2 CHCORG423C Maintain quality service delivery Elective Pre-requisites HLTWHS401A Maintain workplace WHS processes Elective To gain entry into CHC40212 Certificate IV in Home and Community Care a candidate must be recognised as competent, through a recognised training program or recognition process, against the following core units from CHC30312 Certificate III in Home and Community Care (or equivalent): CHCAC318B Work effectively with older people CHCDIS301C Work effectively with people with a disability CHCICS304B Work effectively with carers Target students will be those wishing to enter the industry with no previous experience such as recent school leavers or those who have already gained vocational experience but without having gained a formal qualification. Clients (Target Groups) Entry Requirements Client(s) Learning Needs Language, Literacy & Numeracy requirements If successful in attaining the qualification students will be looking to undertake typical job roles such as: Assistant coordinator In-home respite care Assistant team leader Personal care worker Care team leader Senior community care worker Community house worker Service coordinator Community support worker Support worker Day activity worker Transport coordinator As this is an entry level qualification there are no specific entry requirements for applicants except for the pre-requisite units. Individual learner needs will be identified during the application process. Prospective students will be required to apply to enrol and provide details of their current level of education, any previous experience in the industry or previous education that may make them eligible for recognition of current competence or prior learning respectively. A pre-enrolment interview will then be carried out including a needs assessment of factors such as length of time since last formal study, language and/or literacy issues, social and personal constraints. Where potential language, literacy or numeracy issues are identified through the application process a LL&N assessment will be conducted to help identify support requirements. This strategy has been developed in consultation with industry including: Consultation with industry Direct liaison with employers over elective unit selection to determine which would be most relevant to the work roles that successful students could undertake; Discussion with specific industry bodies Review of draft Training and Assessment Strategies and samples of associated resources to validate them and to identify any changes required from an industry perspective. Recognition of Prior Learning and National Recognition of The recognition of prior learning procedure will be made known to students preenrolment. If a student can demonstrate competency and provide sufficient, current, valid and authentic evidence of work experience, life skills, study or via other evidence, then the Qualification Structure V1 CHC40212 Certificate IV in Home and Community Care Page 2 of 7
3 Qualifications learner will be deemed competent in that unit of competency. If a student has already been deemed competent by a Registered Training Organisation, in a unit through previous study, a credit transfer will be awarded for that unit. Location All face to face training will be delivered in the 3Bridges classroom or similar, suitably equipped venues. Work placements will be arranged by students with suitable host organisations or the student s employer if applicable, under formal agreements with 3Bridges. If necessary, 3Bridges will assist students to find an appropriate host employer that meets the requirements of the workplace component. One day practical component delivered off site at a venue with the required equipment. Duration and Structure The qualification has been clustered with each cluster delivered and assessed over a timetabled number of days as described in the table below. This will be arranged by the student with 3Bridges and your current employer or other appropriate employer over the duration of the course. 3Bridges can assist students find an appropriate host employer to fulfil the requirements of the workplace component. Learners will be given their Learner Resource Book and Workbook prior to each cluster commencing. The Learner Workbook includes all assessments for each cluster and must be completed and submitted for marking. 3Bridges will use a combination of assessment methods and approaches which will involve collecting a range of evidence for ensuring consistency of competency. Assessment will be conducted using approaches which allow for competency in all units within each topic to be demonstrated and which satisfy the critical aspects for assessment and evidence requirements. The assessment tasks have been mapped to the requirements of each unit as part of validation. Assessment methods include: Verbal question and answers Written question and answers Case study scenario assignments Role plays simulating workplace activities observed by the Assessor Use of sample workplace documentation Self-assessment Third party supervision of work place tasks Work place assessment by a qualified 3Bridges assessor Methods Assessment Approach and Methods Verbal/written questions Case study/role plays/simulated work activities Use of sample workplace documentation/portfolio Workplace assessment/journal Third party evidence Class activities Final Assessment Verbal/written question Written questions* Case Study/role plays/simulated work activities Qualification Structure V1 CHC40212 Certificate IV in Home and Community Care Page 4 of 7
5 Workplace assessment *NOTE: Some units of competency will only have three (3) final assessments.3bridges will use a combination of assessment methods and approaches which will involve collecting a range of evidence for ensuring consistency of competency. RESOURCES T & A Staff Facilities and equipment Direct teaching/tutorial/ support trainer with relevant vocational competencies and minimum TAE40110 Certificate IV Training and Assessment (or equivalent) 3Bridges will liaise with host organizations/ employers regarding the appointment of suitable Workplace Supervisors for observation and mentoring of students during work placements and provision of third party evidence. For the face to face training and assessment component 3Bridges uses classrooms of a size commensurate with class size, suitably equipped with audio visual equipment. These will either be at 3Bridges s premises or at a similarly equipped hired venue. The Work Placement component utilizes the facilities and equipment of host organizations/ employers under formal agreements with 3Bridges. 3Bridges ensures that these organizations have the required resources and equipment to allow students to learn and be assessed against the relevant elements and performance criteria of the units of competency. 6 Students will be provided with Learner Resource Books for each cluster as well as Learner Workbooks containing the associated assessment tasks. Both will be distributed before the cluster begins. The Learner Workbook contains all assessments and must be completed and submitted for marking. Supplementary resources will include PowerPoint and subject related texts. Trainer support materials including facilitator guides The context of and specific resources for assessment for units within this qualification may require: access to an actual workplace or simulated environment access to typical equipment and resources used in the workplace examples of workplace documentation Training and assessment materials To meet these requirements the following resources will be utilised: Simulated workplace in the classroom with use of associated resources Access to relevant legislation via internet Examples of workplace documentation such as policies and procedures and associated forms Work placement with a suitable organisation For the work placement component students will be provided with a Student Placement Journal to record activities carried out under the supervision of a workplace supervisor, mapped to the units of competency. All 3Bridges Trainers/ Assessors are provided with the following: Copy of training package qualifications and assessment guidelines for the qualification. Timetables and associated session plans identifying what will be taught, when it will occur and the resources to be used. Assessment resources including marking/ evidence guides to ensure consistency and reliability of assessment Qualification Structure V1 CHC40212 Certificate IV in Home and Community Care Page 6 of 7
7 Employability skills relating to the qualification will be assessed by evidence.
