1 Z-7 CITY OF GLENDALE INTERDEPARTMENTAL COMMUNICATION DATE: February 25, 2009 TO: FROM: Members of the Civil Service Commission Matt Doyle, Director of Human Resources Rosie Akopyan, Human Resources Analyst SUBJECT: REPORT ON ADVERTISING EXPENDITURES BACKGROUND Attached for your information is a report from Human Resources on the quarterly advertising expenditures and outreach efforts for recruitment. The Commission requested to have this information presented on a periodic basis. The attached report accounts the historical detail of expenditures in the period extending from October 1, 2008 to December 31, The next report will provide information for the time period of January 1, 2009 through March 31, The Human Resources allocated budget for advertising in this fiscal year is $61,000. The expenditures of the second quarter of FY have totaled $7, Additionally, a report is attached for the Commission's review indicating the recruitment sources captured in our applicant tracking system for the period of July 1, 2008 through December 31, Staff is participating in a number of additional outreach and recruitment efforts, which are detailed below: ~ The GTV6 staff has been contacted to begin producing a short Public Service Announcement (PSA) to promote recruitment and outreach for women to join public safety services. ~ A short recruitment video project is being produced to target the local Korean community for careers with the Glendale Police Department. ~ The Google AdWords advertisement statistics are provided as part of our internet advertisement campaign.
