1 Austin and San Antonio Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers May 2013 Volume 8, Issue 5 Inside this issue: May Presentation 2 May Speakers 2 Where s Lunch?? 3 Upcoming Events 3 Chapter Information 4 Join Us! 5 Energy Index AUSTIN LEVEL I JULY 2013 Hello Everyone, Despite the cool and wet spring, it is late May, which means that the Texas Summer is upon us. ERCOT is predicting adequate, but tight supplies of power during the summer season this year. It might be prudent to try to do your part to conserve any way by researching the demand response programs for your electric supplier to see if your organization can sign up and get paid for conserving when asked (some programs are even voluntary in nature). ERCOT also has programs that are not voluntary but do have the potential to provide significant payments if their guidelines are followed and your load is Note From President bid in at the right price. As far as your home goes this summer, if you have multiple A/C units try setting the second floor unit above 80 degrees when you are at work or away and turn the main unit off until you get home. If you have only one unit set it above 80 degrees when at work or away and lower it when you get home. Running your air conditioning at 78 degrees when you are home will conserve and should keep you comfortable when the outside temperatures are 100 degrees. I want to thank everyone who made the trek to see our Webberville Solar Plant; we had a very good turnout of close to thirty people. Thanks to Adam Jilani for setting everything up for us! Please join us at Logan s (1141 IH35 North in San Marcos), for this month s presentation on Vanjen Group s Bio-Fuel System. Have a Great Month, Frank Frank Richards Chapter President

About midweek they decide to walk up and down the beach during their lunch hour. Halfway up the beach, they stumbled upon a lamp. As they rub the lamp a genie appears and says Normally I would grant you three wishes, but since there are three of you, I will grant you each one wish. The hardware engineer went first. I would like to spend the rest of my life living a huge house on St. Thomas with no money worries. The genie granted him his wish and sent him off to St. Thomas. The software engineer went next. I would like to spend the rest of my life living on a huge yacht cruising the Mediterranean with no money worries. The genie granted him his wish and sent him off to the Mediterranean. Last, but not least, it was the project manger s turn. And what would your wish be? asked the genie. I want them back after lunch replied the project manager. Newsletter Comments?
