CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER, JOB GROUP MR/14 (1 POSITION) Position Description: - The holder of this position will report to the Director, KEMRI/CEO. The primary role of this position is to develop, implement and maintain procurement strategies that delivers cost efficiency, satisfies the Institute s procurement needs in a timely manner while adhering to the laid down Public procurement laws and regulations. Duties and Responsibilities:- Advise the management and all staff on adherence to the Public Procurement laws and regulations that guide public procurement Ensure the formulation, implementation, control and monitoring of the procurement policies and procedures in the Institute. Develop and implement cost effective procurement strategies to ensure that they add value and meet the Institute s objectives. Ensure the development of appropriate supply chain management accountability structures for effective and efficient procurement of goods, services and works; Coordinating preparation of procurement plans in accordance with the budget process; Spearheading the review of tender and contract documents, requests for proposals and advise user departments in preparation of procurement specifications for various goods, works and services. SENIOR PRINCIPAL LEGAL OFFICER - JOB GROUP MR/13 (1 POSITION) Position Description:- The holder of this position will report to the Institute s Corporation Secretary/Head Legal. The primary role of this position is to offer legal support to the Institute s research arm, in management of research contracts and agreements by ensuring that all relevant laws are adhered to as the Institute engages its partners both locally and internationally. The holder will also be expected to offer support in drafting of other contracts and legal documents besides, representing the Institute s interests in court matters. Duties and Responsibilities:- Reviewing and drafting contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensuring that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements: Developing legal documents/instruments; Preparing legal opinions to the management; Coordinating stakeholders consultations; Providing legal risk review and legal advice; 3

INTERNAL AUDITOR II JOB GROUP MR/9 - (3 POSITIONS) Position Description: Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing independent and objective assurance, as well as consulting service to add value and improve the Institute operations. Duties and Responsibilities:- Review the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls systems and make recommendations on areas requiring improvement. Plan and execute assigned audit engagements on systems and processes in accordance with auditing standards. Prepare audit reports on engagement findings highlighting issues & potential risk with recommendations. Assist/ participate in the preparation of annual audit plan. Confirming compliance with statutes, regulations and government guidelines. Identifying risks in the institute s management structures, processes and systems and recommend appropriate initiatives to mitigate the risks. Perform special assignments as requested by audit management from time to time. Developing graphics and layouts for product illustrations and the website. Editing of photographs and maintaining archive of images, photos and all previous work products Formulating infomercials to portray the Institute s products.
