9 9 After serving in the United States Navy from as a personnel specialist, serving in both Desert Storm and Desert Shield Jeff has spent the last 14 years in the electrical field. Installing, maintaining, and repairing various electrical and control systems. Over the past several years he has focused primarily on conducting arc flash analysis/surveys for military, commercial, and industrial clients. In doing so he has assisted clients in becoming compliant, and sustaining compliance with NFPA 70E and OSHA standards. Jeff Burt Currently he is the lead arc flash technician with Shawver & Son, Inc., a full service electrical contractor in Oklahoma City, Ok. After wandering the state the past few years it is great to come back to the new and improved Sequoyah State Park and Lodge. The sleeping rooms have been completely renovated with new plumbing and fixtures. The dinning area has been updated and the convention hall has new electric and lighting to show off your wares in a much better atmosphere. Not that two years ago was a bust but it did prove some challenges since we only had two weeks to change our venue do to the delays in renovations at Western Hills. Last year was an eye opener as well when we met at NCED in Norman. It was a great facility but very expensive. We are glad to be back with our friends at Sequoyah Lodge and the excellent meals and service they have provided us on all of our previous visits. We are sure you will agree this feels like home. This year the Conference theme is about being prepared for the changes (challenges?) that are headed our way from code updates and new dangers from unknown people to What Mother Earth will throw at us in the way of extremes and how to build for that contingency. There are many issues with funding or lack thereof that are getting many schools looking at the alternatives in HVAC and Lighting to reduce their costs of operations allowing for more money to be spent on the children in out districts and less on the utilities, always a good thing. Wednesday will be a Hole In One and a Whopper day as OSPMA is proud to host two scholarship fundraisers at the same time the Jim Shields Memorial Golf Tournament with sponsorship by DIXON GOLF and the OSPMA WHOPPER tournament at the dock by the lodge. Details for both are in the conference newsletter. Thursday will be a great day to checkout the vendors and the new items to make your life easier as a superintendent or plant manager by giving your staff what they need to succeed for you. There are break out sessions from many industry leading professionals Checkout their bios on pages 6-8 in the newsletter. The Conference and OSPMA would not be able to bring you this information or opportunities with out the help of our GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE Sponsors. To them we say a heartfelt THANK YOU!! Very Respectfully, Tracy DeLaughter, President OSPMA Tulsa Public Schools
