As well as respnding t a wide range f emergency situatins, the NZFS is fcussed n fire safety and preventin in NZ cmmunities. Apprximately 80% f peratinal staff are vlunteers. Vlunteer brigades prvide essential fire and rescue services t their lcal and surrunding cmmunities. Vlunteer brigades are a vital part f service delivery at NZFS, and ensuring they are sustained and well-supprted is a key rganisatinal pririty. Key Accuntabilities The jb hlder is respnsible fr assisting vlunteer brigades by: Assisting brigades t plan and execute targeted cmmunity Fire Risk Management activities within their District, including participatin in such activities when required Participating in the rll-ut f new initiatives, equipment and prgrammes, either reginal r natinal, t vlunteer brigades Assisting vlunteer brigades with business planning in cnjunctin with the Area Manager and Planning and Perfrmance Manager Driving a high "service eths"; respnding efficiently t custmer needs, and ensuring this apprach is delivered t vlunteer brigades thrughut the Area t a high quality f service delivery that maintains natinal cnsistency Supprting vlunteer brigades with recruitment activities t assist new recruits transitin int a brigade as quickly and smthly as pssible Being the cnduit by crdinating the relatinships between the vlunteer brigade and Area, Regin, Regin Supprt Centre staff, Training, Paid Staff and ther stakehlders Supprting brigades t ensure they maintain a state f peratinal readiness at all times, and assisting where necessary t ensure peratinal readiness and OSH requirements are met, including: Cmpleting mnthly checks in each vlunteer brigade Mnitring peratinal readiness standards Crdinating equipment maintenance, repair and replacement Crdinating peratinal skills maintenance activities Supprting vlunteer brigades t meet their training requirements by prviding guidance in cnjunctin with the trainer and training crdinatr and cntributing t brigade training events thrugh c-rdinatin and/r training delivery Undertaking ther duties cnsistent with the psitin as may be directed frm time t time by the Area Manager.
