3 CAPS Wellness Peer Educators: Background and Service Model
4 Undergraduate and graduate student peer educators who go out into the University community to educate fellow UCSD students about mental health and wellness, and work to reduce the stigma of seeking mental help through outreach and educational workshops.

6 Started as four Peer Education Programs out of UCSD Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) LGBT, SAFE, Relationship, and Women s In 2002, I joined staff. In 2004, created Wellness Peer Education Program Currently, one CAPS Wellness Peer Education Program providing outreach to UCSD campus community Future directions: Combining into one Wellness Cluster Peer Education Program
7 Peer Education Training and Leadership Development Peer Education Programming and Outreach
8 Fall quarter weekly training. Topics include: Mood Disorders, Suicide Awareness & Prevention Stress/Time Management, Relaxation, Mindfulness Healthy Sleeping, Biofeedback Healthy Relationships, Financial Wellness Peer Educators work collaboratively with professional staff to create programs Receive supervision for every program provided Mentorship relationships with professional staff Prepares students for careers in the helping/ human services fields

10 Provides Tabling at Library Walk for a variety of events and to raise awareness of CAPS Services Provides peer education workshops for campus and community Provides one large event each quarter to reach a hundreds of students in a few hours Peer Educators co-facilitate therapy groups and structured workshops with professional staff through CAPS
11 Workshops requested throughout the year by: Resident Advisors Student Leadership Groups Fraternities and Sororities The Zone And More Workshops provided both by peer educators alone, and by peers and professional staff
