Process of Recognition Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process whereby existing knowledge and experience are matched to national competency standards so that you may gain partial or full credit towards completion of the qualification. The RPL assessment process enables your existing skills, knowledge and experience to be recognised and aligned with competencies contained within both the TAESS00009 Skill Set and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110). Further details of RPL will be explained in the Information Session. Note: The Certificate IV in Language Literacy and Numeracy Assessment and Training (90357QLD) does not give full RPL towards TAELLN411. If you do hold the Certificate IV in Language Literacy and Numeracy Assessment and Training (90357QLD) and you are currently in a training role, you may be able to provide the required evidence to address the competency gap. Any enquiries, please contact Paul Mulroney on email: pmulroney@communitycentressa.asn.au or telephone: 8371 4622 (Option 2, Ext 2). All assessments are conducted by TAFE SA and competency decisions solely made by TAFE SA. Other processes of recognition are: National Recognition means that all registered training organisations will recognise qualifications and statements of attainment issued by any other Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in Australia. Credit Transfer is available for students who have previously attained competence in current unit/s to be undertaken as part of Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) (see page for 4 unit details). 6

PARTICIPANT ONLINE LEARNING EXPERIENCE Overview A virtual classroom training delivery model has been established to ensure your learning experience is a positive one. The course delivery utilises a highly effective online learning tool, Blackboard Collaborate (BB Collaborate), to deliver training sessions (with the TAFE SA facilitator) and supporting hub sessions (with your qualified Community Centres SA mentor), in a virtual classroom. There will be additional online and phone support with the TAFE SA facilitator and the qualified Community Centres SA mentor if/when required. The e-learning program for each course is presented on a set day and time weekly over a set period with your TAFE SA facilitator and hub group sessions (dependent on student group need) with the qualified Community Centres SA mentor as follows : TAESS00009 Address Foundation Skills in Vocational Practice Skill Set Information Session 5 Training Sessions 3 Hub Group Sessions TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Information Session 10 Training Sessions 5 Hub Sessions Whilst your course is presented via your computer, it is expected that sessions will be attended in the same manner as face-to-face classes would be attended. Technical requirements Access to the internet Computer with sound Earphones Microphone. (We recommend the use of a reliable headset/microphone attachment so you don t disrupt those around you. Please also note that it is essential to have JavaScript installed on your computer). Once we receive your Enrolment form a Community Centres SA staff member will be in contact to explain how BB Collaborate works. 7

Training Sessions At the Information Session, which forms part of the course, you will receive information about the content of the course, assessment requirements, including RPL opportunities (see page 6 for details), and submission and completion dates for all assignments. The Training Sessions address the critical knowledge and skills that are required for you to become an effective trainer and assessor according to the competencies of the selected course. Relevant links will be provided to enrolled participants and a Community Centres SA staff member will contact you to talk you through the process of using the technology. Mentoring and Hub Groups In addition to the training sessions there will be hub sessions with a qualified Community Centres SA mentor. Hub sessions provide guidance and support on aspects covered in the training sessions, reinforce concepts and provide an opportunity for you to ask questions and obtain clarification on issues that may arise. Our Expectations If you enrol in a course, we ask that you commit to it. As places are limited in these courses, enrolment without following through with attendance means that you have taken the place of another student and it may then be too late for them to start the course. Participation in the training forms a component of formative assessment. When a session is missed, you are not involved with the group activities and discussions. This lessens your evidence towards attaining competence. Therefore: attendance at all training and hub sessions is expected; listening to the recording of a session you missed is not considered attendance; and insufficient attendance may result in not attaining the qualification/units of competency. (Note: Achievement of competency is subject to TAFE SA approval.) It is fully understood that there are times when attendance is not possible due to illness and/or significant events. In such circumstances, as a courtesy, it is expected that you inform both the TAFE SA lecturer and Community Centre SA mentor of your inability to attend. In such a circumstance, it is anticipated that you will listen to the recording of the session(s) missed to keep current with the progression of the program s content. You may also be asked to participate in additional activities or discussions. 8

Attendance at the trial session (allow approximately 5 minutes) to ensure that your equipment and computer are working in harmony with BB Collaborate is essential. If you are not available for the trial session we ask that you contact Fulvia Lorenzon on email : florenzon@communitycentressa.asn.au or telephone: 8371 4622 to arrange an alternative time. If you do not pre-test your equipment and then log on to the first session and find your equipment does not work, you will be asked to leave the session and ring in to Community Centres SA. This ensures that the other students and the Tutor are shown respect by not interrupting the session. You will be requested to complete an Evaluation form at the end of the course. 9
