Freegal Music and the music yu dwnlad are free in the sense that mst things in yur library are free t yu as a patrn f the library. The service is underwritten by yur lcal library. Why are there limits n the amunt f dwnlads I can make? What des limit exceeded mean? The limit is set s that a maximum number f patrns may have equal access t the sngs in the Freegal Music Service. The limit exceeded appears when yu have used all dwnlads fr the week. What are the basics f Streaming? 1. Yu nw have a weekly dwnlad alltment, and a DAILY streaming alltment. Fr mst library cardhlders, yu will have 3 dwnlads per week, and 3 hurs f streaming every day. Cunters are in the upper right crner and will keep yu infrmed f yur alltments and usage. 2. Hw t stream: When yu put yur cursr ver an album, yu will see a stream nw buttn cme up. If yu press that buttn n an album, the whle album will play in rder. Yu can use Freegal Playlists. This is a list f pre-selected sngs in a genre that yu are sure t enjy. T create yur wn playlist: Click n My Playlists under Streaming n the left side. Click n Create and Stre Playlists. At the tp center, click n the + symbl next t Saved Playlists. Name yur playlist (ex. The Bss ) and describe it (ex. Bruce ).
In that bx, click n Create New Playlist and yur playlist is ready t add music. Click n the Hme page and start lking fr music t add. T add an album, mve yur cursr ver an album cver and a =+ will appear. Click n that, and then add t yur chsen playlist ptin. T add an individual sng, click n the image until yu see a play arrw and =+ sign. Pressing the =+ will allw yu t add the sng t yur chsen playlist. Freegal Music is als a mbile experience. The new Freegal Music update fr Andrid and Apple devices is in the stres/marketplace fr yu t be able t stream ad-free music, at n charge t yu. What s the difference between Streaming and Dwnlading? Dwnlading is capturing and keeping the file n a permanent basis. Streaming is accessing the file n a temprary basis, while being cnnected t the internet. The streaming access gives yu access t mre music. As well as yur allcated 3 dwnlads per week, yu nw have the ability t stream 3 hurs f music per day. Hw des the Recent Dwnlads functinality wrk? In the Freegal Music navigatin bar, yu will see "Recent Dwnlads." Here yu have the ability t re-dwnlad a previusly dwnladed sng up t tw mre times within 2 weeks frm the riginal dwnlad fr reinstall purpses, in case yur cnnectin timed ut. This re-dwnlad will nt cunt against yur dwnlad ttals. Hw d I burn music t a CD? Each cmputer system is different. Yu can use itunes, Windws Media Player r a third party sftware like Rxie. Simply fllw the instructins fund in the sftware fr burning yur CD. Hw d I get the Freegal Mbile Applicatin? If yu have an Apple device (Iphne/Ipad/Ituch), yu will be able t dwnlad the Freegal App by ding a search fr Freegal Music in the App Stre. If yu have an Andrid phne r tablet, yu will be able t search fr Freegal Music in the Ggle Play stre. As f this writing, Amazn and Barnes & Nble have nt made the apps available in their stres. What is the functinality f the Freegal App? The Freegal App is designed t find libraries that have the Freegal Music Service, t stre yur lgin infrmatin, t search and brwse the Freegal Music cllectin f yur library, and t dwnlad, stre and play yur Freegal MP3 files.

Searching by keywrd at the tp f the website allws yu t search by artist name r sng title. The Aut-Cmplete feature prvides multiple ptins based n yur search criteria, and the expanded search page lets yu see results in a much mre rganized manner. Hw d I dwnlad a sng n my cmputer? When yu've fund a sng yu want, click n the "Dwnlad Nw" link next t yur chsen sng. At the prmpt, select Save and chse where yu want t save the sng. If yu're nt presented with a prmpt, try right-clicking the link and chsing the ptin t save the link (i.e. Save Target As, Save Link As, r Dwnlad Linked File, etc.). This will let yu chse where t save yur sng. Nte: Anytime yu click n the "Dwnlad Nw" link, even if yu decide t cancel r play it, the dwnlad will cunt twards yur weekly alltment. Why des the cunter say I've dwnladed 3 sngs when I'm sure I haven't? Yu may have started a dwnlad then changed yur mind and cancelled it. Once yu click the "dwnlad nw" buttn, it can't be reversed. It will cunt twards yur dwnlad limit even if yu cancel r chse "play" instead f "dwnlad." T avid this, please use the sng clips t ensure yu are dwnlading a sng yu want in yur music library. We cannt credit a dwnlad. Is there a dwnlad manager t install n my cmputer? N, Freegal Music utilizes the brwser t dwnlad music, s there is n need t install anything n yur cmputer. Enter the name f the cuntry yu are searching (Australia), the name f the library yu are lking fr (Brisbane), Hw d I lgin t the Freegal Music App? Right after yu select the library yu have a card with, the lgin screen will appear. This screen requests yur valid library card number. Sme libraries als request a PIN. Hme Screen: This screen shws certain featured graphics, and allws quick brwsing f the TOP 10 recent dwnlads by yur fellw library patrns, and the TOP 10 recent dwnlads f all the Freegal users in the cuntry in which yu reside. The upper right crner has yur weekly dwnlad allcatin, and the number that yu have used in the current week. The search icn is in the upper right side as well. The right facing blue arrw is t play a sng clip, and the dwnward pinting arrw is t dwnlad music. The bttm f the hme page has the majr functinality buttns described belw: My Music: My Music is where all yur sngs are stred. Once yu use the big dwnward facing arrw t dwnlad a sng, this is where it ges. Playlist: This is where yu can create shrtcuts t yur favurite music. Mst peple will use this after they have dwnladed a lt f sngs. This way they can separate their classical music frm their wrkut music, etc. Yu can create multiple playlists t rganize yur music. Once yu create a playlist, yu will have the music bth in My Music and in the Playlist area. Brwse: In this area, yu will be able t quickly brwse the mst ppular Artists, Sngs and Genres in a navigatin bar at the tp f the screen in the Brwse area.
Settings: This is where yu can, if yu wish, lg ut f the Freegal Music Applicatin. One f the great things abut the App is yu dn t have t lgin each time! Hwever if yu are lgging in frm multiple devices yu may wish t lgut. I dwnladed a vide and it tk 2 f my dwnlads when I dwnladed nly 1 vide. That is the expected functinality. Vides are premium cntent and cst the end user 2 f his r her weekly dwnlads. Why can't I find artists with special characters in their name? T find an artist with a special character in their name, yu must type their exact name (ex. P!nk). We are wrking n a tl t help avid this requirement. Hw d I transfer sngs via itunes? Freegal music has its wn ios Applicatin which can be dwnladed frm the App Stre. Sme users may still wish t dwnlad sngs t their PC and synch t their mbile device, as they will have the advantage f having a cpy f their music their cmputer's memry. Apple, the manufacturer f the Iphne and the Ipad, has created their devices withut the ability t dwnlad music directly, unless ging thrugh the Itunes stre r using an apprved applicatin. At the tp f the screen yu will have ptins like "summary, inf, apps, music, mvies, etc." Select "Apps." Frm there, scrll dwn t File Sharing and select the Freegal app. Once highlighted, yu shuld view a file that cntains the music dwnladed frm the app. Take that file and simply drag it t yur desktp backgrund. This will save the music t yur desktp. Nw that the music is in yur desktp, yu can mve this music int yur itunes thrugh dragging and drpping individual sngs int itunes.
