See BELOW How to Purchase your Ebook online. COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is a Beginners II level systematic review of the Spanish language. This course will be a gradual and proportional development of three basic skills: understanding, reading, and writing. Emphasis will be placed on reading, writing and detailed explanation of the principles of grammar. Training in reading comprehension to facilitate the student s writing and comprehension skills. This course is 100% online. Access to the Internet is necessary. As a Beginners level II course of Spanish language, it is designed for students with previous basic knowledge of Spanish. Previous knowledge, preferably, should include Student Learning Objectives from Beginners I (see SLOs below for Beginners I & II). By the end of the semester, the students will be able to read and write a higher level of basic sentences than Beginners I. It will give the student the ability to understand and convey information and/or feelings in a particular situation, as well as describe with sentences, in the past and the future and hypothetical situations, thus getting better acquainted with the way people interact in Spanish, and with their culture. The main focus of this course will be Grammar Structure and Vocabulary. Emphasis will not be given to speaking at this beginner s level, but Listening exercises will be a very important part of the semester. This is an asynchronous course. No recording exercises will be required. STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES/OBJECTIVES: (SLOs) GENERAL OBJECTIVES: 1. Acquire the necessary listening and written skills to interact, collect, identify and discuss information in Spanish on an elementary II level. 2. Build a strong basic vocabulary to be able to recognize and create dialogues used within the discipline. 3. Acquire the reading comprehension skills sufficient to independently extract information, understand and/write basic II information in the target language. 4. Ability to recognize present, imaginary (dreams and wishes) and past-life situations in Spanish. GRAMMATICAL OBJECTIVES: 1. Students will learn the stem changing and other irregularities of all verbs and their conjugation, including the past (preterite and imperfect). 2. Students will learn other modes (subjunctive and command). 3. Students will learn the different semantic difficulties presented by true and false cognates, and other particular expressions in cultural interaction.

2 4. Students will learn new grammatical issues such as Comparisons, Pronouns after prepositions, stressed possessive adjectives and pronouns. 5. Students will lean the use of Relative Pronouns. 6. Student will learn the indirect and direct object pronouns put together, their placement and usage. 7. Student will become accustomed to reading, writing and listening to basic II level sentences using the knowledge described above. Expected student preparation: Basic I previous knowledge of Spanish language necessary or strongly recommended. (See SLO s below for Beginners I) Students will complete all assigned activities in ENLINEA Ebook marked with a Small Diamond shape (See Assignments on top right hand corner of main page in EBook). Program ENLINEA will automatically grade the activities and provide feedback. Students will participate in the Grammar and Vocabulary discussion as often as possible, preferably daily Mon-Fri.
