2 Unit 1: Daily life. Breaking routines. Description In the picture number 4, we can see a boy standing still in front of a stairs. He is holding a green book in his hands, he looks a bit worried, maybe he is only lost in his thought. It is possible that he has just finished an exam and he is thinking about the answers that he gave. Now, he probably will go home to leave the school s books and the red backpack that he is carrying in his back. If he doesn't have any homework, he can get out and go with his friends, but if he had some homework to do, he would had to finish it before he can go out to play or talk with his friends. After that he will have a nice family dinner where all the family will talk about how the day has gone. Interview a well known Musician: Hans Zimmer First I want to thank you for taking this time to answer the questions that our users have sent to our website. My pleasure, I love to have the opportunity to answer my fans. First question, a really easy one, Where were you born? I was born in Fráncfort, Germany on twelve of September of 1957 How was your childhood? And your youth? It was a good one! I had lots of friends. In my youth is when I discovered my love for music. 4 Unit 2: Past events Can you describe how the lifestyle of a famous composer is? Well it is something busy (laughs), you know, you have to be really focused in what you are doing, and often you are so close to your dead lines that it doesn't left you too much spare time. I suppose that if I didn't love what I was doing, I would have stopped doing it long time ago. Can you tell us what kind of music you usually listen to relax and disconnect? Well, when I want to disconnect I don't listen music, I get out and walk for a while. But for relaxing my self actually I often listen music from Mike Oldfield, you know, the composer of the Exorcist (laughs). Have you ever thought about playing your music in concert? I don't think the kind of music I have composed will work very good out of the movies. Can you tell us what the most interesting aspect of your job is? I'm not sure if it is the most interesting, but for me one of the best is the creativity side of the composition. When you have to face the blank pages and how, with time, those pages get filled with the notes and symbols. Recently you have started to collaborate with videogames companies. Can you talk us about it? It is pretty interesting! You know, when someone comes to you and offers the job it sounds a bit silly. A composition for a game? Made by a film composer? Sounds more or less a marketing trick. And actually, is it a marketing trick? No, it is not. You have to dedicate the same time, and sometimes more, than a film project. We are talking about projects over fifty millions dollars, they don't want half jobs. Can you tell us some anecdotes about it? I think I can tell you one without being sued (laughs). The first time that one of my customers gave me a sequence where I have to put the music in, the sequence wasn't yet finished and some elements (actually, lots of them, laughs) were color blocks. When I saw that, the first thing that went through my mind was: What am I suppose to do? The next Tetris tune? I suppose it would have been the most epic Tetris tune ever! Absolutely (laughs) Ok, We are going to finish this interview with one question about your relationship with your fans. What do you think? Is it good, is it bad...? Oh, I think it is very good. At least I think so, when they talk to me in a film premier they often tell to me that my music saved the film (laughs). Now seriously, I'm very grateful to my fans, because without them I would be nothing. So thanks to all of you. Text about my next Holidays This year I want a diferent holidays, so I'm going to try something that I've never done before. I'm going to visit the Glacier National Park in Montana (US). I'm going to fly with United on June the first, it is going to be a really long fly, because it will take off at eleven A.M, and the landing is due to twenty hours later! There is a refueling stop in Denver, I don't know how long I will be in Denver Airport. Some of the plans that I have for this trip are the next ones: I'm going to visit the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park. Looking at the comments from people that have previously visited, it seems a beautiful place, a bit expensive and you have to be careful with the bears but I think it will worth it. I visit Avalanche Lake, it seems that is not as peaceful as Waterton, since is one of the most popular trails on the west side of National Park. But after a little hike (not very hard, 2,3 miles) I will reach the lake, and by the photos I'm seeing it looks really impressive. On the other side of the trip, I would like to pass a night in the Moss Mountain Inn. It seems a lovely place and they have a really good breakfast. But I think it will be very expensive so, in the end, I suppose that I will have to choose another place to stay, maybe the Old Hotel, I don't know. Well, I still have time to check this. Maybe, if I had time I would visit the Virginia falls. It looks a good place to make some gorgeous photos. And then, on June 8 th, I will have my fly back to Madrid... with a duration of more than seventeen hours! This time with two refueling stops, one in Chicago and the other in the Newark Liberty airport in New York. Anyway, I think this year I'm going to have some really interesting holidays!
