As a Home Entrepreneur for the past 13 yrs, I was very successful in a Direct Sales company and won several National Awards and at the height of my career was making $4,200/week! People would come up to me all the time at my shows (I was in a Party Plan Business) and ask two things: 1) How did I get my sales? (My show AVERAGE was around $650/show) and 2) How did I get my bookings? (I usually booked 2-4 shows from each show) Some of you may have heard a Rumour! The Rumour is shhhhh. January is the slowest Month of the Year in any Home Based Business! Well, thankfully that s just a Rumour!!!! For the 9 yrs I was in the Direct Sales Company I bonused (didn t do just the minimum sales) Each and EVERY January!!!! I m going to share with you my top 7 Tips how to maximize your January sales NOW!!!! 2

3 Tip#1 Connect and Build Bridges with Customer Scene #1 So, it s near the end of the year! September, October, and November have been totally amazing. Sales have been through the roof, you are glad there is a lull so that you can finally slow down for your own Christmas Agenda. Then, a funny thing happens! It s January 5th and you have no shows left! No customers to talk to! Realizing, yikes, how did this happen? I better get on the phone and do some calls! So in a panic you start phoning a tonne of customers, hostesses, then you bug your best friends (again!) to please look at the new catalogue andask, Do you think you might wanna have a party???? Sound familiar? How does this sound instead? Scene #2 It s January 5 th and today I m calling my 6 hostesses that I already have booked, letting them know the new catalogue is in, it s amazing and I give them 3 great New ideas that they can tell their guests about to help get them to the shows! They are: 1) Fabulous Gifts for each guest in attendance 2) New products at the show 3) Shipping is on me (or whatever you want to offer) If you had been building Bridges behind you then Scene #2 is totally possible, if not, it s not too late! 3

6 Tip#2 Focus/Goal Setting Where are you at right now? I feel about my business! What is your income goal for 2009? Why did you start your business? What is your income goal for January? If you always do what you ve always done, you will always get what you ve always got! Dale Carnegie Someone had said to me recently, my business is just a hobby for me! And the people under me are just hobbiest! Really???? I always was of the opinion that people joined a business to Make $$$$! 6

7 Tip#3 Know Your Product/Promo What is your promo for January? For example a well known company is offering a Monday Madness! Every Monday in January the hostess is going to receive amazing gifts! With sales over $400 you get - extra gift With 10 or more orders extra gift, can purchase $125 of product for $35 Book on a Monday extra % in free product So for a $400 show, with 10 orders a hostess can receive $285 worth of products for $35 plus tax and shipping! YIPEE!! My Script: 7

8 Tip #4 Calendar Control Do you control your calendar or does your calendar control YOU??? If you haven t already purchased a pocket day/planner I would also get an office desk day/planner too! We ve already talked about our goals and broken them down, so if you ve decided that you need 6 shows per month or 2 etc. now is the time to take out your calendar! Pocket Day/Planner This is what you take to your shows! Fill in for the following: Nights/afternoons avail to do shows! Nights that you need to do training! (put some of your fun activities in here too!) January 2009 Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday

9 Office Desk Day/Planner This is for at home so family is aware of your schedule! Fill in the following: Nights you have booked! Training nights (whether they are at home, or when you need uninterrupted time) I also put on here daily activities: Mon (mail out hostess thank-you s) Tues (team call) Make sure these are Business activities Calendar Control Tips: 1) 2) 3) 9

10 Tip #5 30 Second Infomercial Whenever we meet a potential customer we should have something prepared that sounds natural and you!!! I now say I m a motivational speaker and women s advocate. I help women like myself earn a 6 digit income from home and learn their life s True Passion! then what are you passionate about? Power words that sound like you! My 30 intro 10

11 Tip #6 Calls Letting go of the 3,000 lb. Phone My little secret! I used to have a phone phobia! Ask! Ask! Ask! When we were younger we were taught it was impolite when you are at someone s house to ask for something to eat! Wait until it is offered! How many of us ever heard that? You need to re-condition that thinking! Have fun with this! Tips on phone fun: 1) 2) 3) The more you practice the better you will get! 11

13 Tip #7 The Fun Factor Do you really love what you do? Are you passionate about it? If you are having fun doing what you LOVE to do I can guarantee you one thing: You will make $$$$!!! Some people enjoy playing fun games at shows, others don t. Ask your hostess! Some consultants aren t that keen on playing games and think they are dumb, if you are one of those, then find one or two games that are more low key! Game ideas: 1) Guess the fragrance ( I played this in candle biz, took 10 tealights and had guests guess them.winner got to keep all ten!) 2) Roll the die game (use those big fluffy car ones) reward with tickets to receive prize! 3) 4) Closing: As a special bonus the first 25 people who purchased this product will be receiving a one-on-one training session with Jody. Next month promo: How would you feel if every time you walked out the door to a show you KNEW it was worth $250 in your pocket?
