1 (ac 4/8/14) Brighton JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Reports to: Job Purpose: Chief Executive To plan, coordinate and deliver Brighton Principal Accountabilities: 1. To work with the Chief Executive, Guest Director, Senior Producer, Senior Management Team and creative producing team to devise and execute a balanced artistic festival programme in line with the ambitions laid out in the Corporate Strategy. 2. To hold principal accountability for the diary, balancing conflicting calls on space and financial resources from Operations, Artistic Development and Creative Learning. 3. To oversee all commissions, co-productions, productions and partnerships in conjunction with Chief Executive and Producers. 4. To co-ordinate programming/planning meetings, involving the creative team, also sharing creative meetings with other departments including Finance, Marketing, Press, Development, Ticketing, Creative Learning and Operations. 5. To be responsible for the budget, regularly reporting to the Chief Executive and the Senior Management Team, working with the Management Accountant and with all departments in projecting, monitoring and keeping to expenditure lines. 6. To manage freelancers and follow recruitment procedures as required. 7. To ensure that the is delivered on schedule and on budget, mindful of the strategic objectives set by Chief Executive and Senior Management Team

2 8. To oversee and guide the negotiation and production decisions being made over all events. 9. To produce the Outdoor Programme working closely with the Outdoor Programme Production Manager and liaising with consortia (Without Walls) and other festivals as appropriate. 10. To work closely with the External Venue Production Manager ensuring that external venues are booked, suitable, safe and events are delivered to the same production and visitor service standard as the Dome s own three venues. 11. To ensure effective use of the Music, Theatre and Dance Producers (who also deliver the year round seasonal programme for the Dome) in relation to the, liaising closely with Line Managers as required. Specifically managing the overview of timely brochure completion, on-sales, contracting and payment processes. 12. To ensure effective use of the Programming s (who are also working on the year round seasonal programme) in relation to the, liaising closely with Line Managers as required. 13. To manage the and oversee their workload (eg. venue bookings, UKBA liaison, FEU coordination, catering requests, Artifax updates and accommodation and travel bookings. 14. To work with Human Resources to recruit and manage volunteers; tasks include meeting & greeting, artistic planning support, creating artist welcome packs. 15. To be the central communications lynch pin liaising with all departments across Brighton Dome & Brighton 16. To contribute to press and marketing calls as required. 17. To coordinate the industry launch event in February 2015 and liaise closely with relevant personnel on the Press and Members launch events. 18. To constantly re-evaluate and improve upon processes where possible in all areas of work as a matter of course. 19. To contribute to evaluations and reporting to stakeholders and funders as required. 20. To organise and coordinate the post-festival debriefs with individual freelancers, internal and partner organisations.

Working with the Finance Officer and Management Accountant to manage the timely payment of artists and contractors - and to gain absolute sign off on reconciled budget following the from the Chief Executive and the Senior Management Team 22. To contribute to the organisation s understanding of diversity and it s implications for the arts 23. To promote and comply with Brighton Dome & Brighton s policies on equal opportunities and Health and Safety, both in delivery of services and treatment of others. 24. To carry out any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Chief Executive. 5 ESSENTIAL CRITERIA Brighton Dome & Brighton PERSON SPECIFICATION Proven extensive experience of working in an arts management role at senior management level. Specialist expertise in the programming and producing of dance, theatre, contemporary and classical music, literature and outdoor arts. Commitment to innovation and excellence in the arts across all the forms and particularly to inter-disciplinary work. Demonstrable knowledge of a wide range of art forms, diverse cultures and current artistic practice. Commercial awareness, strong negotiation and producing skills across genres and differing scales of work. Experience of setting and managing complex and fast moving budgets, and a track record of ensuring projects are delivered within organisational financial parameters. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to expedite relationship building with a wide range of people, both internally and externally, and to work collaboratively with colleagues. Extensive experience of working within festival teams and large venue teams; and a natural ability to build and lead a team. A focus on delivery with the ability to turn ideas into action. Experience of leading complex planning and operational processes within an arts environment. Ability to take initiative in areas of strategic priority. Outstanding problem-solving ability. A flexible, proactive and positive approach to work. Demonstrable knowledge and commitment to the principles of diversity. A strong awareness of Health and Safety legislation. DESIRABLE CRITERIA. An ability to spot talent and create viable projects to build artists and audience s engagement Proven ability to plan a wide range of events balancing artistic integrity and commercial success Significant promoter contacts within the arts industry.
