BASIC LOCATION REQUIREMENTS: ELECTRICAL 120 Vlt 60 Hz 15 AMP Fuse r Circuit Breaker Individual branch circuit serving nly the washer is recmmended. The washer is equipped with a pwer crd. NEVER USE AN EXTENSION CORD. GROUNDING ELECTRICAL GROUND IS REQUIRED ON THIS APPLIANCE. Appliance is equipped with a pwer crd having a 3-prng grunding plug fr use in a prperly installed and grunded utlet.! WARNING Imprper cnnectin f the equipment-grunding cnductr can result in a risk f electrical shck. Check with a qualified electrician r serviceman if yu are in dubt as t whether the appliance is prperly grunded. ADDITIONAL GROUNDING CONNECTIONS A grunding kit (Part N. 12001875) is available. It cntains the grund wire, clamp, grund screw and washer. Cnnect the grund wire t back f unit with the cabinet grund screw and washer. Secure the ther end f grund wire t a grunded COLD metal water pipe. NEVER CONNECT GROUND WIRE TO PLASTIC PLUMBING LINES, GAS LINES OR HOT WATER PIPES. WATER T crrectly fill the washer in the prper amunt f time, Water pressure f 20 t 120 p.s.i. is required. Water pressure less than 20 psi may cause a failure in the water valve and may nt allw the water valve t shut ff cmpletely. Or may extend the fill time beynd what the washer cntrls will nrmally allw and result in the washer turning ff. A time limit is built int the cntrls in the event f an internal hse becming lse and avids a flded hme. The water valve Ht and Cld water faucets must be within 4 feet f the back f the washer fr inlet hses prvided with the washer. NOTE: Accessry inlet hses are available in varius lengths up t 10 feet fr faucets mre than 4 feet frm the back f the washer. 3
T Avid The Pssibility Of Water Damage: Have Water Faucets Easily Accessible Turn Off Faucets When Washer Is Nt In Use. DRAIN FACILITY Recmmended height f the standpipe is 18. The drain hse must be ruted thrugh the drain hse clip t the standpipe. Standpipe must be large enugh t accept the utside diameter f the drain hse. The drain hse is attached at the factry. FLOORING Fr best perfrmance the washer must be installed n a slidly cnstructed flr. Wd flrs may need t be reinfrced t minimize vibratin and/r unbalanced lad situatins. Carpeting and sft tile surfaces are cntributing factrs in vibratin and/r tendency fr a washer t mve slightly during the spin cycle. Never install the washer n a platfrm r weakly supprted structure. LOCATION CONSIDERATIONS It is recmmended the washer never be installed in areas where water may freeze since the washer will always maintain sme water in the water valve, pump and hse areas. This can cause damage t belts, pump, hses and ther cmpnents. Operating temperature shuld be abve 60 F. IMPORTANT TO INSTALLER Please Read The Fllwing Instructins Carefully Befre Installing The Washing Machine. These Instructins Shuld Be Retained Fr Future Reference. Remve The Dr Frm All Discarded Appliances T Avid The Danger Of A Child Suffcating. STEP 1 PREPARE WASHER Remving The Shipping Blts Befre using the washing machine, yu must remve the five shipping blts frm the back f the unit. 1. Lsen all blts with the supplied wrench befre remving them. 2. Slide the blt and spacer up and remve the blt with spacer thrugh the hle in the rear wall f the washer. Repeat fr each blt. 3. Fill the hles with the supplied plastic cvers. 4. Keep the shipping blts and spacers fr future use. STEP 2 INSTALLING THE WASHING MACHINE Selecting a lcatin Befre yu install the washing machine, select a lcatin with the fllwing characteristics: A hard, level surface (if the surface is uneven, see Adjusting the leveling feet, belw) Lcate away frm direct sunlight. Adequate ventilatin Rm temperature that will nt fall belw 032 F C r 0 C. Away frm surces f heat such as cal r gas Make sure that the washing machine des nt stand n its pwer crd. Carpeting must nt bstruct ventilatin penings when the washing machine is installed n a carpeted flr. 6
STEP 3 INSTALL THE WASHER (NOTE: Under the cunter installatin d nt require remval f the wrk tp. Prceed with the fllwing instructins.) 1. Place the drain hse in the drain facility. Be sure an airtight cnnectin is NOT made between the drain hse and the standpipe. Standpipe must be at least 18 high. NOTE: If drain standpipe is in excess f 5 feet abve flr level, a drain hse extensin kit (Part #12001660) #12002482) will need t be installed. If drain standpipe is in excess f 10 feet abve flr level, a pump accessry kit (Part #12001674) may need t be installed. NOTE: Cautin must always be exercised t avid cllapsing r damaging the drain hse. Fr best perfrmance the drain hse shuld nt be restricted in any way, thrugh elbws, cuplings r excessive lengths. Fr installatins where the drain hse cannt be cnveniently elevated t at least 18, the drain hse must be supprted. 2. Check the inlet hse t ensure a screen strainer and washer is 2. Check the inlet hse t ensure a washer is inside f each fill inside f each fill hse. Thread the inlet hses with the screen hse. Thread the inlet hses t the HOT and COLD faucet cnnectins. On the ther end f the hse, check fr ne rubber washer t the HOT and COLD faucet cnnectins. The dme n the screen strainer must pint twards the faucet. On the ther washer per hse and install each fill hse t the water valve. end f the hse, check fr ne rubber washer per hse and install Make sure the hse marked HOT is attached t the HOT each fill hse t the water valve. Make sure the hse marked faucet. Tighten by hand until snug and then 2/3 f a turn with HOT is attached t the HOT faucet. Tighten by hand until snug pliers. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. and then 2/3 f a turn with pliers. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. 3. Turn n HOT and COLD water supply and check all cnnectins at the water valve and the faucet fr leaks. NOTE: Accessry inlet hses are available in varius lengths up t 10 feet. 4. Plug pwer crd int a grunded 120 vlt 60 Hz apprved electrical service prtected by a 15-amp fuse r cmparable circuit breaker. This washer is grunded thrugh the third prng f the pwer crd when plugged int a three prng grunded receptacle. 5. Slide washer int psitin. 6. Level washer by turning the leveling legs in r ut as necessary by hand. When the washer is level, tighten the leveling leg lck nuts up against the base f the washer using the wrench supplied with the washer. NOTE: The washer must be leveled n all 4 sides. A carpenter s level shuld be used n all 4 crners f the washer. It s a gd idea after the first dzen washes t recheck the levelness f the washer. 96 MAX. 18 MIN. 96 MAX. 18 MIN. 7
If installing under a cunter: Carefully mve the washer in frnt f it s final lcatin. Adjust the rear leveling legs t the required height and level the washer acrss the back f the washer. Tighten the leveling lcking nuts up against the bttm f the washer base with the wrench. Adjust the frnt leveling legs t level the washer in respect t the rear leveling legs. Gently lift up n the frnt f the washer and slide back int the recess. With the washer in its final psitin, place a level alng the tp edge f the washer. (n rcking f the washer shuld exist). Adjust the frnt leveling legs up r dwn t ensure the washer is resting slid. Turn the lck nuts n each leg up twards the base f the washer and snug with a wrench. NOTE: Keep the leg extensin at a minimum t prevent excessive vibratin. The farther ut the legs are extended the mre the washer will vibrate and pssibly walk. FINAL INSTALLATION CHECKLIST Instructin and Installatin Kit have been remved frm tub. Shipping blts and spacers have been remved. Washer is plugged int electrical utlet and is prperly grunded. Water hses are cnnected t the faucets with inlet screens and washers. Water is turned n and checked fr leaks at faucet and water valve cnnectins n back f washer. Drain hse is prperly lcated int drain facility and is nt cllapsed r damaged. Washer has been prperly leveled. All legs shuld be firmly n the flr and leveling leg lck nuts tightened up against the bttm f the washer base frame. Washer fills prperly n all temperature selectins. Test fr prper peratin by running the washer thrugh a cmplete cycle. COLD WEATHER STORAGE The fllwing precautins shuld be taken if a washer is t be stred, after use, where it wuld be subject t freezing cnditins. 1. Turn ff the water supply, then remve the inlet hses frm the facets. 2. Place the end f the inlet hses int a bucket r cntainer. Select a fill cycle and energize the water valve by selecting a warm water setting. A few secnds f fill is sufficient t empty the inlet hses. 3. Discnnect frm electrical supply. 4. Lwer the drain hse t flr level and tilt washer backwards t remve water frm the drain hse and pump. 8
