Infrmatin Services Many f ur services are typical f any business and ffer similar challenges: Managed desktps and laptps, data strage, , printing, web cntent management fr the internet and intranet, data and vice netwrking, multimedia design and prductin, and the majr applicatins underpinning finance, HR/payrll, marketing, facilities management, cnferencing and a range f cmmercial enterprises, including incubatr premises fr new business ventures. Other challenges are specific t higher educatin and t ur University in particular. This will invlve fundamental change t the business prcesses which underpin the student jurney thrugh the institutin, majr rganisatinal change acrss prfessinal services teams, and the implementatin f a cmprehensive, integrated suite f supprting IT systems. We in Infrmatin Services will play a pivtal rle in this exciting and challenging change prgramme knwn as Transfrm.

2 We als run specialist systems t underpin the life cycle f each research prject as it mves frm grant applicatin thrugh t publicatin and disseminatin. Our researchers need infrmatin t help them target the next exciting and lucrative research pprtunity. They need t be able t demnstrate the impact their research is having in the wrld. As ur missin says, by bld innvatin and excellence in all that we d, we make bth knwledge and discveries matter. This depends n getting the right infrmatin t the right peple within ur cmmunity. Here, the creatin, sharing, analysis and disseminatin f infrmatin are defining activities. It s what we exist t d. The teams led by the Directr Glbal IT Prgrammes and Slutins are; Head f Applicatin Develpment acts as the technical design authrity fr the prtfli f applicatins and sftware which underpin and prvide data fr the University s business prcesses; leads a team f deep technical experts and sftware develpers in this area. Head f Prtfli Delivery accuntable fr delivery f the glbal prject prtfli; acts as the centre f excellence fr prtfli and prject management; leads a team f prfessinal prject and prgramme managers. Head f Infrastructure Slutins acts as the technical design authrity fr the data centres, the netwrk, strage and servers including High Perfrmance Cmputing; leads a team f deep technical experts in this area. Head f User Experience acts as the technical design authrity fr the systems and technlgies which prvide a wrkplace in which users can cmmunicate and cllabrate effectively, and the devices (laptps, desktps, smart phnes, tablets, printers etc.) which enable users t access IT services and data; leads a team f deep technical experts in this area. Head f Testing - wns and maintains the Glbal IS Testing strategies, plicies and prcesses, ensuring they remain fit fr purpse t supprt the University/IS strategies. 3 Yur Rle The Team Lead, Applicatin Develpment is a leadership rle that manages ne f tw teams f develpment team staff t ensure that the prtfli f applicatins and sftware which underpin and prvide data fr the University s business prcesses are delivered successfully and t meet the high expectatins f the University f Nttingham. The fundamental purpse f this rle is t lead and inspire the teams that will be respnsible fr delivery and maintenance f authrised prjects frm the glbal prtfli f new applicatins and sftware which supprts the University s business prcesses. The University recgnises that digitalisatin is ging t fundamentally impact the way it maintains its identity and fulfils its purpse. It has ambitius plans in every area and expects IT t be at the heart f its glbal, digitally cnnected cmmunity. Yu will supprt the Head f Applicatin Develpment t make this visin pssible. Yu will help t establish a culture and ensure that agreed prfessinal practices that underpin successful prject delivery are fllwed. Yu will wrk with the Head f Applicatin Develpment t ensure that resurces are invested cntinuusly in the develpment prjects which are best aligned t University pririties and that slutins are delivered t the right quality standards within a cherent architecture. Yu will be respnsible fr the c-rdinatin f multiple streams f sftware develpment. This rle is a technical leader, prmting, defining, custmising and deplying best practices, including Agile.
