SATURDAY MUSIC SCHOOL 2015-2016 Music tuition for children and adults on Saturdays at Wimbledon College Saturday Music School The Saturday Music School at Wimbledon College offers music tuition to adults and children of all ages. Lessons are currently offered in Piano, Group keyboard, Violin, Music Theory, Saxophone, Guitar, Drums and Voice. Where there is sufficient demand, tuition can be arranged in other instruments. The Saturday Music School also offers a Young Musicians Programme for 3 5 year olds and a Jazz Workshop for pupils age 10 and above who are at approx. grade 1 level in their chosen instrument.

Most lessons are for 30-minutes. Individual Tuition Individual tuition is available in the following instruments: Piano Drums Saxophone Violin Guitar Music Theory Voice keyboard Cost 190 per 10 week term. (NB- due to number of weeks changes above -- 209.00 for 11 week term or 171 for 9 week term= 19 per half hour)
Group Tuition Some children prefer to be taught in small groups. Group lessons should be considered as an introduction to the instrument. For individual progression it is expected that children would eventually move on to shared or individual lessons. Group tuition is currently available in Keyboard for 30-minutes lessons. Various times available for group keyboard please contact SMS co-ordinator for details Cost 85 per term (Ten 30-minute group lessons = 8.50 per half hour) Shared Lesson 2 pupils sharing a half hour lesson Cost 102.50 per pupil per term (Ten 30-minute lessons = 10.25 per half hour per pupil) Young Musicians Programme The Young Musicians Programme is a practical, music making session for children of 3-5 years of age. It is ideal preparation for learning an instrument individually or just to have fun. The programme focuses on singing, developing a clear sense of rhythm and playing simple patterns on a range of instruments. Cost 195 per term (Ten 1 hour group lessons = 19.50 per hour ) Drumming Masterclass/Workshop These are optional and varied - designed to inspire students in the art of drumming, and take place during some half-term weekends- dates tba. A valuable experience for anyone interested in drumming. Cost 15.00 for a 90 minute session.
End-of-Term Concert At the end of the Autumn Term -- as a Christmas celebration - those children who wish to participate are invited to perform in an informal concert for their parents and families. The concert will take place on the Wimbledon College stage and give children an opportunity to experience the focus and exhilaration of public performance in a supportive setting. Terms and Conditions Music Tutors Saturday Music School (SMS) tutors are self-employed. Wimbledon College provides the administration and venue for the Saturday Music School. It also ensures child protection checks have been properly carried out. Payment The full course of 10 lessons is payable in advance. If a student is unable to attend a lesson, it still has to be paid for as we are unable to fill single slots for the teachers. Please keep the SMS Co-Ordinator informed if your child is likely to miss a lesson. NB- a half term notice is expected for termination of lessons. Missed lessons by teachers Because many of the tutors are professional musicians with performance commitments, they may occasionally have to cancel a lesson. If this happens, a replacement lesson will be arranged usually during a half term week - or the lesson cost will be refunded. Information regarding replacement lessons etc will always be kept up to date on the website. You are welcome to stay with your child, wait in the Music School foyer, or collect them later. Toilets are available. Contact Enquiries and applications should be addressed to the Saturday Music School Co- Ordinator. The Co-Ordinator is not available full-time during the week and will usually conduct Saturday Music School business on Saturday mornings.
