Volunteer positions for program Chronic Pain Australia is starting up a new program called Give Voice to Silent Pain (GVSP) which supplies guest speakers to deliver presentations around their personal experience of chronic pain to a variety of groups in the business, health and general community. The aim is to increase awareness of issues of and address myths around chronic pain within the health and general communities leading to improved resources and services. There are a number of volunteer positions available including: Program Co-ordinators Training Days Trainers Training Day Facilitators Program Marketing Co-ordinators Program Administrators Guest Speakers Guest Speaker Assistant These volunteers will be required to work independently and in liaison with the President of Chronic Pain Australia and Project Manager of GVSP. There is the potential to combine positions, for example, program co-ordinators with training day facilitator, if volunteers are interested. Positions can also be divided, for example, the co-ordinating speaker engagement side of program co-ordinator.

Job Description Program Co-ordinator GSVSP are looking for several volunteer program coordinators for the new Guest Speaker program. The coordinators will be responsible for the recruitment, support and individual training and mentoring of guest speakers. The coordinators will also be responsible for all aspects of the speaker engagement process, including answering enquiries, taking bookings and organising the speakers, for interested groups and organisations with in the general and health communities. The program co-ordinators will be provided with necessary documentations and templates such as an interview question format and training day schedule to assist them in their role. Answering enquiries from potential speakers and engagement organisations regarding the GSPV program Screening, interviewing, screening and selecting potential speaker applicants Provide one on one induction, training and mentoring of recruited speakers Undertake speaker engagement presentations acting as presenter, co-speaker or support to the Speakers as part of their induction, training and mentoring program Take bookings from engagement organisations, match speakers to engagement according to organisational requirements and speaker s skills, experience and type of chronic pain condition experienced. Liaise between speaker and engagement organisation to ensure a special engagement including gaining feedback from both speaker and engagement organisation Liaise as required with President of Chronic Pain Australia, Project Manager of Give Silent Pain a Voice and other relevant GSPV volunteers. Job Description Training Day Trainer Chronic Pain Australia is looking for a volunteer with training delivery experience to deliver speaker training day sessions in the area of chronic pain. The trainer will be required to use their facilitator skills and the training day schedule provided to train speakers in speaker skills that are in align with Chronic Pain Australia s visions and goal for the project. Deliver a training day to a group of 15-20 participants at a venue arranged by Chronic Pain Australia according to training day outline and training session plan using a variety of training methods. The training will include supporting guest speakers, conducting icebreakers and practical exercises, providing an overview of Chronic Pain Australia and program, National Pain Strategy, myths and truths around chronic pain, speaking and technical skills and dealing with difficult situations. Prior to the training day peruse background material provided on Chronic Pain Australia, myths and truths around chronic pain, National Pain Strategy, articles and written material providing around issues to do with chronic pain to get a sense of issues surrounding chronic pain and the philosophy and messages Chronic Pain Australia wishes to impart. Peruse and, with consultation with Chronic Pain Australia staff, adapt training day materials for training day Liaise with President, GSPV Project Manager and Training Day Facilitator as required to ensure a smooth training day. This would include discussing expectations, suggestions for the training day outline including content and training method delivery, requests for required materials and equipment, needs of guest speakers and participants, outline of venue setting and other relevant matters. Volunteers will have the opportunity to share their stories and raise awareness about chronic pain in the health and general community by giving presentations to engagement organisations to organisations and groups in the community. Volunteers will receive training at a formal training day.
