Nick Carpenter Director of Music Choral Evensong is held in Chichester Cathedral on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays & Saturdays at 5:30pm and on Sundays at 3:30pm. September 2015 Mon 14 th September 2015 Our Music Programme Commences The start of our busy music schedule in Week 2 to give pupils a chance to settle into a new academic year. Week Beginning Mon 28 th September 2015 Parents to Music Lessons Week Parents are invited to see what happens in their child s instrumental lesson. October 2015 Thurs 8 th October 2015 Senior Strings to Lancing College String Day A day of intensive rehearsals for our senior string players at Lancing College, with pupils from many other schools. Fri 9 th October 2015 House Singing Competition The yearly competition of group and solo singing. This time the music is based around The Musical. Thurs 15 th October 2015 Year 5 Informal Concert Richmond Hall 6:30pm A chance for the pupils of Year 5 to perform together in front of family and friends. Tues 20 th October 2015 Year 8 to Glyndebourne to see Don Pasquale For many in Year 8 this will be their first time seeing a professional production of an opera. An unforgettable experience! Thurs 22 nd October 2015 Year 6 Informal Concert Richmond Hall 6:30pm A chance for the pupils in Year 6 to perform together in front of family and friends.

3 November 2015 Tues 3 rd November 2015 ABRSM Theory Exam 5pm 7pm Thurs 5 th November 2015 Year 4 Informal Concert Richmond Hall 6:30pm A chance for the pupils of Year 4 to perform together in front of family and friends. Sat 7 th November 2015 Orchestral Day 10am 4pm A day of sectional and full orchestra rehearsals for the First Orchestra. The focus is not just on learning new notes, but also how to play in an orchestra! Thurs 12 th November 2015 Year 3 Informal Concert Richmond Hall 6:30pm The first opportunity for the Year 3 pupils to play in front of family and friends. An important step in their musical life through Prebendal! Weds 18 th November 2015 Chamber Choir sing Evensong Cathedral 5:30pm The first Choral Evensong for Chamber Choir. This is always an exciting event for those new to the Choir. Week Beginning Mon 30 th November 2015 ABRSM Exam Week

4 December 2015 Thurs 3 rd December 2015 School Concert Cathedral 7pm A wonderful celebration of all the music that goes on at school, as well as an opportunity to hear many ensembles for the first time this academic year. Fri 4 th December 2015 Chamber Choir sing Carols John Lewis Chichester 1pm Chamber Choir will be bringing the Christmas spirit to shoppers at this well-known store. Tues 8 th December 2015 Chamber Choir sing Carols Wrenford Adult Day Care Centre A chance for the School to give to our community. A very important and moving experience. Starts at 1:30pm. Tues 8 th December 2015 Chamber Choir sing Carols Cathedral Cloisters 6:30pm This event is for the Cathedral Cloisters Restoration Project and is a wonderful opportunity for the School to be involved in the ongoing restoration of our Cathedral, thereby enabling a greater understanding of our heritage. Fri 11 th December 2015 Chamber Choir sing Carols at The Cross TBA Chamber Choir bringing the festive spirit to Chichester by singing in the centre of our city. Tues 15 th December 2015 School Carol Service Cathedral 11:30am A beautiful way to end our term with contributions from all the choirs at Prebendal, as well as many favourite carols for the congregation of family and friends.

5 Did You Know? The Prebendal School has gained an enviable reputation for its exceptional quality and provision of music. Last year, in all ABRSM grades, our students consistently achieved well above the national average; 23% achieved Distinction and 41% Merit. In 2015, eight Year 8 pupils (33%) achieved Music Scholarships to a prestigious senior school. 90% of our pupils receive instrumental tuition, with more than half of them learning two instruments. The Prebendal has been the choir school of Chichester Cathedral for hundreds of years and the Choristers sing almost every day in the Cathedral.
