También aprenderá estructuras más complejas y un vocabulario más extenso para ser capaz de manejar de mejor manera temas más abstractos. 3. GENERAL OBJECTIVE The student will master all four language skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) and use of language at an intermediate level. 4. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES 4.1. LISTENING/ SPEAKING The students will be able to: a) Follow clearly articulated speech b) Understand short narratives c) Express and respond to feelings d) Agree and disagree politely e) Express beliefs and opinions on familiar topics f) Use a prepared questionnaire g) Give and respond to advice h) Make recommendations i) Exchange opinions 4.2. READING Students will be able to: a) Identify the main points in newspaper articles b) Distinguish facts from opinions c) Understand descriptions of events, feelings and wishes d) Identify the main conclusions. e) Infer meaning from context. 1

3 Av. 12 de Octubre 76 y Roca 6. METHODOLOGY The course takes into account a learner-centered methodology which highlights intercultural aspects. Students are motivated through a variety of activities which enable them the discovery of the structure or meaning in the target language. These activities include oral and written texts that allow students to build up their own learning to successfully interact in English. The four skills of language plus structures are developed after the students previous knowledge has been practiced. All this in a given context which deals with aspects of interest for the students such as work, studies, and daily life. 7. Grades are distributed as follows: Classwork 1: Homework, quizzes Midterm written exam 5 Midterm oral exam 5 Classwork 2: Homework, quizzes Final written exam Final oral exam TOTAL 50 points Important note: If a student misses a quiz which forms part of the grade for class work or misses to hand in a piece of homework, then it is up to the teacher to allow the student to take the quiz afterwards or accept the homework. The grade for class work has to be handed in 3 days before the final exam. 4

If a student has ELEVEN to TWENTY absences, s/he has to get 40 over 50 points to pass the course. 8.
