1 UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI INTERNAL ADVERTISEMENTS FOR UNIVERSITY EMPLOYEES ONLY PROFESSOR, INSTITUTE FOR DEVELOPMENT STUDIES TWO POSTS AC/3/114/16 (R & T) Applicants must be holders of a PhD in Development Studies or Development related disciplines with specialization in any of the following areas: Development Management, Agriculture and Development, Environment and Development5, Urban Governance and Development and Development Theory and Practice. In addition they must have a minimum ten (10) years of teaching and research experience, three (3) of which must be at Associate Professor level. They must have successfully supervised a minimum of three (3) PhD and five (5) Masters students to completion. They must show evidence of participation in scholarly related activities. They should have a minimum of six (6) publications in refereed journals or three (3) publications in refereed journals and three (3) chapters in scholarly books since the last promotion. Successful candidates will be expected to provide academic leadership, teach postgraduate students, organize and guide research programs and undertake further research in their areas of specialization. They will also be expected to participate in the Institute and College activities. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, INSTITUTE FOR DEVELOPMENT STUDIES 1 POST AC/3/115/16 (R & T) Applicants must be holders of a PhD in Development Studies or Development related disciplines with specialization in any of the following areas: Development and Economics, Environment and Development, Entrepreneurship and Development, Human Resources and Development, Education and Development, Development History, Population Development. They should have successfully supervised at least two (2) PhD and three (3) Masters students to completion. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATIONS ONE (1) POST AC/3/116/16 (R & T) Applicants should be holders of PhD in the relevant field or equivalent in any of the following areas: History of Education, Sociology of Education, Comparative and Contemporary issues in Education from a recognized university. They must have at least eight (8) years teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, three (3) of which must be at Senior Lecturer level. They must have supervised at least two (2) PhD students and three (3) Masters students to completion. Applicants must have at least five (5) publications in refereed journals or three (3) publications and two (2) chpters in scholarly books since the last promotion. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate students and to undertake research in their areas of specialization.

2 SENIOR LECTURER, DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL MEDICINE AND THERAPEUTICS 2 POSTS AC/3/117/16 (R & T) Applicants must be holders of an MBChB degree or its equivalent with an MMed degree or a PHD in Internal Medicine or equivalent from a recognized University and registered with KMPDB or eligible for such registration. They should have a minimum five (5) years teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Applicants must have supervised a minimum of three (3) Masters students to completion and shown evidence of continuing research through publication of at least four (4) publications in refereed journals or two (2) publications and two (2) book chapters in scholarly books since last promotion. The successful candidates are expected to carry our teaching duties at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as clinical duties at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH). They will be expected to undertake research in the relevant areas. SENIOR LECTURER, DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY - 1 POST AC/3/118/16/ (CBPS) Applicants must be holders of a PhD in Exploration Geophysics and/or Geochemistry, as applied to areas with Geothermal Resources, Structural Geology and Tectonic, Engineering Geology or Hydrogeology from a recognized university. They should have a minimum five (5) years teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Applicants must have supervised a minimum of three (3) Masters students to completion and shown evidence of continuing research through publication of at least four (4) publications in refereed journals or two (2) publications and two (2) book chapters in scholarly books since last promotion. They should show evidence of continuing research activity The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate students and to undertake research in their areas of specialization. SENIOR LECTURER, DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES TWO (2) POSTS AC/3/119/16 (R & T) Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in their areas of specialization in Geography from a recognized university. They should have a minimum of five (5) years teaching experience both at undergraduate and postgraduate level and must have supervised at least three (3) Masters students to completion. They should have experience in research as evidenced by at least four (4) publications in refereed journals or two (2) publications and two (2) chapters in scholarly books since last promotion. FIMS SENIOR OFFICER SENIOR ACCOUNTANT II EQUIVALENT) - 3 POSTS AC/3/120/16 (R & T) Applicants should have a minimum B.Sc. in Computer Science or Information Systems or a Higher Diploma in Information Systems or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. Applicants are expected to have technical skills in Systems Development and Management, Effective Communication Skills, Good Systems Analytical and Diagnostic Skills among others. Applicants must also have participated in design, development and implementation of a major information system. Applicants should in addition have at least three (3) years managing and working experience in a Finance department. Those with Diploma and have worked with Financial Systems for at least five (5) years will be considered. ASSISTANT REGISTRAR, INSTITUTE FOR DEVELOPMENT STUDIES 1 POST AC/3/121/16 (R & T)

3 Applicants must be holders of a Master s degree in Public Administration or Human Resource Management or its equivalent. In addition, they should be holders of CPS (K) or any other relevant professional qualification. They must have at least six (6) years of administrative experience, three (3) of which must be at Senior Administrative Assistant level. They must be computer literate. They must be members of a recognized professional administration or management body. Applicants with experience in the following areas will have an added advantage: Administration of Institutional Research Projects and; Use of Student Management Information System (SMIS) TECHNOLOGIST GRADE ABC, DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY 1 POST AD/3/122/16 (CBPS) Applicants should have attained a minimum of Grade C in KCSE or Div. III in KCE examination or equivalent qualifications with good passes in Science subjects. In addition the applicants should have minimum qualification of a Diploma in Biology, Certificate in Instrumentation Maintenance and minimum working experience of three (3) years. They should have proven working experience in a Geological Teaching Environment, especially in Palaeontology Laboratory. Computer Literacy, GIS knowledge and possession of valid driving licence will be an added advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to assist staff in the preparation of students practicals, teaching materials, maintenance of Geological Laboratory and field equipment, records and keep laboratories tidy. SECRETARY GRADE C, INSTITUTE FOR DEVELOPMENT STUDIES 1 POST AD/3/123/16 (CHSS) Applicants should be holders of at least a KCSE mean Grade C or KCE Division III or an equivalent qualification with a credit in English Language. In addition they must have passed the following subjects offered by the KNEC or equivalent body: - Business English III Commerce II Secretarial Duties II Office Management III Shorthand III (minimum 120 wpm) or Audio- Typewriting III Typewriting 50 wpm They should have certificates in and be able to use Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Data Base Management packages and at least three (3) years experience as Assistant Secretary Grade B or a comparable position of responsibility. They should have knowledge of Anti-virus Tools. SECRETARY GRADE B, TRANSPORT AND GARAGE DEPARTMENT 1 POST AD/3/124/16 (R & T) Applicants should be holders of at least a KCSE mean Grade C or KCE Division III or an equivalent qualification with a credit in English Language. TRANSPORT CLERK GRADE IV, TRANSPORT AND GARAGE DEPARTMENT 1 POST AD/3/125/16 (R & T) Applicants should be holders of at least a KCSE mean Grade C or KCE Division III or equivalent qualification with credits in English and Mathematics or equivalent. They must have a Certificate in Business Management or equivalent and three (3) years experience as Transport Clerk Grade III. MANAGER, DATA CENTRE (SENIOR ASSISTANT REGISTRAR AND EQUIVALENT), ICT CENTRE 1 POST AC/3/78/16 (R & T) Qualifications: Must have a minimum of MSc. Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or an equivalent qualification Skills: (a) Must have technical skills in system administration on diverse platforms. (b) Must have effective communication and good interpersonal skills. (c) Must have good diagnostic skills. Duties and responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Deputy Director (Communication & Data Centre) to implement and maintain Data Centre Infrastructure and Services, More specifically: (a) To plan, design and implement server systems, facilities and services (b) To provide systems and database administration services for University servers. (c) To install, configure, optimise and maintain server systems. (d) To manage server systems users and resources. (e) To formulate, implement and enforce server usage policies and standards. (f) To design, implement and manage server security systems and procedures. (g) To monitor and fine-tune the performance of servers and server processes. (h) To oversee the implementation, maintenance and support of server systems. (i) To identify skill requirements and pursue appropriate training. (j) To identify tools, services and facility requirements and advice on their procurement. (k) To design, implement and manage server backup procedures. (l) To perform other duties assigned by Deputy Director (CNIS). Experience:

5 (a) Must have at least 5 years experience as Systems and Database Administrator in a corporate environment. (b) Must have at least 3 year s team management experience. CHIEF ICT OFFICER (SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION) - ASSISTANT REGISTRAR AND EQUIVALENT AC/3/88/16 (R & T) Qualifications: Must have a minimum of MSc. degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or an equivalent qualification OR a BSc in any of the above areas with 3 years experience Skills: (a) Must have technical skills in system administration on diverse platforms. (b) Must have effective communication and good interpersonal skills. (c) Must have good diagnostic skills. Duties and responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Manager, Data Centre to implement and maintain server systems, infrastructure and services. More specifically: (a) To assist in the design, implementation and administration of server systems, facilities and services in line with established University s policies, standards and procedures (b) To install, configure, optimise and maintain server systems. LECTURER IN CLINICAL PHARMACY, DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACEUTICS AND PHARMACY PRACTICE 1 POST AC/3/79/16 (CHS) Applicants should be holders of PhD degree in Clinical Pharmacy or its equivalent or should be holders of a Masters Degree in Clinical Pharmacy or Clinical Pharmacology and must have three (3) years teaching experience at University level and have registered for a PhD in Clinical Pharmacy or Clinical Pharmacology.

6 They should have research experience with at least two (2) publications on refereed journals or two (2) chapters in scholarly books. They must show evidence of continuing research activity and must be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board. NOTE: 1. Applicants for academic posts (AC) should forward ten (10) copies of their application letters accompanied by similar number of certified copies of certificates and C.Vs giving details of their qualifications, experience, research activities and publications they appear in.
