DeBartolo Family Principal Kristine Bennett, M.Ed Assistant Principals Jeff Mitchell, M.Ed Jennifer Ervin, M.Ed Dear BDCHS Families: Friends of The Phoenix Fund Vision, values and a dedicated team have resulted in Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School ranking 7 th out of 3057 schools in the state for improved reading performance and within the top 10% of all schools in the state for improved math performance. We also received an A rating for four consecutive years. BDCHS is one of only two high schools in Hillsborough County to have received four consecutive A grades in a row. A large part of this success can be directly attributed to our school s model where students receive a quality public school education in a small, student centered learning environment. By providing a focused, high quality education with rigorous curricula, BDCHS equips students for post-secondary success. The partnership with each and every one of our BDCHS families and staff makes the difference for not only our students but for our community. To reach our 2013-2014 goals, we are asking for your help. In previous years, the Annual Spring Auction has been the major fundraiser for BDCHS to support the needs of students and faculty. As our school has grown, these needs have outpaced the growth of this single once a year event. After exploring many suggestions and options in 2012, the Spring Auction was replaced by The Phoenix Fund. The concept is simple. You do not have to purchase tickets, gift wrap or chocolate. All you have to do is donate funds that will directly support educational initiatives that will support student learning a priceless investment. This fund raiser will operate year round with a focus in January and February to purchase much needed materials for second semester and the following school year. The Phoenix Fund s primary focus is providing seed money for these educational development tools along with future technology upgrades to keep our school competitive and current. It is based on these needs that our 2014 Phoenix Fund goal of $20,000 has been established. We encourage you to participate in our Friends of The Phoenix Fund To reach our goal we need for each student /family to donate or raise $100 for The Phoenix Fund. This one fundraiser reaches out and benefits all the students at Brooks DeBartolo. The funds go for educational software programs, student field experiences, student recognition, teaching materials, club materials, sport team essentials, and professional development/training needs to name a few. Specifically, there are plans including but not limited to: adding an additional technology lab and STEM lab, replenishing and updating textbooks, purchasing digital cameras for student use in their classes for multimedia presentations, adding a class set of mobile devices (ipad minis), annual software licenses, and much more. Don t forget it is a tax deductible donation. Through the Phoenix Fund, we can support a quality educational program directly. A donation card is enclosed for you to complete. Please make checks payable to BDCHS and place your student s name on the memo line so they can receive credit for the donation toward the various student incentives. You can support the Friends of the Phoenix Fund in 1 of 3 ways: 1) A Direct $100 donation. With this donation the family will receive recognition in the Phoenix News and will receive an engraved brick in the future brick walkway on campus. 2) Collect $100 from potential donors. Your goal is $100 in donations. All students who achieve the suggested donation amount will be entered into a drawing for an ipad. Upon return of the Donor Log to your homeroom along with the cash/checks, you will receive receipts to distribute to each donor for tax purposes.

3) A Family/Business Sponsorship. Sponsorship forms are enclosed. Donations along with the enclosed forms should be mailed directly to: Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School ATTN: The Phoenix Fund - CH37972 10948 North Central Ave Tampa, FL 33612 The Phoenix Fund fundraiser kickoff is January 22 rd with a special morning show presentation for the students. All $100+ donors will also be recognized in the Phoenix News and the BDCHS electronic newsletter that reaches more than 300 families. Prizes The first homeroom in each grade level with 100% participation wins a non-uniform day and ice cream party. A student must have at least $100 in donation to be considered a participant. 1. Top student in school (largest $ amount in donations) wins $100.00 and 3 non-uniform days. 2. Top student in each grade (except in grade with 1 st place winner) with largest $ amount in donations wins $75.00 and 1 non-uniform day. 3. Each student that participates (participation defined as minimum donation of $100), will be entered into drawing for 1 non-uniform day. (4 winners) On behalf of the BDCHS teachers, staff and PAC Officers, we thank you for your support of Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School s continued success in Soaring to New Heights. Please contact us if you have any questions. Sincerely, Debbie Stultz Anicette Richardson Francine Brown PAC President PAC Treasurer PAC Secretary PAC.
