2 Purpose and Learner Outcomes: Nursing faculty from across the US will come together to discuss best teaching practices for transitioning nursing students into the reality of nursing practice Objectives: Analyze the challenges of millennial age students Review theory based strategies related to transitioning nursing students into practice Examine research related to transitioning millennial age students into practice Develop professional writing skills Use simulation case studies to teach students the reality of practice expectations UK College of Nursing Continuing Education is holding the 12th Annual Faculty Development Workshop at the UK Chandler Medical Center and the UK College of Nursing. This workshop will feature national speakers, including Dr. Cynthia Thomas on transitioning students into practice. Dr. Marilyn Oermann will lead a writing workshop focusing on publication. Dr. Lori Lioce will be the key note speaker for the simulation workshop. Other presenters include respected Kentucky nurse leaders as well as distinguished UK College of Nursing faculty. Availability will be on a first-come first-serve basis Registration fee includes attending the conference, lite breakfast, boxed lunch, continuing nursing education contact hours, and access to conference materials. Materials will be provided online. Credit card payment types include Visa and MasterCard Accreditation The University of Kentucky, College of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC). This educational activity is offered for a maximum of 12.7 ANCC contact hours. The Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) approves The University of Kentucky, College of Nursing (UKCON) as a provider as well. ANCC and KBN approval of a continuing nursing education provider does not constitute endorsement of program content nor commercial sponsors. The University of Kentucky does not approve commercial products. This educational activity is offered for a maximum of 15.2 KBN contact hours. Provider #: In order to receive credit, participants complete CNE activity, complete the evaluation form. Certificates may be printed once the evaluation is completed. Refund/ Cancellation Policy A full refund, less a $25 processing fee, will be issued for all cancellations received or postmarked at least one week prior to the course date. No refunds are issued thereafter. Cancellations received the day of the course are not eligible for a refund. UK College of Nursing Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel a course when circumstances are warranted. In such a case, a full refund will be issued.
