POSITION INFORMATION SVN No: SVN/IOMSO/085/2013 Position title Database & IT Officer Position grade Ungraded equivalent to G6/01 (Somalia salary scale) US$ Duty station 1, pm Mogadishu, Somalia Duration 6 months with possibility of extension (3 rd party contract) Job family: Programs Organizational unit: Field Coordination Unit Subject to rotation No Reporting directly to Project Coordinator Overall supervision by Grants Manager Managerial responsibility None Directly reporting staff 0 II. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE Under the overall guidance of the Mayor of Mogadishu, in direct collaboration with the Deputy Mayor, and under overall supervision of the project Coordinator for DanGuud and under the direct supervision of the Grants Manager, the Database/IT officer will support DanGuud unit achievement of its objectives in Mogadishu by producing and disseminating information which is then classified into a database. The Database/IT officer is responsible for IT needs as well as collecting, analysing, investigating, managing and distributing composite information associated with the DanGuud program in Mogadishu. 1

2 III. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Support program staff and the entire Dan Guud unit with day to day IT support 2. Train Mogadishu staff of use of the TIS Database, SharePoint, GIS Equipment, Dropbox and other TIS information systems 3. Maintain and troubleshoot all TIS DanGuud IT equipment, report and log equipment faults and advice DanGuud SMT 4. Liaise with IT services suppliers to ensure DanGuud gets quality services such as Internet and IT consumables 5. Liaise with the Database officer in the Nairobi Coordinating office for database issues 6. Lead GIS data collection exercise for all DanGuud Grants 7. Assist in the review of program implementation and contribute to prepare and formulate quarterly reports 8. Oversee data collection and manage system to store and analyze data 9. Work with program staff to develop a list of indicators that will help measure the overall progress of the project 10. In cooperation with program staff, ensure grant monitoring information is included in the Database 11. Access Database, and ensure that accurate reporting of all grants is carried out 12. Design and coordinate data collection, analyze the results, and present clear findings to implementers, beneficiaries, and the donor 13. Assist in developing program strategies and direction by providing relevant information status 14. Develop project maps based on the projects within the database 15. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 1) Higher Diploma in Information Technology, Mathematics or business related field. 2) At least three years professional work experience in database development, grants database management or finance related field, especially on USAID funded projects. 3) GPS experience is an advantage. 4) Highly proficient in Ms Word, Excel, Access, Power-point and the use of Internet for Research VI. LANGUAGES Required English and Somali Fluent Advantageous Arabic 4
