4 INSTRUCTIONS FOR EXAM CANDIDATES Please review prir t writing exam. 1. Yu must prvide pht identificatin t the exam invigilatr. 2. The time limit fr this examinatin varies depending n exam written. Be sure yu are attempting the crrect examinatin paper. 3. Only authrized reference material are permitted in the exam rm: Safety Standards Act, General and Electrical Safety Regulatins; BC Electrical Cde Regulatin; (Canadian Electrical Cde, BC Amendments and CSA Errata), BCSA Bulletins, BCSA Directives, and BCSA Fee Schedule, and ther listed Standards. The Canadian Electrical Cde Handbk ( an explanatin f the rules ) and the Canadian Electrical Cde Pcket Reference are NOT allwed. Markings in reference materials such as frmula and examples r calculatins are t be remved. Crss reference ntes and highlighting are acceptable. N ther reference materials except as nted in the reference material list fr the specific examinatin may be used. 4. Only nn-prgrammable calculatrs are permitted in the exam rm. Calculatrs incrprating tapes r any frm f pre-prgrammable recrding devices are nt allwed. 5. Items that will nt be permitted int the examinatin rm: Ntes, scrap papers, briefcases r similar items, backpacks, cellular telephnes, lap tps, nte pads, palm held persnal digital assistants r prgrammable recrding devices r similar. 6. D nt cmmunicate with ther examinees. All questins must be directed t the invigilatr. 7. All answers must be marked in pen with an X n the answer sheet prvided. 8. Incrrect answers will nt receive a penalty. A minimum mark f 70% is required t pass 9. Calculated answers t questins have been runded ff. 10. At the end f the examinatin, yu must wait t be signed ut. The cmplete examinatin, answer sheet and all wrking papers (whether used r nt) must be returned t the invigilatr befre leaving. Cunt the numbered sheets issued and ensure that all sheets are returned. The invigilatr will check reference material t ensure ntes frm the examinatin have nt been added. Material s marked will be phtcpied, attached t the returning exam package and may invalidate the examinatin. 11. Cntraventin f any instructin r rule may result in failure/disqualificatin. 12. Only frms shwing riginal signatures f FSR and applicant are acceptable. Where a FSR cannt verify experience, an riginal ntarized statement r statutry declaratin is required. Dcuments with riginal stamp and signature(s) are t be attached t the applicatin. 2) CERTIFIED ALBERTA MASTERS; A current Certificate f Qualificatin fr Certified Master Electrician (CME) Alberta, (as per the TILMA Agreement) Current is interpreted as being valid within the nted expiry date n the certificate Evaluatin f CME certificate and qualificatins t ensure there are n restrictins On the certificate The abve and; Cnfirmatin f Interprvincial qualificatin is nt required fr a valid CME hlder; hwever recrd the Interprvincial number if available Pay the required fee Pass the ARD 2 hur examinatin. Applicable items frm the Reference Material List (items 1, 2,3,4(c),5,6,7) 3) ELECTRICAL PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER, P.Eng. Qualificatins in electrical engineering (Degree in Electrical Engineering) and Prvide acceptable prf f relevant training and wrk experience. A valid registratin as a Prfessinal Engineer and a member in gd standing with the Assciatin f Prfessinal Engineers and Gescientists f British Clumbia (APEG BC), Pay the required fee and Pass the applicable Class certificate examinatin. See Electrical Safety Regulatin, # 10 fr details. 4) ELECTRICAL APPLIED SCIENCE TECHNOLOGIST, ASTT. ; Qualificatins in electrical engineering technlgy (pwer ptin) and prvide acceptable prf f relevant training and wrk experience. A valid registratin as an Applied Science Technlgist and a member in gd standing with the Applied Science Technlgists and Technicians f British Clumbia (AScTT BC), Pay the required fee and Pass the applicable Class certificate examinatin. 8 BC SAFETY AUTHORITY HOW TO VERIFY RELEVANT HIGH VOLTAGE (H.V.) ELECTRICAL WORK EXPERIENCE FOR: FIELD SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE (F.S.R.), CERTIFICATE OF QUALIFICATION (C. f Q.), CLASS A EXAMINATION OVERVIEW OF REQUIRED PROCEDURE Verificatin f High Vltage experience acceptable t the Electrical Safety Manager is required when making applicatin fr Class A Electrical Examinatin. Gather yur High Vltage experience dcumentatin as detailed belw, attach t yur Applicatin fr Electrical Field Safety Representative Certificate f Qualificatin Examinatin alng with the apprpriate additinal dcumentatin as applicable. 1.0 H.V. Experience is acceptable: when btained after yu received yur certificate f qualificatin in the trade f electrician. when undertaking electrical installatins in which the vltage exceeds 750 vlts. when perfrmed under applicable Canadian Electrical Cdes 2.0 Examples f H.V. installatins include electrical equipment/systems such as: Grunding, switchbard, breakers, discnnects raceway/cnductrs, cables, and terminatins/stress cnes, splicing kits, substatins, unit substatins, transfrmers, starters, mtrs and verhead lines. 3.0 Hw much H.V. experience is required: Experience must have been gained n a minimum f three (3) different prjects. Prjects f extended duratin with a lt f extensive H.V. experience may be cnsidered as fulfilling the requirements. Clarify by submitting apprpriate additinal written dcumentatin, sign and date. Cmpletin f a H.V. training curse may be cnsidered as part f the requirements. Attach verified true cpy f a letter f cmpletin f the H.V. training. (BCIT Curse: H.V. Level 1 TELC 0161 is equivalent t ne prject). 4.0 H.V. experience is nt acceptable: If the scpe f wrk was limited t cleaning f H.V. vaults, equipment r insulatrs. If the scpe f wrk was limited t service r maintenance f H.V. electrical equipment with n ther H.V. training r H.V. installatin experience. If the scpe f wrk was limited t installatin f grunding, raceway, testing r aircraft landing lighting. 5.0 Hw t dcument yur H.V. experience: Step 1: cmplete three (3) cpies f the frm Dcumentatin f H.V. Electrical Wrk Experience fr FSR C f Q, Class A Examinatin Applicatin, (ne fr each prject), see step 1 n next page: utline the electrical equipment, system and installatin, and describe the scpe f electrical wrk and the specific duties yu perfrmed. 5.1 Step 2: frward the frms with yur riginal signature t the electrical cntractr that was issued a permit fr the prject. Request that the Field Safety Representative (Class A ) respnsible fr the installatin wh has knwledge f yur experience: Cmpletes the lwer prtin f each applicable frm r. 5.2 Alternate t step 2: if yu are unable t cntact the previus emplyer(s) r cmpany(s): an riginal swrn affidavit/ntarized statutry declaratin utlining yur H.V. wrk experiences is required. cmplete the upper prtin f the H.V. Experience frms and attach these and ther additinal supprtive dcumentatin as Exhibits A, B, C, etc. f the affidavit. 5.3 nly frms shwing riginal signatures will be accepted.
