4 Chapter 1 Safety DO NOT USE THIS MACHINE UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Safety glasses must be wrn at all times in wrk areas. Apprpriate ftwear must be wrn. Lng and lse hair must be cntained. Clse fitting/prtective clthing must be wrn. Glves, rings and jewelry must nt be wrn as wire culd catch n the item and bring hands twards the machine. Hearing prtectin shuld be wrn when using this machine. PRE-OPERATIONAL SAFETY CHECKS Ø Examine the pwer crd, extensin lead, plugs, sckets and pwer utlet fr damage. Ø Ensure the safety guards are secure and crrectly fitted. Ø Secure and supprt the wrk piece using clamps, bench vices, blts, etc. OPERATIONAL SAFETY CHECKS Ø ONLY t be perated by qualified persnal wh have read instructins. This culd result in severe damage t the machine r persnal injury t the user. Ø DO NOT perate this machine n a lwer vltage as it may result in the mtr being at a reduced pwer level and this culd als limit the mtr life. NOTE: Use f lng small gauge pwer extensin crds can result in decreased vltage. As lcal vltages can vary, it may be a gd idea t test the vltage at the end f the extensin crd t ensure prper vltage requirements are met. Yu might als cnsult an electrician t make sure the length f crd matches up with the prper wire gauge fr this size mtr. Make sure t use utdr crds when perating utdrs. 2

7 Chapter 3 Operatins Nte THOROUGHLY READ THROUGH THE ENTIRE MANUAL BEFORE OPERATING THIS MACHINE! PURPOSE Ø The purpse f the MWS-808PMO is t remve uter and inner jackets frm wires and cables in rder t separate the inner cpper r aluminum. These types f machines are widely used in the recycling industry t extract cpper and aluminum fr recycling. Ø The wire jackets are als able t be recycled by many recyclers s inquire with yur lcal scrap buyers. INSTALLATION Ø Install the machine in a dry place. Ø Blt dwn r secure in sme manner s as t be able t have access t bth the frnt wire inlets and the back wire utputs. Ø Make certain the machine is firmly secure s it will nt tip r fall. OPERATIONAL PRINCIPLES Ø This machine pulls wire int the machine acrss an assembly f a single cutting channel and a single rlling channel. Ø The main cutting blade shaft and main rlling shaft run inversely t create a mechanism that pulls the wire int frnt f the machine. 4

8 MACHINE COMPONENTS Ø The main cmpnents f the MWS-808PMO are the central cutting and rlling assemblies. These are driven by a transfer case, as system f gearing and a mtr. The safety guards are situated n tp f the assemblies as well as in frnt where the wire guide is situated. There are als safety guards n tp f the main drive gear as well as n the sides f the assembly bearing husings n the left and right. All f these cmpnents are situated n a steel tray. The safety cmpnents must be nt be remved except by a qualified technician. Pwer must be discnnected prir t any service. Ø This machine has ne primary adjusting pint. The main way is thugh the tw T- blts. These are the black blts n the tp f the machine that have a lcking wing nut. These T-blts are used t tighten r lsen the springs that cntrl the upper cutting assembly. Essentially these are used t cut deeper r shallwer int wire jackets. If yu are nt able t put a piece f wire in a channel (and have already tried t run it thrugh larger channels), it may be necessary t lsen the T-blt 5

9 It is nt uncmmn fr users t ver-tighten these T-blts thinking they need mre spring tensin, when in reality they just needed t strip dwn a cutting channel. Generally if yu re cutting in the right channel a full turn f the T-blt (either tighter r lser) is all that is needed. Ø The secndary adjusting pint n this machine are the side centering blts. These are the blts with lck nuts n them lcated n the side f bth bearing husings that adjust the tp cutting assembly frm right t left. It is generally nt recmmended t adjust these blts unless the smallest channel cutting blades are nt centered in the cutting channel. T access this, the user will lk dwn the smallest left channels and visually gauge if the blades are centered. If these centering blts have t much play in them, the entire cutting channel can mve t much frm right t left during running wire. If the blades are nt centered r have t much play, they can be adjusted. Yu really nly need the entire cutter assembly (frm bearing husing n right t bearing husing n left) t have abut 1/16 f play. Essentially, yu 6

10 just need enugh rm fr the centering blts t allw the entire assembly t raise when a piece f wire ges thrugh the channel and pushes up the entire cutter assembly. It is generally recmmended t set the centering blts by unscrewing the centering blts n bth sides f the assembly a few turns. Then lking dwn the left (small wire) cutting channels, tap the husing right r left t get the blades in the center f the channel. Screw the blts in evenly frm bth sides (right and left blts). Be careful here nt t mve the entire assembly. When they are tight against the husings, take anther lk dwn the left channel guides making sure the cutters are still in the center f the channel grve. If they are nt, readjust. Next lsen the centering blts by abut ½ a turn n bth the right and left side. This leaves just enugh f an air gap t allw the cutting assembly t raise, but nt travel t much frm right t left. Next tighten the lck nuts. Make sure nt t tighten r lsen the centering blt n this step by using anther wrench t ensure it desn t spin. PROCESSING WIRE Ø There is a wire guide in frnt f the main shaft and blade shaft where the cables will be manually inserted. See wire input guide diagram belw fr a general understanding f what wires can g in certain cutting channels. Ø The wire input guide will be used as a general starting pint fr prcessing wire. Befre prcessing, it is recmmended t cllect similar wire types t assist in wire prcessing efficiency. Ø Selecting the crrect input t run the wire thrugh can take sme time and experience. The general rule is t start in a much larger wire guides than the wire in questin, run the wire, check the wire. If nt cut, step dwn t a smaller input guide and try it again. It is a general miscnceptin that the user shuld put a wire in the hle that is the exact same size f the wire. This is rarely the case. After a while the user will knw frm experience which guide is right fr certain wire types. WIRE TYPE GUIDE Ø Sheathed flat cable: 0.55 (14mm) x 0.31 (8mm) WxH Ø Twisted flat cable: 0.31 (8mm) x 0.23 (6mm) WxH Ø Single-cre cable: Dia. Φ0.07 (2mm) ~ Φ1 (25mm) 7

Ø After securing the machine, plug the machine int pwer surce. Ø Have yur wires ready t prcess, by separating them by type and cutting them int 3-4 lengths. This is primarily fr safety, but als t prtect the mtr frm trque created by pulling heavy wires int the machine. Ø G thrugh the n/ff functins t make sure they are perating crrectly. Start the machine by pressing the green n switch. Stp the machine by pressing the red ff switch. Ø Turn the machine n. Ø Select a wire t strip. Ø Decide n which guide is the crrect guide input. Ø Run the wire thrugh. 8

12 If the wire did nt cut thrugh the cmplete jacket, run it thrugh again thrugh a smaller channel. If there are n smaller channels, tighten the T-blt half/full turn clsest t the channel yu re attempting t use. Ø Separate the wire frm the jacket On smaller wire this will be dne by pulling the wire ut f the jacket. Fr larger wires with thicker jackets, if yu are nt able t pull the wire ut f the jacket, yu may need t run the wire thrugh again cutting int the ppsite side f the wire jacket. 9

13 Chapter 4 Trubleshting Prblem Wires get jammed in the machine Fr smaller wire, the cut in the wire jacket is nt in the center f the wire The machine is excessively lud and makes grinding nise The machine is nt cutting thrugh the entire jacket Slutin There are a few pssible fixes fr this: 1: Lsen the tp hand cranks t take pressure ff springs t allw mre rm fr the springs t depress. 2: Check t make sure yu are running the wire thrugh the right channel. This takes sme time t figure ut. Be patient when clearing the machine. Try the step dwn methd. Start in a larger hle than yu think. Wrk yur way dwn t a smaller hle until ideal cut is made. 3: Only use the 1st tw channels fr running Rmex. They have the Rectangular Guides. 4: The jacket n the wire yu are trying t run is t thick. This machine will nt strip sme wires where the jacket is t thick r the materials are t dense, such as sme undergrund plastics. The side adjustments culd be ut f alignment n the cutter rllers. The cutter rllers n the tp f the cutting assembly can adjust right t left. The cutting blades shuld be centered in the middle f every rller. Yu can lk dwn the middle f every rller frm frnt and back f the machine t see if the cutters are in the center. If they are nt, yu can adjust the tp cutter and rllers by adjusting the side blts (with the lck nut) t slightly shift the cutter/rller. Make sure yu d nt tighten the blts t much s the tp cutter/rller assembly cannt raise and lwer as wire passes thrugh. Think f these blts as side stps nly, just t keep the assembly inline, s leave abut 1mm gap in-between blt and cutter/rllers. These machines are generally n the nisier side as they use gear drive system. Yu can hwever check the side adjustments as they culd be ut f alignment n the cutter rllers. 14 Chapter 5 Maintenance Ø Inspect electrical crds and electrical cnnectins. Ø Keep machine clean and free f debris. Ø Grease internal gears with red grease r Mlybdenum grease as needed. Ø Spray antirust il n spindle and blade shaft as needed. Ø Inspect blades ccasinally t ensure they are sharp fr ptimal cutting. Changing Blades 1. Remve upper cutter/rller tensiners and the springs belw them. 2. Use 11/16 scket t remve tp blts, and the spacers belw them. 3. Take the tp guard ff. 4. Take the cutter assembly ut. 5. Use adjustable large puller t pull bearing husing ff the cutter assembly. 11

15 6. Use puller t pull bearing frm cutter assembly. Make sure t mark the bearings psitin n the steel rd t assure the crrect psitin upn reassembly. 7. Unscrew spanner nut clckwise. If yu d nt have a spanner nut wrench, it is pssible t use a pair f vice grips. 8. MAKE SURE YOU MARK THE SPACERS 1 THROUGH 5 (OR 1 THROUGH 9 FOR THE TOP ASSEMBLY), SO THAT THEY GO BACK ON IN THE SAME ORDER THAT YOU TOOK THEM OFF. 12

16 9. Blades are ready t cme ff and be replaced. 10. When re-assembling put the bearing back int the bearing husing befre attaching the husing t the cutter/rller. 11. Fllw all ther steps in reverse rder t reassemble. 13
