24 th Annual Conference on Cardiovascular Nursing Wednesday, April 2, 2014 7:00 am - 3:45 pm Boston Marriott Newton, Newton, MA PROGRAM OBJECTIVE This program is designed to increase registered nurses and other healthcare professionals knowledge of current cardiovascular issues confronting the healthcare professional caring for cardiac patients across the spectrum of care. LEARNING OBJECTIVES At the completion of this program, the learner will be able to: Discuss the role of the anticoagulation provider for improving transitions of care. Recognize the need to practice self-care in nursing and describe one method of self-care after vicarious traumatization. Assess patient and develop strategy for rate and/or rhythm control. Describe three effects of pregnancy on pre-existing cardiac conditions such as valvular disease, cardiomyopathies and coronary disease and provide two examples of available risk stratification tools for counseling of pregnancy risk. Describe how current ICD technology influences patient selection of cardiac implantable electrical devices. Discuss the pathophysiology of cardiac arrest and provide two strategies for improving outcome. Provide an overview of discharge planning for patients with an ICD.
