5 DELIVERING National Trust: improving communication among volunteers Challenge: The National Trust needed to improve the way it communicated with the 61,000 volunteers that keep its historic houses, gardens and monuments well maintained and open to the public. Solution: The organisation worked with Computacenter to implement the My Volunteering portal, which provides central access to news and acts as a central database for volunteer information. Results: The portal has improved the volunteering experience and helps people feel more involved. Harrods: engaging with a diverse workforce Challenge: Harrods wanted to enhance the way it engaged with its diverse workforce, which includes more than 8,000 full-time and part-time employees; associates hired by hosted brands; and a team of contractors that are recruited for peak periods. Solution: Computacenter helped Harrods develop a bespoke intranet that reflects the brand s identity. The project also involved implementing PCI regulations, Forms Based Authentication (FBA) and Active Directory.
