General Information COURSE HIGHLIGHTS Thoracic malignancies represent the leading cause of cancer death in the United States. This continuing medical education activity will focus on recent developments in comprehensive care of patients with malignancies of the chest. Faculty will provide important information regarding lung cancer types, causes, prognosis and treatment. Important clinical advances and clinical trials including surgical, medical, radiation and palliative techniques also will be discussed. COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to: Describe various types of lung cancer and their prognosis, as well as diagnostic and treatment options and their outcomes. Summarize information about state of the art multidisciplinary lung cancer care. Discuss important clinical advances and clinical trials including surgical, medical, radiation and palliative techniques. Identify lung cancer issues pertinent to special populations including women and the elderly. INTENDED AUDIENCE This program is designed for family practitioners, internists, pulmonologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and any healthcare professionals with an interest in learning more about lung cancer.
