The VPN connection supports mainly access to the HWS network drives, not streaming audio/video or downloading large amounts of data. Connect your high-speed internet connection to your computer 2. Open your browser 3. Open a Web page To set up a VPN connection to the HWS network: 1. On the desktop, double-click the Hard disk icon 2. Click on the Applications folder Page 1 of 6
3. Double-click Internet Connect 4. On the menu bar, click File > New VPN Connection Window 5. In the setup window, click PPTP 6. Click Continue 7. In the VPN PPTP window, pull down the Configurations menu and select Edit Configurations Page 2 of 6

To create an alias for the Internet Connect application: 1. Open the Applications folder 2. Click Internet Connect 3. On the main menu, click File > Make Alias The alias will be created in the Applications folder. 4. Drag the Internet Connect alias to the desktop Page 4 of 6
To create a shortcut to your HWS network drives: 1. Click on the desktop 2. On the main menu, click Go > Connect to Server 3. In the Connect to Server dialog box, type in the Server Address for the drive you want: M: drive is smb://fsrv.hws.edu/yourusername$ N: drive is smb://fsrv.hws.edu/pccommon I: drive is smb://fsrv.hws.edu/netcommon 4. Click the plus sign to add the address to your favorites 5. Click Connect 6. When prompted to enter your domain, username and password, the domain is HWSMICRO, username is your HWS username, and password is your HWS password 7. Using VPN in Mac OS X 1. Close all programs and windows 2. Open your Web browser and browse to a Web site to make sure that your Internet connection is working properly 3. When you have established that the Internet connection is working, close the web browser 4. Open Internet Connect Double-click the alias you made on the desktop Go to AirPort > Open Internet Connect 5. Click the VPN (PPTP) for HWS VPN 6. Click Connect 7. When the connection has been established, minimize the VPN (PPTP) window It may take up to one minute for the connection to be fully established over a high-speed internet connection.
