1 TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Qualification Description This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. Achievement of this qualification or an equivalent by trainers and assessors is a requirement of the Australian Quality Training Framework Essential Standards for Registration (Standard 1 as outlined in Appendix 2 of the Users' Guide to the Essential Standards for Registration). This qualification, or the skill sets derived from units of competency within it, is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS There are no pre-requisites for students wishing to undertake this qualification OCCUPATIONAL NAMES/ EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES Job roles associated with this qualification relate to the delivery of training and assessment of competence within the VET sector. Possible job titles and roles relevant to this qualification include: Enterprise trainer Enterprise assessor Registered Training Organisation (RTO) trainer Training advisor or training needs specialist RTO Assessor Vocational education teacher CAREER PATHWAY A number of career pathways are available to you typically with further study, such as Learning and Development Manager, Training Manager, Human Resources Manager, Team Leader or Site/Department Manager. SKILLS RECOGNITION If you already have some training, work or life experience in management, team leader role or coordinator, you may be eligible to have your existing skills and knowledge recognised and apply for advanced standing for one or more units. Processes for recognition include: Credit transfer Mutual recognition Recognition by assessment

2 COURSE OUTCOMES Gain the skills that are required to: Use a range of skills in communication such as listening, questioning, reading, interpreting and writing documents Mentor, coach and tutor Develop and evaluate with others learning programs customised for individual or group needs Apply design skills to develop innovative and flexible cost-effective programs Research, read, analyse and interpret workplace specifications Examine personal perceptions and attitudes Interpret client needs and write to these as well as working with the client to develop personal or group learning programs. Be a role model for inclusiveness and demonstrate professionalism Use student information management systems to record assessments Use time-management skills in designing learning programs Interpret collected evidence and make judgments of competency Organise the human, physical and material resources required for learning and assessment Take personal responsibility in the planning, delivery and review of the training Seek feedback from colleagues and develop a culture of learning in the workplace Work with colleagues to compare, review and evaluate assessment processes and outcomes and actively taking part in validation sessions Use effective facilitation and interpersonal skills, including verbal and nonverbal language that is sensitive to the needs and differences of others. Be creative to meet clients training needs Identify hazards and assess risks in the learning environment as well as write hazard or incident reports and action plans Interpret the learning environment and select delivery approaches which motivate and engage learners Monitor and improve work practices to enhance inclusivity and learning Undertake self-evaluation and reflection practices Generate a range of options to meet client needs and calculate to costs of the program and logistics of delivery and access appropriate resources Identify and organise technology and equipment needs prior to training Use a range of software, including presentation packages Facilitate individual, group-based and workbased learning Work within policy and organisational frameworks Manage work and work relationships whilst adhering to ethical and legal responsibilities Research information and access policies and frameworks to maintain currency of skills and knowledge Manage work relationships and seek feedback from colleagues and clients on professional performance Use technology to enhance outcomes, including online delivery and research using the internet. Plan, prioritise and organise workflow COURSE STRUCTURE To complete this qualification, the student is required to complete 10 Units. This comprises 7 core units (as per the list below) and 3 elective units, of which at least 2 must be chosen from the elective list below. The remaining elective unit can be chosen from another qualification offered by Target Training at certificate III level or higher and must contribute to the outcome of the program.
