All electives chosen must support the overall integrity of the AQF level of this qualification and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. 2 Name of RTO Advanced Training Institute Pty Ltd (ATI) RTO ID: Outcome The CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care comprises of fifteen (15) core and three (3) elective units of competency. Many Day Care Centres and Family Day Care providers are required to care for babies, and deal with parents from a broad range of culturally diverse backgrounds. While other elective selections are possible these will need to be negotiated with us before we can agree to deliver them. Any alternative unit selection will need to be approved by the CEO and will be suitably documented with alternative Training and Assessment Strategy depicting the alternative units. The outcome for this qualification is either the CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or, should the participant depart the course before it has been completed, a Statement of Attainment for the units in which competency has been demonstrated. Client(s) As stated above, the target group for CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care are typically existing Childcare workers, or new entrants seeking to become recognised childcare workers. They can be of either gender, but most are women; they can be of any background and nationality. Many will be working in the role of carer in a Day Care Centre or Family Day care and thus often will be looking after small children, sometimes one of the children in the Family Day Care will be the Childcare workers own. All participants in this course will be over the age of 18 and literate in both written and spoken English. Page 2 of 9

3 Name of RTO Advanced Training Institute Pty Ltd (ATI) RTO ID: Delivery and assessment arrangements Organisation The participant is required to achieve competency in all eighteen (18) units in order to achieve the CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care The participant will undergo: An introduction process explaining the units of competency and the training and assessment program. A review of the suggested units to be completed as initially listed here, any Unit of Competency changes will be incorporated once confirmed as compliant to the packaging rules, resourced appropriately and assessable by ATI. An amended training and assessment strategy will be developed to reflect any changes. An induction into ATI (as the RTO) A review and sign off of the training plan The format for delivery/assessment will be designed around a twelve (12) month delivery program involving a combination of theory sessions and practical workplace environment sessions to be conducted in ATI s classrooms and in the Participants own workplace. In the case of a participant with an identified language/literacy or other need, the method of assessments will be reasonably adjusted and pre-determined to best accommodate the participants so that they will be able to easily work their way through the training program. The program will be organised/formatted around a combination of approaches including: RPL/RCC; (if applied for) Classroom Theory Training, Practical Activities/ Skill Demonstrations; in both the classroom and in the participants own workplace This will provide for either the, issue of a relevant Statement of Attainment or, the issue of the qualification CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. This qualification is delivered in a formal classroom setting with simulated workplace environments as appropriate, and in the participants own workplace. Simulations will be where appropriate in class room and will be used to foster and develop understanding of the course content and material, attainment of these skills will be where appropriate demonstrated in the workplace. Practical skills (excluding First Aid) will be assessed during visits to the Family Day Care centre or other the Childcare venues (for instance should a participant be working in a Long Day Care Centre). Location Training and assessment is delivered in ATI s Classroom s and Simulated workplace facilities as well as in the participants place of work within Family Day Care and Long Day Care Child Care Centres. Equipment required for the Classrooms will consist of: Sufficient table and chairs for all participants (this is not expected to number more than twenty (20) participants per practical session) Whiteboard, OHP, data projector to deliver theory material, computer and audio-visual equipment. Business equipment, computer hardware and software programs, stationery and other material relevant to the theory and practical session being delivered. As well as any unit of competency specific material as defined in later sections of this document. Page 3 of 9

4 Name of RTO Advanced Training Institute Pty Ltd (ATI) RTO ID: Delivery and assessment arrangements (continued) Reasonable Adjustment Reasonable adjustment will be provided for participants with a disability or learning difficulty according to the nature of the disability or difficulty. Reasonable adjustments are made to ensure that the participant is not presented with artificial barriers to demonstrating achievement in the program of study. Language, literacy and numeracy advice Reading and writing - a learner will need to be able to read, interpret and write a range of texts within a variety of contexts. Oral communication - a learner will be able to use and respond to spoken language within a variety of contexts. Numeracy and mathematics - a learner will be able to recognise and use a variety of conventions and symbols of formal mathematics. Participants will provide an indication of their English Language proficiency through the enrolment process which incorporates the language literacy and numeracy test, participants who indicate either through volunteering issues about theory LLN abilities, if there is a concern on their LLN ability, they will be referred to another provider who offers courses in English language local to their home or to their workplace for formal English assistance. Our assistance will be limited to expanding vocabulary, explaining concepts and ensuring understanding, we are not English Language training expert. Prohibited Person. Participants will be made aware of the legal obligation ATI is under to ensure that we place only those participants that have successfully completed the Working With Children s Check. This will be processed and only once a satisfactory response is received will participants be allowed to commence their Work placement. Resources ATI has access to a range or resources available. Participants are provided with access to computers (including software programs), printers, facsimiles, internet facilities, and stationery resources and communications equipment. Further resources will be sourced if and when required by participants. ATI will provide a suitably equipped simulated workplace environment, classrooms and computer labs for training and assessment processes, as well as a range of additional resources that may be required. Schedule The training program is conducted over a period of one year, comprising one day per week during school terms. This is approximately 36 weeks up to 52 weeks. Training and assessment will be done in the ATI training centre and in the workplace. If required a Participant Host training agreement can be arranged. Any changes to this time requirements will be communicated to the staff and participants. Please see the delivery timetable below, but please note that theory sessions are intended to be delivered weekly with the delivery of theory assessments as required, practical assessment sessions are scheduled for weeks 9 to 12, weeks 20 to 23, and 33 to 36. Of the four weeks allowed for assessment, only two are required, the other two the participants will be on academic break, this is to allow the trainer/assessors to allow significant time for practical observation, effectively scheduling them over two weeks for half their participants, and the other two weeks for the other half of the participants. 9 Infrastructure Requirements Assessment and Validation process Pathways Program Manager s Endorsement All staff (including full-time, part-time and contract staff) involved in the delivery and assessment of this qualification, have direct access to the current version of the CHC Community Services Training Package, including the appropriate units of competency, assessment guidelines and qualification structure. All staff (including full-time, part-time and contract staff) involved in delivering the program have access to trainer, assessor and participant support materials relevant to their areas of delivery and assessment All assessors have access to print and electronic copies of the assessment tools used in this program ATI has access to staff and training/assessment resources to meet the requirements of participants with special needs and has an assessment process that incorporates reasonable adjustment procedures ATI has reviewed the equipment and facility requirements for each unit of competency in the qualification and guarantees it has access to a simulated workplace environment and equipment needed to implement the program The processes used to validate assessment activity in this program are: Through experienced small business managers, industry liaison and client survey on an ongoing basis to check that the performance standards required in the qualification are consistent with workplace management practices. Qualified and experienced trainer is involved in development of assessment tools. Assessment and RPL/RCC applications are reviewed by trainers and assessors at the end of each learning sequence. The CEO convenes regular meetings with staff involved in the delivery and assessment of Certificate III in Children s Services units of competency to review assessment tools and their outcome decisions. The CEO conducts moderation meetings attended by all qualification trainers and assessors to confirm that the evidence gathering techniques meet the Assessment Guidelines of the Training Package and that the assessment tools and decisions meet the requirements of validity, reliability, consistency, fairness, flexibility, and reasonable adjustment. The CEO documents the validation process for future reference. Information will also be provided to participants on further training options available to them to further enhance their skill set such as the CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or other related qualifications.
