Scholarship list is also posted on the Topeka High School website main page at the bottom of the page under scholarship bulletin You can also find it on the Counselors Page by clicking on staff (Tope of THS homepage), counseling center, and any of the counselor s names. Students can request scholarship applications in the Counseling Center by filling out a scholarship request form or follow the links on the scholarship bulletin. Trojan Time Scholarship Assistance is available to all students by signing up with the Counseling Center Prior to Trojan Time ** = New scholarships ** Wichita State University Wallace Scholarships $20,000 each Deadline: Have applied to WSU by Oct 15 th &WISE application by November 1 st Criteria: Senior with a minimum GPA of 3.5, 24 ACT composite score, declare a major in engineering, admitted to WSU by Oct 15 th and WISE application by Nov 1 st. Apply on-line at: NAACP - McKinley Langford Burnett College Scholarship $1,000 each Deadline: October 1oth Criteria: Graduating seniors, essay scholarship opportunity, must have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. ** Topeka Community Foundation Class of 1949 Sarah Thacher McNeive Memorial Scholarship $300 Deadline: October 28 th Criteria: A senior who demonstrated financial need meeting obligations their senior year. This scholarship is to be used for expenses their senior year. ** Veterans of Foreign Wars Scholarship VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship Competition Deadline: November 1 st Criteria: Student 9-12 grade, US resident. Students must record an original 3-5 minute essay on audio CD or flash drive. ** WACE National CO-OP Scholarships

2 Deadline: Varies depending upon the school application deadline (November 1 st March 1 st ) Criteria: A senior who has a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and must apply to attend these specific schools: Clarkson University, Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Merrimack College, Rochester Institute of Technology, State University of New York Oswego, The University of Toledo, University of Cincinnati, University of Massachusetts Lowell, and Wentworth Institute of Technology. Apply on-line at: Prudential Spirit of Community Award $1,000 Deadline: November 3 rd Criteria: Students in grades 5-12 who have meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service. Apply on-line at: and It Takes a Village, Inc Scholarship 2015 Deadline: November 15 th Criteria: Must be a graduating senior who is a resident of Shawnee County, planning on attending a 4 year college, 2 year college, technical college and major in a field related to creative writing, music, art, or theater. Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Scholarships 2 1 DAR Christopher Columbus Essay Contest $100 Local Winner and $1,200 National Winner Deadline: November 20 th Criteria: Students in grades 9-12, must write an essay. 2 DAR Good Citizens Scholarship Contest $100 local winner - $250 state winner $500 each = division winner $5,000 each = national winners Deadline: November 20 th Criteria: High school senior. Must write an essay. Possess the qualities of good citizenship, dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. ** Friends of the Topeka High School Library $500 Deadline: December 4 th Criteria: Senior who must further their education at a trade, community college, or college setting. Preference will be given tom students who intend to pursue debate at the collegiate level. Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund (JMSMSF) Deadline: March 31 st Criteria: High school senior who is a US Citizen or permanent resident of US. GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Will attend an accredited 4 year college or university within the 50 states or District of Columbia. Have demonstrated leadership through participating in community service or other extra-curricular activities. Combined adjusted income of the parents cannot exceed $60,0oo. Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Scholarship Criteria: Must be a US citizen, national or permanent resident, between the ages of 15 and 18, current high school student at the time of application with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
