I look forward to learning more about your child each day because I care deeply about each of my students. During the first few weeks of the semester, I will introduce and reinforce my classroom procedures and expectations. I have also attached this information for your reference. This is accomplished by providing interest-based programs that meet industry standards. Course Description: Using web design as the platform for product design and presentation, students will create and learn digital media applications using elements of text, graphics, animation, sound, video and digital imaging for various format. The digital media and interactive media projects developed and published showcase the student skills and ability. Emphasis will be placed on effective use of tools for interactive multimedia production including storyboarding, visual development, project management, digital citizenship, and web processes. Students will create and design web sites that incorporate digital media elements to enhance content of web site. Georgia Performance Standards: Course Standards IT-DD 1 IT-DD - 2 Demonstrate employability skills required by business and industry. Research, explain, and summarize current state of the web, functions of the web, and future trends emerging of the web. IT-DD-6 IT-DD-7 Identify and develop model digital products that reveal a professional layout and look by applying design principles to produce professional quality digital products. Create and edit images and graphics. IT-DD-3 Identify logistical, ethical, and legal Issues related to digital media and apply concepts to use of text, graphics, animation, sound, video, and digital images in digital products. IT-DD-8 IT-DD-9 Plan, produce, edit, and publish digital audio. Plan, edit, produce, and post a multimediarich video project. IT-DD-4 IT-DD-5 Develop a plan to create, design, and market a web site with digital content to a specific target market. Explore and write using the various writing styles used on web sites and in digital content to get the intended message across. IT-DD-10 IT-DD-11 Plan, produce, edit, and publish animations. Explore how related student organizations are integral parts of career and technology education courses through leadership development, school and community service projects, entrepreneurship development, and competitive events. Any student user not complying with the Bibb County School System Internet Acceptable Use Agreement shall lose Internet privileges for a period of not less than one week. FBLA: Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a co-curricular national student organization designed to offer students the opportunity to participate in leadership activities both in and out of the classroom. Members have the

5 opportunity to go on field trips, participate in competitive events, perform community service, interact with the business community, and attend state and national conferences. FBLA is a required component of this class. FBLA dues are mandatory for all students enrolled in this class at the cost of $15. Occasional homework assignments will be necessary to ensure you are prepared for classroom discussions. You are responsible for maintaining the pace of the class. I will more than happy to help you if you are falling behind including staying after school. Please do not feel embarrassed to ask for help. Make-up Policy: It is the responsibility of the student to retrieve make-up assignments for absences from the teacher. An ABSENCE is any time that you are not physically present in class. This includes, but is not limited to, field trips, suspension, tardy, etc. Students have five (5) school days to make up missed work. After-school work can be done via appointment. Re-do Policy: Students are encouraged to re-do substandard (below 70) work. I will work with you to help you pass this course. YOU must be a partner with this and be willing to put in 100% effort. PBIS Behavior Management System Student behavior will be managed using the positive reinforcements developed in accordance with the school PBIS team. The PRIDE Matrix has been developed to help alleviate behavior in all areas of the school including classroom, hallway, and lunchroom. Perform and Achieve (Graduate on time, apply effective in the classroom, use data and feedback to strategize, stay on your strong side and control your weak side ) Respect Self and Others (Follow directions immediately, use appropriate and courteous language, keep hands, feet, and objects to self) Inspire Others by Leading (Arrive to class early, encourage good behavior, report problems) Do What is Responsible (Set learning goals, adhere to policies and procedures, be in your seat when the tardy bell rings) Engage Positively with the Environment (Be prepared for all classes, cooperate with teachers and peers, tidy the classroom)

6 Classroom Rules and Procedures All rules included in the Bibb County Code of Conduct Book and Southwest Magnet High School & Law Academy Student Handbook will be enforced.** Additionally, students will abide by the expectations of the classroom. These rules include: - Students will respect the teacher, their fellow students, and their environment. - All students are expected to arrive to class promptly and prepared. As soon as the last bell rings, students are expected to be in their seats, otherwise a student is considered tardy. - It is the student s responsibility to bring all required materials to class every day. - Cheating will not be tolerated! - NO gum, candy, food, or drinks are allowed in this classroom. - Absolutely no use of vulgar, profane, or inappropriate language in the classroom - Students are not to groom in class, this includes hair, make-up, nails, etc - Cellular phones should be left in lockers per school policy. CD players, MP3 players, hand-held games, and other personal electronic devices are not allowed in class at any time. Devices will be confiscated and given to Administration. Cards or dice are prohibited and will be confiscated and destroyed. - When using the computer lab, NO student is to use the computer for activities that do not relate to this class. When allowed to use the Internet, visiting websites that are not appropriate for school or not educationally related is prohibited. Violators will face consequences as outlined in the student handbook. - Students may talk quietly during designated time-frames. Under no circumstances should students talk while the teacher is instructing. - Students will sit in their assigned seat (if applicable) each day. The teacher reserves the right to redesign the classroom seating chart at any time. - Students may not leave the class during the first 10 minutes nor the last 10 minutes of class. - Students will not misuse the computers in class in any fashion (Facebook, hacking, games, etc.). - Students should come to class prepared with notebook paper, and writing utensil every day. Positive reinforcement: Praise, , Phone Calls, Good News Cards, Incentives, Awards, and/or etc. are issued to the student as means of positive reinforcement. Consequences for not adhering to classroom rules, procedures, and expectations: If the student chooses NOT to follow the classroom rules, procedures, and expectations, a ZERO will be given for any assignments missed and the following steps will be taken (depending on the severity of the infraction): 1st offense Verbal warning 2nd offense Teacher & student discussion; parent notification: 3rd offense Administrative referral Severe clause Immediately referred to Administrator * This course does not have an End of Course Test (EOCT). ** All rules included in the Bibb County Code of Conduct book and Southwest Magnet High School & Law Academy Student Handbook will be enforced.
