4 Learning purpose Guide By the end of this study guide you will be able to introduce yourself, talk about your company, and solve basic problems taking place in your job. All these issues will be studied by applying different strategies and skills in the communicative competencies -reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Activity 1 - Vocabulary and Grammar Get familiar with business vocabulary and basic grammatical structures. Activity 2 - Reading and listening Become acquainted with international marketing-related vocabulary and expressions by developing reading and listening activities. Activity 3 - Speaking and Writing Discuss about current work conditions. Write s comprising paragraphs with proper structures. Activity 4 - Final project (Stage 1) Identify the strategies companies use to work across cultures by taking into account communication styles, the ways of doing business internationally, and team working matters. Send these exercises in the Word file corresponding to Study Guide 1. DO NOT take photos of the pages and paste them on the Word file; you have to type these exercises (including the instructions) Develop exercises A to E on page 24 of your Market Leader book. 1.2 Listening Go over Learning Object 2 to get familiar with common structures of the simple present tense and then be able to talk about a common business daily routine. Now you can try a similar dialogue with a classmate Open your Market Leader book on page 8 and develop exercises A to B on listening Go to page 18 of your Market Leader book and develop exercises A to E on listening Develop exercises A to C on page 23 of your Market Leader book Check your answers by reading the audio scripts on pages 158, 159 and Open this video and answer the questions as follows in the Word file to be delivered: Página 7 de 10

Activity Speaking and writing Meet a classmate online and go over case study 1 on page 13 of your Market Leader book. Then develop tasks 1, 2 and Develop exercise C on page 17 of your Market Leader book Open your Market Leader book on page 21 and read case study 2. Meet a classmate and record the interview between a member of the Human Resource Department and an employee (tasks 1 and 2). Use or to record the interview, and then paste the link on the Word file to be delivered indicating the names of both team members After recording your interview, send the link to another group Go over Learning Object 3 and get familiar with the way of writing a good paragraph. 9 3.1.6 Based on the recording you have received, develop the writing activity on page 21: Write a formal (not exceeding one page long) to Human Resources and report what the employee (of the recording you have received) has expressed during the interview. Take into account: What he/she likes about his/her job?. What he/she does not like about his/her job?. What he/she wants to change in the company? Include this writing activity in your Word file to be delivered. Please do not paste texts as images (type them). Recommendation: all the instructions to write a formal are on page 126 of your Market Leader book. Means of sending assignment Word file: link comprising the interview properly recorded, and the formal . Virtual portfolio: all the exercises properly corrected. Activity Final project (Stage 1) Work in groups of 3 or 4 people Choose one of the options as follows: Option 1: choose a Colombian company exporting any product to the United States or Canada. Option 2: choose an international company (English speaking country) which had introduced a product or a service to Colombia After having chosen the company, send an to your tutor and classmates telling them the name of the company you will be working in. Recommendation: use any collaborative and interactive tool to present this information (time lines, prezi, graphs, inphographics, etc.) Create a blog, include the information above in such blog, and paste the link of your blog in the Word file In the face to face session, you and your group will deliver a minute formal oral presentation. Although you will be allowed to use support material for this presentation (your blog), you will not be allowed to read all the information.
