1 Launching Applications and Mapping Drives Remote Desktop Outlook Launching Web Applications Full Access VPN Note: To access the Media General VPN, anti-virus software must be installed and running on your computer. A list of approved anti-virus software packages can be found at Media General IT cannot provide support for home computers and networks. To access the Media General SSL VPN, open your Web browser and navigate to your computer will be checked for anti-virus software and a scan will be completed to make sure there are no infected processes running. 1

2 If your computer passes the anti-virus check, you will be forwarded to the login screen. Enter your Media General network username and password and click the Logon button. 2

3 Once your username and password have been authenticated, you will be forwarded to the Main Menu. 3

4 Launching Applications (AppTunnels) Mapped Network Drives To open a mapped network drive, click on My Network Drive or Shared Files on Media-General. An applet will be launched that will map your network drives. 4

5 When the login screen is displayed, enter your Media General network login and password and click OK. 5

6 Once the drive has been mapped, click Yes to open the contents of the drive in Windows Explorer. 6

7 Your network drive has now been successfully mapped. 7

8 Some users who don t have local administrator rights on their PCs might experience problems mapping their network drives using the Application Tunnel. Files stored on Media General file servers can also be access via a Web interface. To access shared files and your network drive, click on the links under Windows Files. 8

9 Shared folders and files will be displayed in your Web browser. 9

11 Remote Desktop From the Main Menu, click on Remote Desktop. Once the tunnel has been built, the Remote Desktop application will automatically be launched. 11

12 Outlook From the Main Menu, select Outlook. Once the tunnel has been built, Outlook will automatically be launched. Note: If you do not already have Microsoft Outlook installed on your PC and configured to connect to the Media General Exchange servers, you can access Outlook Web Access at 12

13 Launching Web Applications To open a Web Application, click on any of the Web Applications and it will automatically open in your Internet browser. 13

14 Using Media General Full Access VPN The Full Access VPN option offers access similar to that of the Cisco VPN client. To access the SSL VPN, go to and click on the link that says Click Here to Log Into themeganet. When you are presented with the login screen, enter your Media General network username and password. 14

15 To access the SSL VPN with full network access, click the link that says Media General Full Access VPN. Once the SSL VPN tunnel has been built you will receive the following message. You should now be able to access Media General network applications such as , shared folders, etc. You will not be required to use the other links on the SSL VPN web page while using SSL VPN with full network access. 15
