To be eligible a student must have maintained at least a B grade point average and participated in one of the 27 sports officially sanctioned by the National Federation of State High School Associations, and demonstrated active involvement in his or her community. Now through October 2, 2015, class of 2016 graduating seniors can apply at www.wendyshighschoolheisman.com. (Number 1) The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards recognizes the top high school youth volunteer in each state. Information (no applications) are available in guidance. Information and applications available online at http://spirit.prudential.com. Students should complete their online applications by Tuesday, November 3, 2015. Nominee(s) must be certified by their school by Tuesday, November 10, 2015. (Number 3) The Horatio Alger Association Scholarship provides financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. (Number 8) The Timothy Charron Memorial Scholarship for a senior who is the son, stepson, daughter or stepdaughter of a Chatham Fire Department Firefighter or Ladies Auxiliary member. (Number 28) The Heidi Severance Award to a senior planning to attend Hudson Valley Community College and enter the field of Human Services. Application in guidance. Deadline to guidance APRIL 15, 2016. (Number 30) Meghan Kraham Memorial Scholarship is awarded to one male and one female senior (or more) who are committed to pursuing a post secondary education. The recipients shall be students who, like Meghan Kraham, engaged in community service, strong and positive school spirit through extracurricular school activities, and conducted themselves with a high moral code and serve as a good role model for other students. Application in guidance; deadline to guidance is MAY 2, 2016. (Number 34) The John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest. Students are asked to write an original and creative essay of 1,000 words or less that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage. Describe and analyze an act of political courage by a United States elected official that took place during or after 1956. Include an analysis of the obstacles, risks, and consequences associated with the act. The essay may concern an issue at the local, state, national, or international level. Czajkowski, Jr. Memorial Scholarship awarded to a graduating member of the football team who brings a crucial, intangible value to the team and his teammates. (Number 112) Ghent VFW #5933 Auxiliary Scholarship is awarded to a child, grandchild, niece or nephew who is a graduating student and also related to a Veteran of Foreign Wars. Miles of HOPE Breast Cancer Foundation College Scholarships assist college bound high school seniors who have been affected by breast cancer in some way. Information in guidance Must be done online. (Number 29) The GE Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program awards roughly 20 college bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarships. Scholarship awards THREE scholarships: The $10,000 Major Environmental Career Scholarship The $5,000 Nicholas J. (Number 4) The Boston University Trustee Scholarship Competition where Scholars are selected from high schools around the world, are typically in the top ten percent of their class and are leaders in their schools and communities. The Trustee Scholarship covers full undergraduate tuition plus orientation and mandatory undergraduate student fees for four years. To be considered, students must submit their application for admission and Trustee Scholarship essay by December 1, 2015. (Number 80) The Martin Tuczinski Community Leadership Award is given to a graduating senior who has demonstrated leadership, an interest in government, patriotism, and community service. (Number 31) NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award is a scholarship for a graduating high school senior who operates his/her own small business. (Number 79) The Vanguard Student Recognition Award recognizes outstanding secondary and post secondary level students who are enrolled in CTE programs that are not traditional for their gender. A nontraditional career is an occupation where one sex comprises fewer than 25% of the total employed. Visit the NET website at www.netprogram.org for a complete list of these occupations. Apply online at www.berkshiretaconic.org (Number 68) Quailwood Scholarship is for full time residents of Red Rock for most of the two years prior to this application and have been accepted at a college or professional program. Apply online at www.berkshiretaconic.org (Number 88) Fairbank Family Scholarship Fund will award scholarships to two or four year college bound and/or vocational training bound graduating seniors who are dependents of employees of Jiminy Peak or Centerplate employees working at Jiminy Peak. Apply online at www.berkshiretaconic.org (Number 89) Quality Printing Scholarship for individuals who have a parent or step parent who has been a full time employee of Quality Printing for not less than five years prior to the application. Apply online at www.berkshiretaconic.org (number 90) Sons of the American Revolution George & Stella Knight Essay Contest is for sophomores, juniors or seniors the contest is conducted in three phases: local, state and National. Our National, yet local Society, seeks to maintain and expand the meaning of patriotism, respect for our national symbols, the value of American citizenship, and the unifying force of e pluribus unum. (Number 1B) SEFCU SCHOLARSHIPS for a high school senior who is the primary member on a SEFCU account. Applicants will be judged on academic performance, extracurricular, community and volunteer activities, and the quality and content of a written essay. Please e mail marketing@sefcu.com for the following scholarship application packets: 1. SEFCU Smart Sense Scholarship ($1,000) is open to all college bound high school seniors who are SEFCU members. Deadline to SEFCU is January 15, 2016. (Number 18) 2. SEFCU John Ilacqua Memorial Scholarship ($2,500) is available to one high school senior who is a SEFCU member and planning to attend Siena College. The one time scholarship is given to a student with a strong academic record who has demonstrated a commitment to his/her community through volunteerism. Deadline to SEFCU is January 15, 2016. (Number 18) 3. New York Credit Union Association (NYCUA) Scholarship ($500 & $1,000) will be awarded to high school seniors. (Number 18) Marion Heath Payn Scholarship Program is administered by the Board of Education of Chatham Central School District from funds received from the estate of Marion Heath Payn. The income from these funds is used to provide scholarships to worthy and needy graduates of Chatham High School. Applications in guidance; deadline is May 2, 2016. (Number 36)

CEN Manufacturing 2015 Scholarship is awarded to encourage students to consider careers in manufacturing. For high school seniors graduating in 2016 and accepted at an accredited two or four year college, university or trade school and planning to enroll in a major which can lead to qualifying for a position with a manufacturer. Applications in guidance. Deadline to Organization is March 31, 2016. (Number 7) The Ned Carter Scholarship offered by the Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York to NYS High School Seniors graduating in June of 2016. Student MUST be related to or be a Firefighter in an affiliated member organization of the Association of Fire Districts of NYS and MUST reside in NYS. Applicant should be pursuing a post secondary career in the community service related areas of endeavor at a 2 or 4 year college. Applications in guidance or online at www.firedistnys.com or in guidance. Applications MUST be postmarked by the first Saturday in March and mailed to AFDSNY Scholarship Committee. (Number 16) Ronald McDonald Scholarship for high school seniors. Information available in guidance or at www.rmhcnytristate.org/. Deadline for application is January 20, 2016. CNY Air & Waste Management Association offers Scholarships to high school seniors enrolled in a Central New York college for the fall 2016 semester in an environmental related program of study. (Number 87) Phi Delta Kappa Future Educator Scholarships to assist high school seniors who plan to major in education. Applications in guidance. Deadline to Phi Delta Kappa is March 1, 2016. (Number 118) FASNY Gerald J. Buckenmeyer Volunteer Scholarship is for applicant whose parent/legal guardian is a member in good standing with FASNY(Firemen s Association of the State of New York); must be a senior in high school who is enrolled in the fall 2015 school year at an accredited 2/4 year institution of higher learning; is a current junior firefighter, explorer Scout or a RAM volunteer; a volunteer firefighter is a volunteer fire department or a volunteer with an EMS agency; and has demonstrated a commitment to volunteer service and to the community. (Number 91) St. John Fischer College Foreign Language Scholarships are awarded to two high school seniors. These scholarships are available to high school seniors with proficiency in French, German, Italian, or Spanish, a minimum of 1000 SAT or 22 ACT composite score. Students of all majors are eligible with priority given to those students majoring in a foreign language. To qualify, students must apply for admission to the College and be nominated by a teacher or counselor; the nomination package must be postmarked by January 22, 2016. (Number 27) NYS Bar Association 2015 2016 Civics Poster / Essay Contest for 11th or 12th grade students sponsored by the NYS Bar Association Young Lawyers Section and Law Youth & Citizenship Committee. Participants may submit one poster and or one essay in the hope and intent that this contest will serve as a platform to enhance students understanding of the US Government through their creative participation.. (Number 26) Berkshire Bank Scholarships are offered to HS Seniors with a record of community service who attend a high school in a town served by Berkshire Bank. The Berkshire Bank Foundation will award up to 30 local High School Seniors a $1,500 scholarship. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, a gross family annual income under $75,000, and plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college or technical school. (Number 106) The Amy Bindelglass Memorial Essay Scholarship to enhance awareness of organ and tissue donation. Must be a high school junior or senior and write a convincing, persuasive essay on the assigned topic, and demonstrate a clear understanding of the regulations and ethics surrounding organ and tissue donation. Information in guidance. Submissions must be postmarked by April 1, 2016. (Number 55) Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship Upper Hudson Association champions outstanding academic achievement and a liberal education, awarding scholarships to two 2016 high school graduates from the region planning to enter college in the fall of 2016. Applicants must have at least a 90% GPA and be in the top 10% of their class. Applications in guidance; must be postmarked no later than Monday, March 7, 2016. (Number 37) Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Albany, NY Alumnae Chapter 2016 Scholar Incentive/Merit Awards are given to promote community service and high educational standards with a vital interest in the advancement of opportunities for minority groups, especially youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. Awarded to high school seniors, minimum C+ (75%) GPA, pursuing post secondary education at an accredited institution, in need of financial assistance, and have demonstrated the ability and potential to succeed. (Number 119) Spencertown Fire Company Fred Oleynek Memorial Scholarship to a graduating senior who A) has resided at least 2 years in the area serviced by the Spencertown Fire Co. or B) lives within the Austerlitz Fire District and has a parent who is a member in good standing of the Spencertown Fire Co. and c) plans to continue their education at an institution of higher learning. (Number 41) Buick Achievers Scholarship Program for high school seniors who plan to enroll full time at a four year college or university in2016/17 and who plan to major in a course focused on engineering technology, or design, with an interest in the automotive industry. Coon Humanitarian Award for outstanding community service is awarded to a Junior or a Senior. Academic achievement is not a factor in selecting a winner. Information and applications in guidance. The NYS Association of Agricultural Fairs awards scholarships to students in his/her senior year of high school to provide assistance to any student who has been actively involved in local fairs. Application must be downloaded from the NYSAAF website, www.nyfairs.org, completed by the student, signed by applicant and parent/guardian and then submitted to one of the member fairs for endorsement. Information in guidance. Deadline to submit application to a member fair or the NYSSA is no later than Friday, April 8, 2016.
