ICC Sydney - Australia s premier convention, exhibition and events venue - and reinvigorated public spaces and connections at Darling Harbour are being delivered by Darling Harbour Live, comprising Lend Lease, Hostplus, Capella Capital, AEG Ogden and Spotless. 2 THE NEW FACE OF SYDNEY Sydney is one of the world s most spectacular cities. This global city with a glorious climate and stunning harbour setting is undergoing its most exciting evolution in a generation. Over $14billion is being invested in the city s western harbour with the new International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) at its very heart. Sydney s western harbour is being transformed into one of the most distinctive and dynamic new waterfront, business and leisure districts in the world. The heart of this transformation is at Darling Harbour, home to the new world class convention, exhibition and entertainment venue (ICC Sydney), a luxury 5 star hotel, and a vibrant commercial and residential urban village called Darling Square. Opening in December 2016, ICC Sydney will be Asia Pacific s premier integrated convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct, underlining Sydney s place as one of the world s most desirable meeting and event destinations and providing the ideal platform to collaborate and innovate. New pedestrian and light rail connections will link Darling Harbour and ICC Sydney to the Sydney CBD, the financial services hub at Barangaroo in the north and the creative media and IT hub in the south. Great cities are constantly evolving and the NSW Government s visionary transformation is reenergising Sydney and its place on the world stage. The exciting transformation at Darling Harbour is being delivered by the NSW Government in partnership with Darling Harbour Live (comprising Lend Lease, HOSTPLUS, Capella Capital, AEG Ogden and Spotless) and Lend Lease. Infrastructure NSW is the NSW Government agency managing the 20 hectare transformation. Darling Harbour and the new convention, exhibition and entertainment venues will remain in public ownership through Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority. A dynamic calendar of events and entertainment during the redevelopment will keep the precinct active and vibrant. ICC Sydney 2 3

6 CONNECTED EXHIBITIONS Australia s largest exhibition venue offers an impressive 35,000sqm of space. Along with 2,400sqm of multipurpose event space in the convention area, ICC Sydney delivers 35,000sqm of exhibition space within an open and connected architectural design. The exhibition halls are accessed and joined by a multi-level pre-function/circulation zone with meeting rooms and hospitality suites. On the outside, there is even more to experience. The 5,000sqm rooftop event deck offers magnificent views of the city skyline and harbour. Guests can also enjoy the landscaped terraced gardens and seating areas on the building s western façade, right on the edge of Tumbalong Park and the Boulevard. 7 DYNAMIC THEATRE An ultramodern entertainment theatre marks the southern entry point to Sydney s exciting entertainment precinct. Unlike traditional theatres, this dynamic building is colourful and transparent, and as exciting as the performances on stage inside. 8 VIBRANT AND CONNECTED The centre of a new world class entertainment precinct and the centrepiece of Sydney s vision for the future it s all happening at Darling Harbour. The gleaming new ICC Sydney will be the heart of this emerging and vibrant precinct. It s flanked by the brand new ICC Sydney Hotel and Darling Square, a new city neighbourhood to the south and the waters of Cockle Bay to the north. Connected to and through the city by a bustling boulevard, centred around the expanded green space of Tumbalong Park and glittering harbour at Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour is a place for locals and visitors, of all ages, to enjoy day and night. Darling Harbour is only a short walk from local attractions such as Chinatown, Central Station and UTS with its iconic new Frank Gehry building. It s also just one minute walk to Sydney s light rail network and bus connections; seven minutes to Central Station and Town Hall; and 10 minutes to the new financial services hub at Barangaroo. The Boulevard, approximately 20 metres wide, runs directly through all of this, connecting the harbour to Central. It creates a new space to showcase the best Sydney has to offer, and links to the new east-west connections of Tumbalong Place and Harbourside Place. Darling Harbour is the only place to experience the excitement of a red-carpet event, the bustle of a top ticket industry conference. 9 SUSTAINABLE SPACES Darling Harbour Live is creating a socially responsible and environmentally sensitive convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct. TARGETING LEED GOLD green building certification TARGET TARGET 90 % AUSTRALIA S FIRST COMMUNITY FUNDED PV ARRAY OVER 14 % 15 % 3000 sqm reduction in potable water demand recycling construction waste reduction in greenhouse gas emissions The project is registered to the internationally recognised LEED green building certification program (LEED = Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and is set to achieve a Gold Certification. During demolition and construction, there is a target to achieve 90% material diversion of waste to landfill. Once built, ICC Sydney is expected to operate with optimal resource efficiency because of smart, design strategies integrated with cost efficient and renewable technologies. ICC Sydney will also be home to Australia s first community funded PV array in a CBD, generating 545MWhr of power per year. The public spaces at Darling Harbour are very important to the experience that the precinct offers. A renewed and upgraded public domain will also see a reconfiguration of Tumbalong Park, providing an additional 3,000sqm of green space as well as a new adaptable event space capable of hosting up to 27,000 people. SYDNEY S NEW BOULEVARD 680m long and 20 m wide from the harbour to Quay Street more public space at Tumbalong Park New east-west pedestrian connections, Harbourside Place and Tumbalong Place A new pedestrian boulevard will connect the harbourfront to the south and Sydney s central rail station. New and improved access links will better connect the student precinct of the University of Technology Sydney in Ultimo and the media and arts hub of neighbouring Prymont as well as the city centre

10 DELIVERING MORE FOR SYDNEY Attending association, corporate and private events in Sydney will never be the same again. ICC Sydney guests will experience sweeping views from an external event deck, a spectacular new ballroom and a red carpet entertainment complex. Darling Harbour Live and the NSW Government are creating the world class ICC Sydney and associated public spaces and pedestrian connections. The precinct includes: A design by an internationally recognised design team with strong and demonstrable experience in designing and delivering large scale public buildings; Recognition of the iconic nature of the built form through the design of three core facilities that represent the surrounding environment and their uses, particularly focussed on the vibrancy of entertaining, the strata of the landscape and the reflectivity of the harbour; Connected and activated larger facilities including more exhibition spaces, increased plenary capacities, more meeting room and greater flexibility in the way these spaces are used. This provides opportunity for multiple event uses; and High level of technology provisions including audio visual, Wi-Fi, digital screens/signage and opportunities for interactive smart phone connectivity. 12 TRANSFORMATION UNDERWAY AT DARLING HARBOUR International property and infrastructure group Lend Lease, a member of Darling Harbour Live, is designing and building the new world class ICC Sydney as well as more public spaces and pedestrian connections. OVER 1 million labour hours 2,580 workers inducted on site SAFETY IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY - DEC 2013 DEC 2014 ZERO CRITICAL SAFETY INCIDENTS December 2013 June 2014 Demolition Over 16,000 tonnes of steel was demolished and removed from the site 110,000 tonnes of concrete was demolished and removed from the site Met target of 90% of materials recycled May 2014 September Piling: 1500 piles, up to 25 metres deep and 1200mm diameter were created September 2014 ongoing - Concrete structural works: Seven tower cranes have been operating across the site on concrete structural works (which will continue into 2015) The largest crane onsite is a Favco M2480D, which can lift 20 tons at 90 metres. It sits 50 metres high and the boom length is 93 metres. This crane is the height of a 16-storey building.
