1 INSTALL AND CONNECT TO CISCO ANYCONNECT VPN CLIENT (FOR WINDOWS COMPUTERS) PLEASE READ BEFORE INSTALLING THE CISCO ANYCONNECT SECURE MOBILITY CLIENT SOFTWARE: The VPN is to be used on computers that are not connected directly to the LCPS network, for example, accessing SYNERGY from a home network. SYNERGY and other staff resources will not function properly using the VPN when connected directly to the LCPS Network. Computer administrator rights may be required to install the Cisco VPN client on District issued computers. If you're installing the VPN Client on a personal computer, the IO/TSS Help Desk will provide basic phone support and troubleshooting to help you get started, however, installation on a personal computer is done at your own risk. If you currently have an older version of the VPN client installed, the software will automatically update after you sign in with your username and password. Synergy SIS and Synergy SE are compatible with Internet Explorer and Firefox on computers running Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8. It s recommended your browser be updated to the latest version. Currently, Goggle Chrome is not compatible or supported by Edupoint. To have full system and grade book functionality, the IO Department recommends using Firefox. 1. Open a Firefox browser window and in the address bar, type vpn.lcps.k12.nm.us and enter In the LCPS VPN Service window, enter your user name and password (this will authenticate your account with the server), and then click on the login button. 2

2 3. Click on the AnyConnect link located on the left hand side of the screen. In the AnyConnect section, click on the Start AnyConnect to download and install the client The Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client installation window will appear and will try to auto- install the program. NOTE: The installation may fail and will require to be installed manually. Click on the Windows 7/Vista/64/XP link to start the install. 4

3 5. Firefox will prompt you to save the installation file; click on the Save File button. Locate the file on your computer, as a default Windows will save the file in the Downloads folder. Click on the installation file to run it or you can simply click on the installation file from the Firefox Downloads window The Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Setup window will appear. The Setup Wizard will guide you through the installation process. Click on the Install button, accept the licensing agreement, and then click the Next button to begin the installation. Click on the Finish button after the software is installed

4 7. After the client installs, locate the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client program on your computer. On Windows computers, it will be located in the All Programs menu by clicking on the Start button and then clicking on the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client folder and icon. You can also create a shortcut on your computer desktop You will need to connect to the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client before logging in to Synergy. Click on the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client icon in the All Programs menu or desktop shortcut. The Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client window will appear at the bottom left hand corner of the computer screen (right above the date and time). In the Ready to connect. field, type vpn.lcps.k12.nm.us, and click on the Connect button

5 . In the Cisco AnyConnect vpn.lcps.k12.nm.us window, enter your username and password, and then click on the Ok button. NOTE: The Group will default to LCPS; charter schools (La Academia Dolores Huerta and Las Montañas High School) will need to click on the drop down arrow and select the charters option. The client will establish the VPN and activate the VPN adapter.. After establishing a connection, click on the Firefox icon on the computer desktop and a blank browser window will appear. In the address bar type synergy and enter. In the Synergy login page, enter your username and password, and then click on the login button. NOTE: If you created a favorite, desktop shortcut or bookmark using the old vpn.lcps.k12.nm.us address, you will need to delete it, as it no longer works.
