David started leading bands in the early 70s, working with everything from trios to 19-piece big bands. A big thank you to Wegmans for fully funding the 2016 year of concerts. Thank you! Check out some of our most loved online resources for kids to help with summer boredom! Scholastic BookFlix is an online literacy resource that pairs classic video storybooks from Weston Woods with related nonfiction ebooks from Scholastic to build a love of reading and learning. This engaging resource for children in grades PreK-3 will help early readers develop and practice essential reading skills and introduces students to a world of knowledge and exploration. Scholastic BookFlix is specifically created to support non-, beginning and reluctant readers it s the perfect resource for independent reading practice at the library and at home! TumbleBooks has books, videos, and more for kids of all ages, from toddler to teens. South Jersey ebook Center for Kids. Snapshots that Made History Friday, June 17, 2 PM In this lecture, New Jersey photojournalist Jim DelGiudice will look at photos that changed history by accident why a snapshot of Abe Lincoln s tousled hair, for example, helped gain him the presidency, but one of Gary Hart on a yacht lost the presidency for him. Along with each image, we ll examine the historical context and what it was that made the photographer say Gotcha!

4 4 KIDS Summer Reading Clubs Saturday, June 25 Sunday, August 28 Read all summer long and earn weekly prizes and entries for the grand prize drawings held on or after August 28. On your mark, Get set, Read! Summer Reading Club Independent readers up to grade 4. This club is for kids who can read independently and may include children in preschool up to 4 th grade. For every 5 books that are read, participants can choose a small prize, and will receive one entry into the grand prize drawing at the end of the summer. Participates can pick up a reading log at the library, or track their progress online. On your mark, Get set, Read! Summer Reading Club Infants, toddlers, and pre-readers. Children who are not yet reading on their own are welcome to join summer reading with the help of their families. Families work together to complete a game board of 12 early literacy activities to help develop the skills necessary for reading. This club is for infants, toddlers, and any other children who cannot read independently. Game boards are available at the library or online. Completed boards may be turned in for a small prize and one entry to the grand prize drawing at the end of the summer. Get in the Game: Read! Summer Reading Club Tweens and teens grades This club is for tweens and teens. Children in grades 5-12 with earn a prize just for signing up for summer reading. Plus, every book you read and review will earn one entry to the grand prize drawing at the end of the summer. Beginning on June 25, you can sign up for your club at the Summer Reading Desk or online at

5 KIDS Lego League Saturday, June 4 10:30AM Join us for this month's meeting of our LEGO League. Each month we gather together and build around a specific theme. Grades K-4. This group is not sponsored by the LEGO Group. Registration is required Paws for Reading: Wilson: Wednesday, June 8 Xorra: Monday, June 13 4PM, 4:15PM, 4:30PM, 4:45PM Practice your reading skills with a captive canine audience in a private setting with Wilson or Xorra, registered therapy dogs. Join us for an ART-rageous adventure as we explore striking colors, exciting techniques, and create masterpieces of our very own! No prior art experience necessary. Ages 6-10 years. Registration is required. Pajama Pals Thursdays, June 16 and 23 7:00PM Shake out the sillies and get ready for bed with friends! Join us for stories, songs, and fun in this special evening storytime. Teen Advisory Board Tuesday, June 7 6-7PM This is the chance for teens to have a say in the programming they would like to have at the library. Come out, have some pizza, and let your voice be heard. This month, we will continue planning for EONcon. Grades Anime Club Tuesday, June 21 5:30-7:30PM Hang out. Eat ramen. And most importantly, watch anime. If there is something you d like to watch, drop a suggestion in the box in the Teen section. Grades For The Win: Teen Game Night Tuesday, June 28 5:30-7:30PM Come out and play! Board games or video games, choose one of the library's or bring your own. No experience necessary, just your desire to get in the game and have a good time. Grades Teen Game Day Smash Brothers Tournament Saturday, June 11 1:00PM Blast your friends in the Smash Bros tournament, or just hang out for casual gaming. Feel free to bring your own games to play on the side between rounds. The format will be single game rounds, double elimination. You must register to compete in the tournament! Grades Tween Meet & Make Wednesday, June 29 6:30-7:30 A new craft or maker activity will be introduced each month and there will be time to plan future events as well. Bring your ideas! Grades 5-7. Please register. Summer Reading Volunteer Orientation Tuesday, June PM This is a mandatory orientation for teens who wish to volunteer at the Summer Reading desk. Parents are welcome to attend.
