1 JOB DESCPTON Job Title: Public elations and Marketing Officer Date: June 2015 Department: Line Manager: Grade/Pay Scale Location: Status: Development Head of Development 22,440 pro rata The Haven Wolverhampton Permanent, 22.5 hours per week (3 days) Job Purpose To lead and maintain The Haven s Public elations Strategy To develop and implement The Haven s Communication and Public elations Plan. To be the main contact for any external Public elations, Marketing and Communications for The Haven Wolverhampton To manage social media and support updates on the Haven website Manage design and distribution and circulation of Haven leaflets, posters and other marketing materials to ensure they are accessible to women, children and other agencies. Scope of Job main tasks, duties and responsibilities To write, edit and distribute press releases and articles. To maintain and update information on the organisation s website and other social media. To use corporate advertising to maintain the organisation s identity, name and reputation on press releases. To be the first point of call when responding to queries from external media. Where appropriate, and as directed, to present The Haven in public at talks, presentations, meetings, seminars and conferences, including staff and volunteer inductions. To be responsible for the co-ordination of events from start through to completion. The post holder will be required to arrange at minimum quarterly events for promoting Haven services to targeted stakeholders across the city and regionally. 1 -

2 Events can also include: exhibitions and fairs, conferences, promotions and launches, fundraising and international seminars. To develop and maintain good working relations with the media, including local and national newspapers, magazines, radio and television and to respond to enquiries from news agencies for interviews, statements, press releases or marketing materials. s required, to work with and support Haven staff on service specific events e.g. launch of a particular service or piece of research, fundraising events To work closely with Haven service staff to update leaflets and information packs on Haven Services To research and develop creative marketing techniques to stretch reach with service users e.g. elderly, women with disability, to help promote engagement with services To help design annual report and write up of annual accounts To ensure a distribution contacts are kept up to date; distribute Haven literature to organisations and stakeholders and review regularly the distribution contact list. Ensure sufficient and up to date materials are distributed to agencies and they have sufficient supply. To evaluate and gain feedback on campaigns/advertisements on a regular basis and ensure effective use of budgets. To ensure the security and confidentiality of service users in Haven publicity material. To develop and comply with copyright procedures in relation to Haven publicity materials. To update, develop and comply with Haven Public elations and Marketing procedures in relation to design, distribution, events, website and advertising. To manage volunteers on publicity related tasks. To maintain the general upkeep of Haven display boards and publicity materials. To attend meetings as appropriate as requested by the line manager. To manage and be the main point of contact for The Haven s general account. General duties and responsibilities To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as maybe reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job. To have personal responsibility for maintaining personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job and The Haven, by undertaking appropriate training and development activities. This includes encouraging and supporting staff and managers in their training and development. To undertake any health and safety training and related activities such as First id, Fire Marshall, Duty Hold, Health & Safety representative etc. as required for the post and as required by The Haven Wolverhampton to ensure their Health & Safety Policy is implemented effectively. To support hostel staff in ensuring the well-being of residents and their children working directly with our client group, including working within the hostels if required using the skills associated with the job. The duties of the post may change and develop from time to time in the light of new legislation, The Haven s Policies, organisational development and social trends. Such development will be monitored in conjunction with the Chief Executive and will be reflected as necessary in the aims and objectives of the post. Experience of evaluating usefulness of P and marketing tools and implementing new ideas and developments. Experience of writing articles and press releases. Experience of establishing and maintaining community links and networking with key partners and service providers. Experience of public speaking as well as developing and delivering presentations. Experience of developing publicity materials. Experience of working with a media environment. Experience of organising a variety of events. Experience of producing and implementing P strategies and procedures. Demonstrate and understanding of and commitment to implementing the principles of equality of opportunity, anti-discrimination practices and antioppressive practices and working within these principles. Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of Health and Safety issues related to this post.
