University Librarian Grade 15 (NT/ULIB/12/09) Must possess MA/M.Sc. in Library and Information Science Should have 15 years experience in an Academic Library service A Ph.D. in Library and Information Science and 10 years of experience in an academic Library service. In both cases the applicants: Must have at least 5 years proven experience in management of academic library at senior level. Must be conversant with Library ICT applications. Must have experience in sourcing library materials. 2. Deputy University Librarian Grade 14 (NT/DULIB/12/09) Must possess MA/MSc in Library and Information Science. Must have 12 years experience in an academic library service. A PhD in Library and Information Service and seven (7) years experience in an academic library. In both cases applicants must: Have at least 3 years proven experience in management of an academic library at senior level. Be conversant with library ICT applications. Have an experience in sourcing library materials. C). RESEARCH, PRODUCTION AND EXTENSION i) Extension and Technology Transfer Section 1. Chief Extension and Technology Transfer Officer Grade 15 (NT/RPECETTO/12/09) Must be Ph.D. holders at Professor or Associate Professor level Need to demonstrate that he/she is a strategic thinker on ways the university can improve its extension services, meeting the ever dynamic societal needs through university extension services Must demonstrate a track record in team leadership skills, where teams he/she has lead have been able to achieve strategic performance in extension services Must have published at least six papers in refereed journals or three university level books Must have supervised post-graduate students With experience in extension and/or technology transfer will have an added advantage JKUAT ISO 9001:2008 Certified 3

Should possess a Ph.D. in related field Should demonstrate teaching experience in related field Should demonstrate innovative skills on ways and means of improving extension services Should have a track record in extending university knowledge and products to the community Should have twelve (12) years experience in extension activities Linkages 1. Chief Linkage Officer Grade 15 (NT/RPECLO/12/09) iii) Must be at the level of full professor or in exceptional cases be an Associate Professor with a proven track record in research and publications Need to demonstrate that he/she is a strategic thinker on ways the university can improve its linkages aligned to national needs and at the same time meet international standards Should demonstrate a track record in team leadership skills, where teams have he/she has lead have been able to achieve strategic performance in linkages/collaborations Must have published at least six papers in refereed journals or three university level books Must have experience in coordinating linkages activities at both international and national levels Production Division 1. Chief Production Officer Grade 15 (NT/RPECPO/12/09) Must have be a Ph.D. degree in a business related discipline Must have experience on integrated approach to scaling up of Research and Development products into commercializable products Must have experience in innovation process (Creating value chains from research outputs to the end user) Must have track record of management of production units in a busy environ Must demonstrate ability to coordinate production units and marketing of products Must demonstrate experience in database management Must have published at least six papers in peer refereed journals or three university level books 2. Principal Production Officer Grade 14 (NT/RPEPPO/12/09) Must be a planning expert with a Ph.D. in relevant field. Senior Lecturer in Finance (AC/SLEC/CES/12/09/1) Applicants should have a PhD from a recognized university in the above discipline. They must have at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level since appointment as Lecturer plus research experience as evidenced by EITHER at least three (3) publications in refereed journals or at least two (2) university level books in the candidate s area of specialisation. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students. He/She must have demonstrated good leadership skills. The first degree must have been attained in Agriculture or related fields such as Horticulture, Livestock Production or Veterinary Medicine. They must have at least three (3) years teaching experience at university level since appointment as Assistant Lecturer/Tutorial Fellow. Evidence of publications will be an added advantage. Those with relevant Masters degree and are registered Ph.D. candidates may also be considered. Senior Lecturer (AC/SLEC/COMP/12/09) Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Engineering, Communication Engineering or an equivalent qualification and have a minimum of three (3) years uninterrupted teaching experience in Computing, Information and Communication Technologies at lecturer level. Considerable experience in teaching post-graduate courses and supervising students at doctorate level will be an added advantage. Applicants with Master s degrees in the given areas and five (5) years uninterrupted University teaching in Computing, Information & Communication Technologies and publications will be considered. Ph.D. registration or experience in teaching post-graduate courses and supervising students at Masters level will be an added advantage. 2. Lecturer (AC/LEC/COMP/12/09) Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Engineering, Communication Engineering. Applicants with Master s degrees in the given areas and three (3) years uninterrupted University teaching in Computing, Information & Communication Technologies and publications will be considered. Applicants should be willing to register for a Ph.D program within two years upon appointment. ii) Department of Information Technology: 1. Senior Lecturer (AC/SLEC/IT/12/09) Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Engineering, Communication Engineering or an equivalent qualification and have a minimum of three (3) years uninterrupted teaching experience in Computing, Information and Communication Technologies at lecturer level. Considerable experience in teaching post-graduate courses and supervising students at doctorate level will be an added advantage. Applicants should be willing to register for a Ph.D program within two years upon appointment. I. DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING 1. Senior Lecturer (AC/SLEC/EEE/12/09) The candidate must have a PhD in Electrical & Electronic Engineering plus at least three years of teaching/research as a lecturer or research fellow. The candidate must have at least three publications in refereed journals or one university level book. Registration with Kenya Engineers Registration Board will be an added advantage. 2. Lecturer (AC/LEC/EEE/12/09) The candidate must have a PhD in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. Those with a Masters degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering plus five years of university teaching/research as Assistant Lecturer and at least three publications in referred journals will also be considered.
