WHICH ARE DANGEROUS GOODS, BETWEEN CAMPUS ODENSE AND ABROAD As a general rule which applies fr all carriages: nly bring substances in very small amunts nly a few grams r up t 100 ml. In these cases they shuld be assessed with the relevant chemicals t make sure they cmply with all regulatins. Amng ther things the transprt dcument must be in Danish and English, German r French. There can als be ther things which must be checked when preparing the transprt dcument. Examples f substances, which are being transprted abrad, are sent t the safety advisr fr the preparatin f a transprt dcument and fr feedback n any further actins if needed in cnnectin with the upcming carriage f gds. 14

17 8 TRANSPORT DOCUMENT INTERNAL OR SPECIAL CARRIAGE OF DANGEROUS GOODS ACOORDING TO ADR When carriage f dangerus gds internally between SDU s departments n Campusvej, Niels Bhrs Alle and Windsløwsparken r special carriage t anther address (i.e. field address) the frm belw must be brught alng n the carriage. After the carriage has ended the frm is placed in a flder with the service manager as a dcumentatin f which internal carriages f gds the SDU has perfrmed during the year. 1. Tick ff cnsignr/cnsignee 2. Tick ff in the left clumn, which substances are being transprted. 3. Nte the number f packagings and type (bttles, cardbard bxes, drums etc.). 4. Indicate the amunt being transprted 5. Calculate the number f pints. Max units in ttal in the carriage. 6. Date and signature n the transprt dcument. Fllwing factrs are multiplied with the amunt in rder t calculate the number f pints: - Transprt categry 1 factr = 50 : - Transprt categry 2 factr = 3: - Transprt categry 3 factr = 1. The ttal number f pints must nt exceed pints. Remember prir t the carriage: The driver must have an ADR chap. 1.3 training, which must be dcumented! Crrect packaging f each unit in UN certified packaging! Classificatin and preparatin f a transprt dcument fr all dangerus gds substances, see table n the next page!
